54. UNCOVERING

Everything about us has changed ever since that night. It felt like the wall between us was broken with the hot moment we had. I had wanted to go all the way, but we ended up talking about everything else, so we couldn’t continue.

We flew back to Italy, and life got busy again. He had to catch up with all the work he had left during the trip. Martins did a good job keeping the guys together in his absence. Rocco was rarely home, sometimes he would go out for three or four days before coming back. He fired me from being his consigliere for the main time so I could focus on my mother’s case, and I understood his point.

That morning, he had just gone out for a meeting out of town and told me that he would be going to Jamaica from there because he had an avoidable assignment. I got a call from Paul, who told me that he had another update concerning my case.

Martins and Bojana already went with Rocco, and I didn’t feel comfortable walking with his guards, so I just told them to sta
