Conan
I awoke with a slight headache to see that the sunlight brimming through the windows was the source of my pain.Struggling out of my bed, my strength failed me as I laid back in bed.“Nurse,” I tried yelling but a croak showed up. I needed help. Was there no way I could get help? If only Jade was here.Just like that, the door opened with the woman entering the room. She was different. I could feel it. The eyebags under her eyes told me all I needed to know. She had not slept throughout the night. She was probably tired but she still needed to keep her job.She saw me and immediately dropped the charts to the ground, zipping into me with a hug and a kiss.I smiled at this before wincing in pain.I had not fully healed but I was awake.“I’m sorry,” she apologized for causing me pain before looking me over. “Are you okay? Any broken bones? Can you feel your insides? Is there anything that nConan“Are you crazy?!” she yelled with the elders looking at the both of us having our lovers quarrel. “The last time you almost died fighting those creatures, I will not allow you to go again.”“Please Jade. If I don’t go they will die.”“And what are you going to do? They are alphas, they can handle themselves. You are just a beta. There is nothing you can do.”I almost laughed at the way she had downplayed my strength. She didn’t know the real me. She didn’t know my story. Why I was still in this pack. She didn’t know about that.I sighed looking at the wall clock.“How long have they been gone?” I answered the elders.“About three hours ago,” I heard the man say. It was enough time to get there and save them from doing something stupid. I would have loved to use a car but a motorbike would be better. I had one in the pack. I had boosted it up to high end means for situations like this. “No you can’t do
ConanI zoomed off from the place but it was hard to navigate through the snowy roads. I pushed a button and activated the anti snow which I knew would come in handy and it did.I heard roars from a distance before feeling quakes and knew a battle was imminent.More quakes and trembles had me increasing my speed.I started to pray that I wasn’t too late.On a normal day, I would not care if the man lived or died. In fact I wanted him dead as that would save me the stress of killing him myself, but I still needed him. If he was alive, then the chances of saving the triplets were high. With him dead, I could not save them. That could break Jade and she would do something stupid. The trembles got high as I approached the fight to see someone being thrown in my direction.I zoomed forward, reaching out my hand as I grabbed hold of his waist and steadied him with a hand while driving around.“Thanks!” he yel
Conan“He did,” I said with a tired grin before falling to the ground. That idiot had nearly reached the end of his life. He had gone way past what he could have achieved for himself. Why would anyone decide to do something so dangerous and go out there looking for battles to be involved in?Was he mad?And the other alphas who were supposed to have stopped him went with him. Now around three alphas were dead.I was lucky to have escaped with my life, but it was because I had more fighting experience when compared to him. How did he think he was going to handle the other creatures? I looked at the woman in my arms with a smile. She was still looking as sweet as ever and I loved having her in my arms. With a smile, I let her go.“You didn’t come back with him?” she asked, worried that he was stuck there but she was only worried for a limited time.He was safe, that was all she needed to know.“He’s okay. We fought off some snow pack members and all but he’s okay. He isn’t hurt from an
Conan“As much as I’d like to play hero and save my children from the hands of the threats, I can’t do it,” she sighed. “Those children could be killed if we piss the person off.”“We’ll need to be discreet about this.”“We can’t,” she halted in her footsteps letting go of me. “What if we try that and it doesn’t work. Imagine going up sharing a faceless enemy who could be anyone. That person could be one of the elders or even my coworker or someone that is close to us.“We cannot risk doing that and putting the lives of the children in danger because we want to act like the new gods of justice.”She was right. She was scared for their safety and she had every right to be.Only a fool would go ahead and do what I had suggested. “I’m sorry,” I said, taking her up into my arms to hug. “I should have been more rational instead of thinking through my arse.”We stayed in each other's embrace for a short time before breaking apart and heading for the hospital. She didn’t say anything to me
JadeI had no idea what I was. Maybe I was woman or monster. Maybe I was just there to be a creature of mayhem. Either way, I was a creature that needed to cool off for my own health sake.“It doesn’t matter,” I said walking to the human who flinched away from me as I held my hand out to help him up. “You need to get back to work. Take my hand and…”“I can get up by myself,” he squinted to his feet with the pain getting to him. From the way he stood and clenched his teeth, I knew something was broken inside. He was trying to avoid telling me about it.“You’ll need to go to the hospital,” I said walking to the end of the alleyway.“And if I refuse? Why take advice from a demon or whatever creature you are?”My fists were ready to bash into a wall as I turned to him.“I don’t know how it is in the human world but when someone saves you from becoming past tense, you call the person and tell the person that you’re thankful for not turning dead.”He suddenly felt stupid for his actions as
Brad“Move!” someone growled before ripping the soldier to shreds and zipping into me to take me out of the vicinity. The other alphas followed suit as we ran out of the pack, heading back to our van.“Where are you going?!” I panicked against the grip of the alpha carrying me. “Put me down! I am an alpha and I demand to be back in the fight for the sake of my…”“If I do put you down, trust me, I would not think twice when I see you dead before banning anyone from getting close to your snowy grave.”That threat from the wolf had me gritting my teeth. Who did he think he was?Behind us were the creatures running after us as we increased our speed, making sure to avoid getting shot while they shot at us.“Make sure to avoid their guns!” I yelled. The whiff of wolfsbane became stronger as they got closer.Maybe Conan was right. I should have gone with him. Due to my stubbornness, I had lost so many alpha friends.“What should we do now?” one of the alphas running beside us asked while lo
BradThe guards rushed to me, welcoming me into the pack, however, they were not the individuals I wanted by my side.I wanted Jade. Where was she?Taking one of the private cars to the hospital, I had the driver wait for me as I entered the building to see her but was disappointed to find out she had left the hospital.“So she’s home?” I asked.“I would love to say that she is but her phone and bags are still in her office.”“Didn’t you say she has been gone for more than an hour?”“Yes,” the doctor I was talking to nodded. Where was she?I asked to see Conan with the doctor leading me to the ward. There in bed laid the man. He was in bad shape. “He shouldn’t have gone on that rescue mission he went on,” the doctor shook his head in pity. “He should have known you as the alpha are capable of handling yourself but he was stubborn. Now look at him, lying there with more broken bones than he had before leaving. What was he going to do against those creatures which you alphas could ha
Conan’s POVI awoke to see Jade sleeping on a couch by the window and she looked flawless doing it.For the first time since we started seeing each other I didn’t see her as my future mate or anything romantic, but as a woman trying really hard to get back her children. She was really trying to be there for the pack and also be there for her children.I was going to tell the children that their mother really tried her best for them when we were finally done. For now, we had to start up the new plans for the rescue or we would stay in this pack for more years to come without getting a clue on the children’s whereabouts. The woman stretched awake, opening her eyes like an animated character.“Good morning,” I smiled.“Hey,” she stood up to come to me as I held a hand up. “What is it? Did something happen?”The panic in her voice was enough to know she cared.“I’ll help you end this,” I said with a blunt tone. “We just need to find out what makes him tick and… you know what? We’ll fuck h
