A Test?

ELENA'S POV

The maid came and dropped off a gown saying that the don had sent it specially for our outing.

As I unboxed the package, my heart was in my throat as I didn't know what to expect, I didn't do well with revealing dresses and he seemed like the type to want his woman to be a bit revealing so my guess was that this was either a strapless gown or a ridiculously short gown with a heart-shaped neckline to expose some cleavage.

I had never been proved more wrong in my life because as I finally brought out the wrapped clothes, I realized that it wasn't even a gown.

It was a three-piece suit, tailored to perfection, with a crisp white shirt, a fitted waistcoat, and formal black trousers.

I was taken aback by the sheer elegance of it all. The fabric was luxurious, and it seemed to be exactly in my size.

The suit was not revealing or flashy, but rather dark and sophisticated. I couldn't wait to put it on and see how it fit.

As I began to change, I realized that the suit was not just any suit - it was a statement. The don was making a point by dressing me in attire that was traditionally masculine, yet tailored to accentuate my feminine features.

Wow. Just my style. I sighed as I put on the clothes completely and smiled at the reflection greeting me from the mirror.

It was superb and it fits perfectly as guessed. This was usually my style of dressing but I didn't have the money to get it and now I had it.

Checking the box again, I saw a pair of heels and smiled. The perfect combo. I was used to walking in heels, that was usually my style when I wanted to fit in a boutique or something.

An hour later, I had gotten ready and curled my hair, and with the help of a maid who insisted she helped, I put on light makeup and made my way downstairs.

As I walked downstairs, my phone pinged with a message from an unknown number and I paused to look at it.

“We have a visitor” the message read simply.

That explained the voices I was hearing from downstairs.

Bracing myself, I walked down the stairs completely, my heels clicking against the tiles as the voices died down.

One quick glance around the living room showed me that Luca was sitting on the couch cross-legged with a dull look on his face while another man sat opposite him with a black suit and dark glasses.

The man's eyes roved over me briefly before he removed his glasses to reveal dashing hazel eyes.

“You must be Mrs Ferraro,” The man said with a thick Italian accent as he stood up and bowed to me.

I walked over to him with a raised chin and smiled slightly. “Yes, and you are?”

“Mr Guevara. Don of another group here and my supplier…” Luca offered, waving his hand to the man who glanced at him with a tight-lipped smile.

“Oh, a supplier,” I said, not knowing what that meant but refusing to look clueless in front of the man who was staring me over with dark eyes.

“It's a pleasure to meet you,” he said with a raised brow and he gently took my hand in his and was bringing it to his lips when I removed my hand and scowled.

“A handshake or nothing works fine” My voice was hard and the man smirked.

Luca's eyes had darkened and he sat up. “Guevara, watch it. There are so many reasons I want to kill you already. Try that one more time and I'll have your head on a pole” Luca warned while I went to sit.

The man let out a chuckle and sat back down. “Of course, Don Luca. She's perfect for you. I can see why you chose her. She's the perfect trophy for any don in the world”, the man didn't bother to hide the way he stared me down.

I rolled my eyes at his perverted behavior and looked back at Luca. “Luca…”

The man stiffened as I called Luca by his first name but Luca ignored him and looked at me.

“Yes?”

“Why is he here today? I wasn't informed that he was coming” I said with a raised brow.

Luca nodded and pulled out his gun from his inner jacket, placing it on the glass table.

“One moment. I was just finalizing things with him here but just give me a moment to grab something. Guevara, make your way out” he said before standing up and going up the stairs.

Meaning I was alone with the man.

“I can't tell if you're bold or just stupid”, the man suddenly said.

I frowned at him. “watch your tongue”

He leaned back in his seat. “You're a beautiful one but Luca falling in love? Please. Something's up”

It was my turn to roll my eyes at his comment. “Oh please. Just because you've never fallen in love doesn't mean no one can” I taunted.

He didn't bother to hide the anger flashing in his eyes.

“I would say that you watch how you talk to me,” he said, his tone low.

Luca was still not here yet and I was beginning to get nervous inwardly.

The man's eyes darted towards the gun that Luca had left on the table and before he could make a move, I had ducked and grabbed the gun, my small body enabling me to move swiftly.

I pointed it to his head even though I didn't know how to use the goddamn thing but I didn't want to show any fear.

The man raised his hands in surrender but there was a smirk playing on his lips.

Why was he laughing?

Suddenly the sound of clapping from behind reached my ears and I turned around and was confused to see Luca clapping with a smile.

“Well done, Elena. You passed”
