Chapter 82

Isabella's P.O.V

I was surprised to hear the words blurt out of Ethan's mouth. For a moment there I was frozen in place. I didn't really know what to do but before I could recover, Ethan spoke again. "I'm sorry Isabella." He shook his head sadly. "I'm sorry about that. I really have no job going off like that here. I'm sorry."

Before I could say a word, Ethan rose from the bed and slowly walked out of the room leaving me behind with the picture of his smiling mother.

I was left stunned and speechless. I knew deep down under that facade and calm demeanor, Ethan really cared about me but having to hear him open up like that was surprising for real.

At the same time there was that promise I had made to myself after Logan, never to jump into a relationship. While Ethan was strong and handsome and caring, there were too many secrets surrounding him and I was just no fan of this.

I sat there in the bedroom for quite a while staring at the picture I had in my hand and at one point I even l
