...Haley POV...The time had finally come to get Maverick. We had spent the next day going over our plan. Kayden felt the best plan of action was to go after him while they were receiving a shipment. Many of their members would be gone to watch over the docks while we could sneak in without them noticing. After reviewing all their hideouts, Kayden figured that Chase probably had Maverick in his own house. It was a highly guarded location, but we made sure to know every single detail of their hideout. Kayden had me look over the blueprints while he worked on surveillance. Kayden tasked Damian as a hacker. Damian needed to find a way to hack into their security cameras so that we could loop their surveillance cameras from discovering we were there. Now, I was waiting in a nearby car with Damian, as Kayden entered Chase's house. Kayden wanted us here, so there would be a quick escape car to prevent him from getting caught. We knew it would only be a matter of time until Chase figured ou
...Haley POV...When I woke up I was both groggy and confused. What happened? Where am I? I wondered to myself. I sat up and grabbed my head as the pain began to sear into it. I winced from the severity of the pain. I tried to open my eyes to figure out where I was. I looked around, but nothing seemed familiar. The room was practically empty apart from a bucket in the corner. The walls were made of a mud-like concrete, as the entire room was a neutral brown colour. From the ceiling to the floors. Everything was plain and dull. I closed my eyes trying to focus on how I got here. Fragments of memories began to swim in my mind. The heist. The car. The noise. The gunshots. Damian.Oh, my Gawd. Damian. The memories of Damian lying on the ground motionless woke me up. My head had begun to stop spinning, which is when I remembered that someone had knocked me out. It must've been whoever shot Damian. I feel something hard move in my fist, which is when I realize I still have the seatbelt cu
I woke up after a long nap. That must've been the best sleep I've ever had. I stretched and smiled as I smelt the familiar smell of pancakes and bacon in the air. I got out of bed, and put on one of Damian's shirts, then made my way into the kitchen, to see Damian wearing nothing but a pair of sweatpants as he gracefully flipped pancakes in the pan. He spun around to see me watching him, and gave me his cocky smile. I referred to it as the Damian smile. It was a mix of a wink and a side smile. A look he pulled off all too well. He set down the pan and walked over to me, wrapping his arms around me. I wrapped my arms around him in return and leaned back anticipating my kiss. Damian responded right away, reaching up to hold my face as he deepened our kiss. I felt my panties grow wet from the passionate kiss. I began to get light-headed from the lack of oxygen, and gently pushed him away. Damian ended our kiss, then pulled my head into his chest, as we stood there allowing my lungs to g
My head was absolutely spinning. I've never felt this dizzy in my life. I tried to open my eyes, but every time I did, it felt like I was going to throw up. "Haley? Haley. You need to wake up." An urgent voice called to me.I tried to open my eyes once more, only to close them tight immediately as I felt my stomach twist on itself. I felt something cool and metallic come in contact with my hand. "Haley. Please. There's no time. You need to get up." The voice called once more. I felt someone shift me so I was sitting up. I sat hunched over, with my head between my knees as my head continued to spin. I felt like absolute crap. It felt as if I entered a boxing match and had the cookies punched out of me. Whoever was near me got closer and smacked my face on either side in hopes of waking me up. I groaned as I tried to open my eyes. The moment I did, I felt myself heave forward. Whoever was in the room, must've expected it, as it wasn't landing on my lap, but rather inside of a metal
"It all started a couple of years ago. I was an undercover cop that worked for one of the cases Jessica represented. They needed my testimony in order to get the gangster locked away. We didn't really stay in contact after that, but the night you were attacked, Jessica reached out to me." Kayden remarked, making my eyes go wide. I regretted the movement right away, as my head screamed in anger."Wait. You know Jess?" I asked.Kayden rolled his eyes at me, then nodded."That's not the point. Now listen." Kayden firmly commanded.I closed my eyes and nodded my head, trying hard to forget the pain."Jess explained what had happened, and how Chase had nearly killed you. I didn't fully understand the entire situation at the time, so decided to sit down with both Zane and Jessica to figure out what was going on. Zane explained how you had accidentally walked into an armed robbery, and were nearly killed. He told me everything from how you impersonated a CEO to Damian telling you what to do
I nod my head in understanding. But there's one thing I don't understand."I don't understand. If you convinced Chase not to go after me, then why did he take Maverick?" I ask confused.Kayden paused for a moment, sighing. He looked away at first, then continued. "I'll explain more of that later. But to go into detail, I found out that Chase had followed Damian to England. He knew about the wedding, and had planned on getting to him then. I knew his life was in danger, so the only way I was able to protect him was by us going there as well. Which is why I told you about the wedding. I needed a reason for us to go there. I knew since Damian didn't know me, there was no way I would be able to get him to leave with me, without causing suspicion. The other issue was Jessica. I couldn't just show up at their wedding. I knew the moment she saw me, she would know something was up." Kayden replied. "Wait. So when I went to Jessica's wedding, is that why you didn't come with me?""Yes. I kne
"Hey, don't worry. The people that were killed were horrible people. The Industrial Guild is highly involved with sex trafficking. They don't view women as equals, but rather as commodities. The world is better without them." Kayden replied in an attempt to make me feel better. "Don't worry about that anyways. That's not important.""Why did you do all of that anyway? Why did you make me think as though Maverick had been kidnapped when he was safe all this time?" I asked."Because I couldn't risk losing my cover. Chase had yet to see any sign of me helping him. So I knew a move like this would stop him from trying to interfere. I didn't know Damian personally, and it was too much of a risk for him to know the real truth. The same with you. I couldn't count on you not accidentally blowing my cover, so I couldn't confide in you. Also, with Maverick gone, he was now safe should Chase somehow find us. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you, but just know that I did it for his safety. I knew if Ch
My eyes went wide in surprise. Damian was here? But how? Wait.. is he even ok? Seeing my concerned expression, Damian made his way over to me. He was slightly limping, favouring his left side, but otherwise seemed fine.I began to look him over as if mentally checking for any sign of injuries. My gaze shifted to his abdomen, looking for his bullet wound. I focused on the area as if trying to see through his shirt like an x-ray machine, looking to see any sign of trauma.Damian ignored my gaze and sat down on the bed next to me. "I'm ok." He replied, answering my unasked question.I cocked my head to him as if doubting his response. Damian offered me his signature half-smile before holding my hands."I promise. I'm ok. Kayden had me checked over. It was a clean in and out. No arteries or intestines were injured. It's just a bit sore but other than that I'm fine."I shifted in the bed, allowing Damian to lie down on the bed beside me. Damian did so without hesitating. He carefully pul
