50. DEEPER

All I saw before I collapsed again was Rocco motioning to his men to chase the man who was already several meters ahead of them. My eyes flew open at midnight to see his huge frame pacing the room before he slowly settled in front of the window with his hands in the pocket of his brown pants.

I could see the sides of his brows raised in anger. He was lost in thought, obviously. His intense gaze pierced through the shiny city. Many things must have been going on in his mind. He must have had so many questions he needed answers to.

For a tiny second, the thought of sleeping again so I wouldn’t interrupt him crossed my mind, but I also figured out that waking up would be the priority on his mind. I needed to take that off his mind, at least, so I gathered the strength to stand to my feet.

My legs were wobbly when I stood upon them, but I managed to take a brave step, and I was able to walk well to his side. He was really lost in thought because he didn’t know that I was at his back
