*LYCIA*When I stepped down I had honestly been blank as to whom I would find waiting for me downstairs but I had to say I had been immensely shocked when I was met with familiar blue eyes. For a second they had made my heart skip a beat. But they weren’t the ones I wanted to see.His brown hair was cleanly set in place unlike how he usually wore it and dressed in a pristine white shirt Travis sat on the long couch looking at me with a smile. My mother and his, sat on single sofa chairs adjacent to it. They had stopped their quiet conversation when I stepped in.“Oh she is here,” Mom said beckoning me with her eyes to step inside the room, “Go on and sit down.”Something was wrong with this setting, I could feel it but I didn’t want to make a scene until I had been sure. I therefore tried to calm my anxious heart as I avoided eye contact with Travis and sat next to him. It’s not that I was scared or embarrassed to see him again but honestly he was just a nuisance to me at this point.
*LYCIA*“I cannot take this anymore! I am leav-” Before I could complete my sentence my mother’s phone rang and picking it up in an instant she paid no attention to my words making me feel more embarrassed and hurt. Was a phone call from someone else more important than listening to the feelings of her daughter?“What? No, you did right. I’ll see to it. Thank you for informing me,” she said to the caller on the other side, stepping out towards the window of the living room. She stared out of it for a moment and then turning around she looked at me and said, “I understand Lycia that you feel hurt because I hid such a big decision from you but I really want you to reconsider what I had said before. I know the way I went about this wasn’t right but whatever I had said earlier was true and you know it too. Travis will be your best option.”“Absolutely. My son is strong with his warlock powers and adept to handle and help you as the queen. Besides, he looks quite handsome too,” Mrs. Jennek
*LYCIA*“I need to stop her,” I murmured to myself getting away from the window and going back towards my door. Rattling the knob I try to open it, chanting and repeatedly in my head that I needed to stop my mother from hurting Seff.“What are you doing? You know it’s useless,” Travis said making me stop for a second. His words ticked my brain and turning only slightly to look at him over my shoulder I glared at him.“If you are going to help me then say something or keep your fucking mouth shut,” I bit out my words making him look away and understanding that he wouldn’t help me I turned back to try again on my own.Banging on the door a few more times I knew it was useless since it had been made with thick sturdy wood that my normal human strength wouldn’t be enough to break down. I am sure Seff would have easily torn down this door for me, if only he could get to me.Taking a step back, deciding that I would rather injure myself than let my mother injure Seff I mustered my magic onc
*SEFF* My insides felt as if they were charring and punishing me for denying my wolf spirit to be with my mate. The need I felt for Lycia was so intense that I could barely keep my composure. I had forced myself to be locked in a room to try and control myself a little before I could go back to talk to Lycia’s parents again. Was she fine?I know she was with her parents so there shouldn’t be any real harm to her but after seeing how her mother had reacted I was a little bit worried. She was as scary as Lycia made her out to be.A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts about Lycia as I heard her friend say, “I brought something for you that would hopefully help you.”Lycia? The smell was faint but I could no doubt smell Lycia and almost automatically my body reacted with waves of pleasure wishing me to take her and mark her. My claws that had been claiming at my skin stopped as I felt myself being lured towards the door. No! I can’t do that yet!Forcing myself to feel pain to remi
*LYCIA*“Seff, let that boy go,” dad said tentatively, making Seff shake his head as he glared at him.“Mate. Give Mate,” he grunted and feeling sad at the pain he was feeling I once again tried to pry myself away from my Mom but I didn’t have energy to force myself away from her tight hold.Looking towards me with a disgruntled expression, Dad helplessly tried to make a decision as Mrs. Jennek once again begged for her son’s life.“Aldith let Lycia go to him, we cannot let Travis die because of our selfishness,” he said and as if my mother had been betrayed she gripped firmly on me and shook her head.“No, I am not giving my daughter to him!” she said clasping so tightly on my shoulder that it made me wince and groan.“You are hurting her, Aldith. You need to let her go,” dad said, stepping forward towards her and slowly taking me away from her grip. With her strong hold off me I was now free and slightly able enough to stumble my way to Seff who released Travis from his grip at onc
*LYCIA* “You win!” My mother shouted banging open the door to our house. Her face was red from anger and exhaustion, nerves bulging in her neck to signify how worked up she had been.“Aldith! Calm down. You will scare her,” my Dad immediately rose up from beside me to stop her from doing something harsh.“No! I have had enough. I can’t take this anymore. She doesn’t understand how I feel and I have had enough,” she shouted glaring at me as Dad closed the door behind my mother and forced her to go sit in the single sofa chair.“That’s not true. She knows how you feel, it's just that she is young right now,” he said trying to make her feel better but it didn’t seem to be working as she glared at me with her bright green eyes the same color as my own.“No, she is no longer our little girl. She is all grown up and can take her decision on her own. She thinks she can do anything with herself now that she is an adult. She doesn’t care about anything and probably thinks of us to be a nuisan
*LYCIA*For the longest time Seff remained silent as he stared at the space in front of him with an almost inexplicable look. His eyes flashed from confusion to surprise to sadness to happiness and with each passing second that he delayed giving an answer I was getting tensed.Would he not want to be with me after all?It was normal, of course, for a person to want to take their time considering a matter as grave as this. It was connected to his life, who would want to risk dying for love? He would probably reject me. Maybe I should have told him the truth then I wouldn’t have come to love him so much if he had broken things off before.“The longer you take to answer, the more I become determined not to give my daughter to you,” Mom said, glancing towards me once as if asking me if this guy was really worth putting myself at risk over. “Do you think you will get this long a time in an adverse situation? You would have to be ready to put your life on the line. I want someone for her wh
*LYCIA*“What more do you have to say?” Mom asked rather harshly but she did stop to give him a chance. I suppose the situation had intrigued her.“Previously I had been defenseless to protect myself from the spirit. At times I had been injured badly but she could never take me away against my will, I presume that is a given thanks to the royal blood flowing through me,” he stopped, “But now I have a way to temporarily protect myself and therefore I am stronger now to protect Lycia, with the help of this. I think this information will help you find a greater breakthrough.”Then taking out something from under his shirt he shows a pretty blue pendant the same color as his eyes glinting quietly and royally in the light of the room.“How? Where did you get this?” Mom asked, letting go of me as she stepped forward to take a closer look at the jewel.“Jewel of Amours. It is a very rare jewel that only shows itself when it chooses to protect someone,” dad said, his eyes brightening like a j
