Chapter 19: Did he touch you?

ELENA'S POV

Enrico spread his glossy lips into a thin smile.

“Well?”, he asked, as though I should have been ecstatic to see him.

Sighing, I resolved to do this. I knew that I was not much help to Luca and the only thing he got out of this was whatever marrying me made him gain meanwhile I literally owed him my life.

Just this once.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him, raising a brow.

“I'll cut straight to the crap. Come work for me” he simply put out.

“Not interested. I don't think my husband would be pleased to hear you say this” I said, crossing my arms as I leaned on the wall.

“Oh c'mon honey, he doesn't really like you, you know? He's probably in Natalie's room already. I can give you so much” his eyes roved around my body making me sick.

“How much are you willing to pay though?” I suddenly asked.

His brown eyes lit up as he saw him walk to him and smile at him.

“200 thousand,” he said, his tongue sliding over his lips as I placed a hand on his neck.

I tried not to gag from the stench of various female perfumes on him as I ran a hand about his body while maintaining eye contact, careful to keep my hands to his waist.

“Let's make it half a million” I whispered.

He swallowed and nodded immediately just as I felt his pockets. Jackpot.

“Done” he whispered not noticing how I had slipped the flash drive strapped to a rope into my hands.

How stupid was this man? How could any woman fail to do this?

He was still watching me with that wolfish grin, wondering why I was not doing anything.

My kleptomania began to take hold of me and my eyes caught sight of his gold chain around his neck. My fists clenched and I quickly shut my eyes stepping away from him.

“No deal. I'm not interested” I suddenly said, the lipstick in my hand clenched in my hand.

“What do you mean by that?! Do you know how much that is?!” He seethed with rage.

“Lucky for you, I studied maths,” I said sarcastically as I struggled to keep my gaze away from his flashing pieces of jewelry.

“I do not take no for an answer!” He suddenly yelled.

I sighed and discreetly tucked the flash drive into my purse while pressing the button under the lipstick.

10 seconds. Luca better not fail.

“Too bad. I'm Luca's wife. Get used to the idea” I said nonchalantly, my gaze darting behind him to look at the door wondering if I could tackle him and make a run for it.

7 seconds.

Suddenly the door burst open and Luca stormed in

“What are you doing here?!”, He thundered.

Enrico quickly looked back at him and forced a smile. “I was just asking if she needed anything”

Luca looked at me and I nodded though it was to confirm that I had gotten what we discussed.

Luca looked back at Enrico and scowled at him. “Get out”

Enrico quickly scrambled out and I was left with Luca.

“What's even in the goddamn flash drive and where the fuck were you?!” I angrily whispered, tossing him the flash drive.

“It was. This is someone's life” he muttered looking it over.

“What? Explain..”

“I went to see Natalie,” He said and my brow raised.

He sighed and shook his head. “Not like that. She needed my help, I had to bust her out of the quarters and this drive is the key to her freedom forever. She's in the car already and I've instructed to get her away” he hurriedly explained.

“What's so important about it though? Didn't she want this job?” I asked confused.

“She did not,” he said while leading me out the door. “She was blackmailed. Her brother had been caught with a mafia's girl and Enrico wanted to kill him so she offered herself and her brother to be in his service to spare her brother's life and keep the information away from the man. This flash is video evidence” Luca said, grabbing my hand.

Oh…he was helping someone.

He led me out into the parking lot and told me to get in while he got into the driver's seat himself.

“Strap in,” he said, putting In his seatbelt as he removed a small gun from his inner jacket and placed it beside him.

“Don't worry, it's the last time that I'll ask you for this. Sorry for any inconvenience. Don't hate me for this, please” He suddenly said, turning to look at me as he switched on the ignition.

“No, I mean she does deserve a free life and I imagine how she must feel. She must be really close to you to have you help her” I said, looking at him closely.

He shrugged and began to pull out of the space where we had parked.

“Yeah, she saved my life in this very club once.” He said thoughtfully. “Nice girl she is and for so long I've been looking for a way to get her out and today I finally did. Thank you. She'll be sent back to her family” He said thoughtfully.

I was silent then he continued speaking while looking in the rearview mirror.

“Elena. Did he touch you?” He asked, his gaze still fixed on something in the rearview mirror as he pulled over.

“No, but I did have to touch him to get the drive,” I said, shuddering at the memory.

“Sorry about that,” he said just as someone knocked on our window.

Enrico.

My heart stilled, had they noticed that the girl and the flash were missing?

Luca looked at him coldly and rolled down the window.

“Leaving already?” Enrico asked, leaning on the doorframe.

Luca gritted his teeth and nodded. “Yeah”

His hands were clenching and unclenching on the wheel and I knew he was furious about something.

Enrico nodded and leaned up, giving me a once-over.

Suddenly Luca pulled out his gun and shot at Enrico's shoulder.

Enrico let out a yelp and fell to the ground while my eyes widened.

“Never forget the code, Enrico. Not in my city” Luca warned him before we pulled out of the place.

I looked at him in shock. “What was that for?”

He grinned at me as he swerved in the direction of the mansion. “Rule no 2, we don't harm women and children. I won't stand for it”
