(Blake's POV)
My mind was struggling to decide which was most challenging if it was about closing the deal with the ambassador, thinking that Matthew was the one babysitting Bree or was it about Tara coming and living with me for a month. Samantha teased me that I had to press my business mode button to concentrate on the negotiation, and if I couldn’t, I should have to leave it to the managers to close the deal. I had to brush off other things in my mind because this deal was important to me.
After a few hours of spending time presenting, negotiating, we have finally closed the deal.
She had to call our driver today because she knew none of us would be able to handle the stress ahead, which she joked was more stressful than closing the most challenging business deal I had. I hate to think I agreed with her.
“Matthew,” Samantha said in a chirpy voice, giving me the wir
(Tara's POV)My heart was pounding, and wanting to jump out of my chest as I walked in his direction. Blake always looked so powerful and in authority whenever I saw him in his business suit. He has not changed for almost six years, but he was becoming more gorgeous and sexier, and despite what happened recently, my stupid heart still loves him.I walked into a lion’s den, and one mistake I made, I would end up getting hurt again. Guess what? I didn’t really care. If my heart and my brain would probably get out of my body right now, they would be arguing about the real reason I was here. Ben and Stella were right. If Bree were my real concern, I could just run to them for help.Stella was teasing me for choosing this dress, and I said I chose this for my revenge. Well... kind of! I just have no idea how I would do it. I have plenty of ways in mind but the way Blake was gazing at me right now, here go
(Tara's POV) “Samantha,” I hissed as she walked around the boutique and pointed at the design of the clothes the staff must get. She glanced at me and smiled. “We’re not yet done, darling,” She said in an alluring tone. My eyes bulged on the prices of the clothes, and I hate to think that she will spend millions on non-important things before the day ends. She noticed that I kept looking at the tags of the items. “Buying the whole shopping mall won’t make Blake poor, Tara,” She whispered. “Just buy the whole shopping mall, then,” I joked, rolling my eyes. She chuckled. “Good suggestion! Wait-” She turned her direction to Blake, Matthew, and Bree. They tirelessly listened to her stories. I could hear Blake laughing as Bree annoyingly told them how the chickens would not listen to her. “I was just kidding,” I said, holding her arm. Samantha grinned. “Next would be-” “Samant
(Blake's POV)It was past midnight, and the house was quiet, but this was the first time in my life that I loved the silence, knowing that my child would be sleeping well. I rolled my neck from side to side as I walked in the direction of Bree’s bedroom to check on her, but to my surprise, her bed was empty, except Poppy, and the ragdoll was enjoying the big bed by herself. This time I did not worry, instead, I walked to my bedroom, and I smiled, seeing Bree snuggling at her mother. I sat on the edge of the bed, feeling my heart ached for both of them. I missed millions of hours of precious time with them, and tonight, as I looked at them, sleeping like angels in my bed, this was more than a multi-million dollar business deal that if I lost both of them, it would crush my heart. Not wanting to wake them up, I lay down on the bed as slowly as possible. I smiled when Bree rolled to my side, snuggling t
(Blake's POV) Mom opened the glass door before Dad could answer her whereabouts. My elegant, kind-hearted but strict, and worse than my father dealing with the women I met in my lifetime has a smile on her lips. No, it was not just an ordinary smile but an excited one. “Grandma Thea!” Bree squealed that she could not contain her excitement. She climbed down her chair after leaving her pencil and workbook on the table. She ran excitedly to my mother, leaving my Dad and me feeling lost in what was happening. Mom immediately sat, meeting her granddaughter’s height, and opened her arms. “Oh! Oh! How’s my beautiful granddaughter?” Did my cousins tell her about Bree? I looked at Dad, and just like me, he shrugged, telling me with all honesty in his eyes that he had no idea how they knew each other. Bree was so happy, giggling as she kissed Mom on her cheeks. “I miss you, grandma Thea!” She said in h
(Blake's POV)“Mommy! Mommy!” I heard Bree calling Tara with excitement. I peeked at them from the open door, and I could see her jumping in the bed. Her mother was preparing the hairdryer, and she was standing, watching her. She just came back an hour ago, and as soon as she got hold of her, she gave her dinner, made sure to check on her workbook, and the two of them went to the bathroom. Bree was on her sleepwear already when they went out, and Tara was still wearing the black floral-print mini dress that I adored this morning. Tara chuckled as she fixed her gaze with her. “Yes, baby... Please, stop jumping, Bree. You’re already tired,” She reminded her and tapped the chair in front of the dresser. “Come here now and let me dry your hair,”After she climbed down from the bed, Tara helped her get into the chair when she came to her. “Did you have fun with g
(Tara's POV)I took a last look at the mirror before I decided to go out of the room. Samantha had chosen my attire for today, and even if I didn’t like the idea, when she started her little drama of not having a sister nor female cousin to share a passion for fashion, I let her choose my style for today. She had chosen a mini skirt business suit, matching hers. Only hers were a black suit, and I had to wear white. It was undeniable that the single-breasted suit I was wearing now is kind of stylish, and Blake was right on asking Samantha to go shopping for me. It was my skirt that worried me, though. Although for the past days that I stayed here, I have been wearing a mini-dress, hoping to make him suffer, but as always, at the end of the day, I would always wish we could truly be together. I ached for his kisses, his touch, and last night if I had asked Bree to draw her father, which she would gladly do, it woul
(Tara's POV)“It has a long way of tradition, Tara, and we all knew that Aunt Thea had that ring, passed on to her when she got married to Uncle Steve. It was really romantic having two rings in your fingers.” She put her hand on her mouth and looked at me like her eyes would bulge from her face. “How?”“It’s a long history, Samantha. All I can tell you is that I have this ring, not in a romantic way but some sort of punishment for lying about Bree.”“Yeah... yeah! Did you know that it has a pair, Tara? A pair that is rarely passed on?” She asked, her eyes still wide.I shook my head.“This is what I love about my job. I could call my boss stupid, call him dimwit and smack him in the head... Later!” She laughed, and I joined her, not understanding why. “You’re both stupid!”“What?” I chuckled, fee
(Blake's POV)“Let’s play a game, Blake,” Tara whispered in my ear and nipped on my earlobe as she took off my blazer.“What game, Kitten?” I asked in a hushed but excited tone, letting out a deep breath as she nipped my neck playfully. She was driving me crazy, and I wanted to touch her, punish her for what she did last night, but when I started to touch her, she smacked my hands lightly, giggling sensually. Even her seductive laugh made me insane.“Patience, Blake... One rule, though. No touching.” She smiled, grabbing the collar of my dress shirt and locking her lips into mine. She lightly swept the tip of her tongue on my lips and kissed me with so much fire that I forgot I was not supposed to touch her. To hell with her rule, I wanted to touch her. My body was screaming with joy as I savored the sensation. I raised my hand, gently caressing her cheeks and her neck.
