Chapter 5

Sienna:

“Are you sure that as a married woman you should be going out of the house at this time of night?” Natania asked from behind me. I had to turn around to face her, and she raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest.

“Diablo is well aware that I'm going out and I doubt that I'm going to need to ask you for permission considering that my husband knows and that I am this family’s…”

“You don't need to ask me for permission to do anything. I was asking if it was wise of you to go out at this time of night. What are people going to say? Or that does not concern you, considering that you don't really care about the reputation of the family, do you?” She asked, hitting me with something that she knew was not true. She was only taking out her anger because Diablo was disagreeing with Maria.

“Is there anything that you need from me, Natania? Because I believe that you have things to take care of and neither one of them should include me. What I do and what I am up to concerns my husband and my husband alone. If Diablo does not know that I'm going out, then you have every single right to come and ask me where I am going and if it is wise of me. However, considering that he does know, it means that I'm neither a child, nor am I doing something wrong.” I said, looking her dead in the eye. She did not say a word for a few moments, but when I took a step back, she cleared her throat.

“I'm not done with you, nor am I done with speaking. While Diablo is responsible for you and is responsible for what you do, I am responsible for this family's safety and I'm not going to allow a person like you to ruin my peace, my daughter's peace, and my family's peace. Ever since you arrived here and nothing has happened and gone, the waited Alonzo turned his back on us. Everything is against us and simply because of your father. A traitor that we had amongst us when you were in the hospital. Who knows what you can be doing and how you would be betraying us just as he did.” She said, and I took a deep breath, avoiding her eyes.

“Is there anything else that you want to add? Or are you just throwing harsh words simply because you know that that is the one thing that you can do? I have things to take care of and I do not need to be late. You know, it's just not likable of a woman of my status to be out of her house for a very long time.” I said, hitting her with her own words.

“A woman of your status should not be going out at this time at all. If you are out, what would you leave for the men to do? You should be at home tending to your children, and for the family's sake, you should be avoiding trouble. But now, rather than take care of your son, take care of your children's studies. You are out roaming around the streets of Rome, Florence, Milan and Paris.” She said, making my eyes harden. “Don't think that because Diablo is allowing you to go with him that it is your job to be by his side in such meetings. The Dirty work is done by the men. You as a woman should take care of your house and your house alone. And that means that even Maria is not responsible for taking care of the boys or your daughter. The daughter that you seem to be neglecting so much that she wonders where her mother is.”

“You know for a fact I'm neither neglecting my children nor is my daughter wondering where her mother is. Why? Because if I go for a day, I come back and spend ten with them and I take good care of them. It is you who did not know how to take care of your daughter. You're mistaking me for yourself because the last thing that I'm going to do is neglect my children. I believe that you should know that very well.” I said, making her eyes become colder than they already were.

I didn't even know how things managed to turn the way that they did between Natania and I. The two of us were close when I first arrived. She was kind to me. It seemed to me that things have changed and the drastic change was one that I could not process, especially since I could not find a reason to it.

I took a step back and looked out of the house before she could say another word. I knew that she might have a lot to tell me, but that was not something that I wanted to hear.

I was going to walk for a bit, Diablo thankfully knew that, and the men were going to be watching from a distance anyway. It was not like I was going to be alone. But I needed to clear my mind and I needed some fresh air. Some fresh air away from the house and away from all the conflict that could go on.

The night was cold and I couldn't help the smile that formed on my face a gentle breeze hit my cheeks.

I didn't know how much I would miss having such a raise around me, but with everything going on, with traveling the way that we did and with me wanting to take care of the children and not leaving them alone, I have been neglecting my own mindset. It was something that Diablo did not want me to do, but sometimes I couldn't help it. Especially when I knew that a part of me blamed myself for what went on.

Had it not been for me marrying Diablo, maybe Alonzo couldn't have turned his back on them. But I doubted that. It was simply when I married Diablo that things turned around. Alexandra, my best friend, the woman that I knew as Lexi, was by their side for a very long time. It was just a shame that they did not see them for what they truly were, and even if they did, neither one of them was mentioning it. At least Natania wasn't.

I tightened the jacket around my body, and I couldn't help but smile. However, that smile was quick to fade when I heard his voice. The man's voice that confirmed that I was right. I did see him on the safe grounds.

“I am surprised that Diablo would allow you to be going out alone, especially at this time of night.” He said from behind me. I turned around to face him and he raised his hands and mocks her under as I saw three of the men that Diablo sent dead on the pavement.

“Alonzo.” I said calmly.

“It's good to see you again, Sienna…”
