I looked at Conan who had an indifferent look on his face.

“Didn’t you two hear me?!” the human said to his feet brandishing a local sword. “I said give me your money or…”

“We heard you the first time,” Conan sighed. “You’re giving me a headache with your screams.”

The man laughed while looking at his men who did the same.

“I like this guy,” said the man. “You think you can come into these parts and not pay my tax?”

“Do you work for the government?” I asked.

“I am the government around these parts!”

I nodded to Conan. “He’s not the government.”

“No he’s not,” said the werewolf.

“Enough with this nonsense,” the man said pointing to us. “Kill them and let’s use their heads as skulls.”

“We don’t want any trouble,” I heard my own voice come out in a lighter tone than I had intended. “Just let us go and no one gets hurt.”

They all laughed again pointing to me.
