“Bene, come desideri (Well, as you wish)” Rocco shrugged and wiped the spit off with his handkerchief
Marcello yelled for his men to protect him but nobody made a move. His second order got everyone of them running but not to his side, to his surprise. They all rushed to Rocco’s back and aimed at him.
Not believing his eyes, he kept stuttering “What.. what the hell?”
Before anyone could blink, Lord Marcello had been apprehended by his own men while Rocco stood there with a smirk dancing on his lips.
With a snap of his finger, he was tied to a chair. Everyone ignored all his threats and shouts because no one could step in, it was Rocco Lorenzo and no one dared to breathe.
“Your thirty seconds is up. You just got a new wristwatch, how come you can’t keep to time?” Rocco mocked and clacked his tongue
Lord Marcello kept screaming and threatening that he would pay for it but Rocco was not moved. He walked closer to him and roamed the gun around his cheeks and mouth while Lord Marcello trembled in the chair. He pointed the gun to his glabella but changed his mind for the generosity of his birthday.
“You piece of sh…” Lord Marcello was still speaking when two shots landed on his knee joints
His words were cut short with a long scream of pain. Blood splattered everywhere as his knees hung down, dismembered from his thigh.
“La tua vita è il tuo regalo di compleanno. Considerati fortunate (Your life is your birthday gift. Consider yourself lucky)” he completed his sentence and everywhere scattered with screams of horror while he cleaned off the blood on his face
All the guests scattered in different directions as they scrambled for safety.
“I know you are very cheeky and fearless but not with me Rocco Lorenzo. I will make sure to put the vineyard to a good use and who knows? You might be a good source of fertilizer some other time” He whispered to him
Lord Marcello groaned in pain as blood seeped out of his wound.
“You… bas… basttt.. bastaarrd” he managed to pull through but Rocco only lighted his cigarette and told him since it will only hurt more he should keep his gutter shut
As he turned and walked to his car, both his men and that of Lord Marcello’s men rushed to follow him. He had managed to buy them over without the knowledge of Lord Marcello and that made his work easier.
They pulled over at his office where Bojana, his aide was waiting for him with the transfer of rights of the vineyard’s documents.
“Well-done Rocco Lorenzo” she said to him with a smile and handed over the file
“I trust your competency any day and anytime” he commented and his mouth curved into a smile as they bumped fist
“The boys are out for dinner” she informed him
“Why didn’t you go with them? This can wait” he questioned
She lit her cigarette and took a puff before answering “I don’t feel like. Why bother when I can enjoy the scenery with you here”
He scoffed.
“You should focus on other things when we are not working. Don’t let your life revolve around the gang alone” he advised and her eyes rolled tiredly
“Talk about describing yourself. You never see anything else except work” she slammed and he suddenly yanked her closer to his side with her waist
He leant closer for a kiss and her eyes gradually closed as his lips came closer to hers.
“Get me a bed warmer” he muttered to her face and removed her hand from his waist before walking away, making her stumble but she was quick to regain her balance
“Quello stupido bastardo (That corny bastard)” she cursed under her breath and threw the cigarette into the fountain before stomping away angrily.

|Rocco|
The turbulence of the water was so high that our ship fought for her life endlessly. Everyone panicked and scrambled around to safety but I couldn’t move no matter how hard I tried. Nothing was working and my heart sank with every second as I watched people rush to safety while I lost all hope. My legs were perfectly fine but they wouldn’t move. I struggled to get on my feet and just when it felt like there was a glimpse of hope, my legs buckled and I met myself on the floor.
Once again!
A hand stretched towards me finally and I happily grabbed it without thinking twice. A helper I prayed for was desperately in front of me and I didn’t want to lose the chance. The hand helped me up and started leading me to the other part of the ship. I wouldn’t know if that was safer than where majority of the boarders were running to but at least, I was not on a spot any longer and it was kind of refreshing.
“Do we stand a chance? Are we going to make it out of here alive? This storm is really raging hard” I blabbered to my helper but he just silently pulled me along.
Every single question I asked was not met with an answer. Perhaps, my helper was mute. I decided to keep shut before he would throw my hand off due to my curiosity and followed blindly. On getting to the other side, he shifted the veil on his face to the side and my eyes bulged in horror. It was him again.
That callous animal in human skin. The one whose resentment weighed on my mind more than my happiness. Never! Never will I ever forget him.
My eyes flickered with both fear and desperation. He was everywhere I went to, no matter what and now, he’s was standing right in front of me.
“You think I wouldn’t see you anywhere you go?” he cackled. His ugly brown teeth arranged in italics presented themselves disgustingly in front of me.
“No! Don’t do this! Just let me go!” I trembled, my legs shifting back in fear but he was faster than me
Before I could pick up the pace, his huge hands like the tiger’s paws were already on my slim and small shoulder. My tiny frame was nothing hard for him to lift, and there I was, dangling at his mercy.
“Please… just llllee….eeet me gggo..ooo” I pleaded with my last breath as the collar of my shirt hugged my neck tightly
His monstrous laugh echoed in my ears and before I could blink, his grip on me loosened and within few seconds, my back kissed the cold and dark water.
“Welcome to your grave!” the sea echoed to me as I sank deeper before I heard a cough from afar.
My eyes flew open at the sound of a loud cough and it was met with the slight darkness of the room. Every windows and doors were shut at my command and the only light illuminating the room was a red light coming from the far end of the room.I turned to see someone on my bed coughing and adjusting herself before diving into another round of heaving snoring. She was sounding like an over-packed truck and that got me mad big time. My hand connected to the mini apple shaped table beside my bed and it produced a bang loud enough to shake the building. The lady flew up fearfully as she scanned her environment to make sure a war had not broken out.“What are you?” I growled deeply and she sat there looking at me with the blanket around her heaving chest“Did I just ask a statue a question? Am I not talking to a human? Cat got your tongue!?” questions flew out of my mouth endlessly while she shook at my voiceShe managed to find her voice but couldn’t respond audibly. “You… I… got here… last
|Irena|The tiny street was filled with loud noises coming from the metals clashing against each other as people roared to the sound which was being supported by drums. Tents filled everywhere with different sellable under each one.The festival of new season was being celebrated and every attendee painted some facial artwork on their faces to identify with the festival. Ranging from clothes, accessories, ancient crafts to everything one ever wanted, they were all available at slash prices.“Get your fortune read! Don’t you want to know what life has in store for you? oh ye weak humans! Let the gods guide your path” my tiny voice managed to ring through the loud noise.By the time I had screamed for more than five times, I finally had my first customer under my small red tent and I got down to business.“You have to be careful today. There will be a large tornado at your workplace but if you are in the right place, it will pass you by” The first customer seemed confused at the mentio
|Bojana|Rocco had always been like that. We fought over and over before we got to this close stage and nobody can ever understand us. We found ourselves at our lowest and ever since then, we worked our way up.In blood, sweat and tears.I had seen Rocco in almost all types of his emotions but one thing he never did was break down in front of me. There were times I heard him cry in his room but never in front of me even though I did that a lot on his shoulders. He never let anyone be in his bed till the following morning for their own sake because he would always wake up with a nasty temper. The dreams that wakes him up always prompted him to be violent so he detested having someone on the receiving end of his rage.I had warned the bed warmer not to ever sleep till morning by his side but I guess my warnings fell on deaf ears and she had seen for herself what the consequences of her disobedience was. As we walked along the long hallway, I could hear tiny sobs coming from her as she e
His steps were solid as he approached the tied men lined up in front of him on a chair. He walked around them in circles as he said his lines.“Did you think I wouldn’t find out because I was busy with other things? You must have forgotten I have eyes everywhere” he continued and stopped abruptly in front of them“Do you have something to say?” he suddenly asked the first person and before he could respond, the sound of bones cracking filled the air.The sound was followed by a roar of painful shout as the man’s arm dangled from his right shoulder. Rocco had broken his arm and disconnected it from his shoulder in the span of seconds and no one dared make a sound. He moved on to the next and stared at him for a brief second before he lodged a bullet in his thigh, adding to the existing scream in the room.“Bring me the table” he commanded and immediately, a mini table was brought to him.At his signal, the table was placed in front of the third man and his right hand was forcefully pla
|Rocco|As the car sped to the meeting point, I couldn’t keep what the strange lady said off my mind. It kept pressing no matter how I tried to shut it out. Who was she? How come she wasn’t afraid of me? How did she know that I was going for a meeting? What exactly did she mean that I would die if I attend the meeting?“Cosi frustrante (So frustrating)” I found myself blurt out and a deep sigh left my throat as I rested my back and closed my eyes. Bojana told me not to mind her words but I didn’t make a sound. She wouldn’t stop there and I knew that so I was prepared for her lectures.“Rocco, you are not someone to be moved by a thing so insignificant. She purposely got in your way just to get money and since you were generous enough to give it out because I know that you didn’t fall for her trick, she just said the nonsense to get you hooked. She’s not worth your attention so just be rest assured” “Matteo proposed that it should just be us and he also gave his word that he will only
I brought the one on the roof down and Bojana also sighted one which she gunned down without hesitation. The whole house was covered with bullets raining from every angle. We were surrounded but Matteo was covered. I could heard his evil laugh as I fought for my life and tried to also cover for Bojana till the backup arrives.I tried shooting one of his men at my right but I couldn’t lift my hands anymore. They were dead! A glance at Matteo and his drink, I realized what he had done. I had been poisoned and with the way he was laughing at me, he knew it was already working.“Don’t stress yourself Rocco, it will only get worse and painful” he warned before another mocking laughter followed where he was seated, looking at my helpless situation.Bojana did her best to cover up for the both of us before the backups finally came and in a matter of seconds, they had cleared every men that were shooting at us.“You are so mannerless while doing business” I growled at Matteo who just shrugged
|Irena|He retracted from the door and marched over to my side once more. The discomfort on his secretary’s face was so obvious but I couldn’t care less. I just avoid her gazes and bent down to pick the remnants of my bike.“You, what are you?” I heard him question at my back but I didn’t flinchI comfortably packed my bike and stood up to face him “It’s not what, it is who. How can one be so full of himself?” His statement got me hissing as I turned to go on my way. I could feel his eyes on my entire body but I struggled to get out of there as soon as possible without tripping, the fear had gripped me too much.I could hear the car’s ignition after some minutes but I never dared looked back and just continued on my way before it zoomed past me.“I hope I am not in trouble” I mumbled to myself and sought cover before my heart almost dropped“Oh my!” the pajamas man had jumped out of nowhere once again, demanding for his money of courseIn anger, I threw three hundred dollar bills at
She was consistent with her yelling. Most times she instructed me to do something, it would always come with a yell. Never had she ever lost her voice and she rarely got sick, the only thing that Auntie fought with and lost the battle was her left eyesight. When I knew Auntie, she had trouble with seeing well with her left eye and she did all her best to treat it but nothing worked. Three years ago, she went blind totally in the left eye but trained herself to get used to the right eye only without wallowing much in self-pity. When I asked her how she was able to move on so quickly, she only smiled.“When life throws something bad at you. Catch it and use it well to teach life a lesson that you also have your own power” she finally told me one day after I disturbed the daylight out of her,***I finished helping with the arrangement and decided to go and withdraw the money I deposited at the bank few days ago since I needed to get some things for myself and the house.“Hmmm! The smell
I just realized that we haven’t really discussed Auntie and who exactly she was. She got introduced to me by my mother, and I grew up relying on her when we moved to the town. She helped me so much and brought me to stay with her when my mother got arrested for murder. We didn’t have any situation or opportunity to talk deeper about her, and I had always felt too comfortable to be bothered by all that. All Auntie did in her entire life was cook. She would cook even on days when she was sick to the bones. There was a time she collapsed while cooking because she was doing it nonstop. The funniest thing was that there was no customer to eat all that she had cooked because it was midnight. I came out to have a glass of water and saw her cooking aggressively before she passed out.“You should have just taken it slow. Why were you cooking this hard?” I scolded her as I attended to her in her room“I have to prepare it for them. If not, they might stay hungry the entire year,” she groaned in
The stare of horror on their faces showed how scary my screams and dripping palms were. We all stood there looking at each other, my body trembling with hatred and disbelief. I couldn’t comprehend all that I had just watched. A head banging headache swept me off my feet as my chest rose and fell. Before I knew it, I was on the floor with dim eyes. My body couldn’t bear the weight of oppression from my emotions. I had broken down once again.“Let’s help her up! Irena!” Auntie’s scream barely kept me awake before I passed out finally.I woke up to the fluid being passed in my body and saw the same doctor that treated Rocco during the first gunshot standing close to the door and discussing with the men. I couldn’t hear what they were discussing, and I wasn’t even in the right frame of mind to eavesdrop.“We will talk more about it when she wakes up,” was another line I heard before I slept off again.I woke up to see everyone having dinner, and they all rushed to my side when they saw me
|Irena|I realized they were trying to distract us as I cried in the morgue. My mother’s body was filled with several marks that had come from bullying and torturing. It was then it dawned on me that all those bruises I saw when I last visited her were from the maltreatment she had been facing in the correctional center.“What a foolish daughter I am. I didn’t even think deeply into what the bruises could mean. How did I end up believing that she only tripped and wounded herself?” several thoughts filled my mind as we headed to the center to get the rest of her thingRocco held me in his arms as Paul drove the car silently to the location. His soft but huge arms were rubbing my shoulder to keep me calm, but I had so much going on in my head even though my mouth was not moving. The guards at the center were taking longer than usual to attend to my request until Rocco stepped in. I had previously told him to wait for me in the car while I go alone to get her things but when I saw that t
“We have to move faster than their investigations. We have done a lot to keep this buried for years. They cannot just come to ruin all our hard work at this point,” one of the men sitting at a round table with sushi and several sashimi dishes glaring at them.“That’s why we have been taking them out one after the other. We cannot allow any loophole in this operation. One of our men is on the way to give us the report on the progress of the operation,” another responded, reaching for his cup for a drinkThe other men released a uniform groan as they released their ties, buttering their frustrations. They had all been unsettled ever since Irena found the files they had been searching for all year. They had turned the house upside down over and over but none of them could find where her mother kept it.“We already concluded that she didn’t have the file. I don’t understand how that bitch managed to hide the file till her daughter found it. We even had the inmates bully and beat her just
|Irena|I couldn’t believe all that I had just heard. My head tried to process it over and over but it felt like it would explode if I thought about it too much. What in the world happened to Rocco? How did he manage to stay calm in all of that? What was the reason behind him keeping quiet and holding back for so long? I had millions of questions running through my head but I couldn’t bring myself to ask him any.“You smart fool!” those were the only words that flew out of my mouth softly. I couldn’t begin to imagine the pain he had been enduringThe day I showed him the picture of my father, his father was also there. How did he not react? Why did he not explain to me and bore the hatred from me? I had hurt him with my words and actions but he never for once tried to bail himself out.“Why did you not tell me? Why did you not point it out that your father was also a victim of Bruno? How did you even manage to stay in that hell and pretend as if nothing was happening?” my tears flowed
It was around the fourth year of my stay in Italy. At that time, I had bonded with everyone in the villa and became a legal member of the family. My father had started taking me to meetings and made me handle some of his tasks because of how good I was.I couldn’t hide my extreme hatred and disgust at first. It was too hard to pretend. The person that killed my mother was the one I had been adoring, worshipping, and calling father all these while. No doubt, he was also the one that killed my father. He ruined me and my family and also had the nerve to play on my memory.“Is something wrong? You haven’t said anything much or even trained for days ever since you woke up. Are you mad at me for hitting your head on the pole?”Bojana couldn’t stop feeling bad because she thought my attitude changed due to the incident but after assuring her that the accident was not the issue and that I just needed some time to myself, she decided to let me be till I would come around by myself. It took me
Of course, he was happy at the proposal but he was also someone else’s slave so the uncertainty of his master releasing him was the biggest obstacle.“Thank you..” His eyes lit up with happiness; everyone could tell that the offer gladdened his heart so there was no way he could even turn down the offer or say he wasn’t pleased with it“Once again, thank you for the offer but.. I don’t know… I am” his stuttering got in the line of his statement as he hesitatedHe didn’t want to upset both his master and his new savior. Thankfully, the person he saved already knew what the problem was so he came to the rescue“What? Are you afraid of your master? Do you think he won’t let you go?” he asked and Kovac nodded immediatelyHe had just said what was bothering him and with the look of things, it seemed like the Savior already thought of it too and how he would handle it.The man’s huge hands brushed his hair slightly in adoration as his lips curled into a smile for the first time he had ever
He woke up to find the ship fighting for balance in the middle of the sea and after a slight interrogation from two people, he found out that the ship had been sailing for almost a full day and he had been out the whole time.Rushing to the other side of the ship, he tried checking everywhere to see if there would be any face he could recognize but no one seemed familiar until he ran into one of the men that came to Mateha’s house. If he had his memories intact, he would have bolted from the scene before the man saw him, but unfortunately, he got captured before he could even say a word and was locked in the storage for the rest of the day without any food or water. The second day, he was dragged out by one of the hefty men, with his face looking like an overgrown garden because of the multitude of beards attached to his chin. His head was long and high in the center, making everything about his visuals traumatizing.“You think you can go anywhere? We own you now! We are your boss!” h
They marched back into the town and were led by the boy in the hood who knew Marko’s house. Unknown to them, Andrej had told his wife that if he doesn’t come back within the hours of one and two in the morning, she should flee with her son, Kovac.“I think something must have happened; we need to escape right now,” she tapped Irena’s mom, who had dozed off while waiting with her. They didn’t waste any time and rushed up to pack after waking the kids. Thanks to Kovac’s mom, they were able to escape before Bruno’s men came to the house.“Find them! Don’t ever let them get away!” His voice trembled with every word that came out of them as he gulped down the alcohol from the bottle in his hand every minute. They searched for them but couldn’t find them until they had to withdraw at daybreak. Unknown to them, they were hiding at the grandma’s house till the coast was clear. Early at dawn, they rushed to the dock, Marko told them, and took the first boat to Kovac’s town, where they settled
