Katherine POV

I stared up at the sky, gazing at the stars as I coughed up water. I could hear a sigh of relief from the person who helped me. Turning, I saw David Matthews, Quentin's friend.

"What the hell were you thinking, jumping into the water?" David asked, running his hand through his wet hair. I didn't have the strength to answer, so I just lay there on the grass.

After a prolonged silence, David returned with a sweater and handed it to me. I sat up and wore it, feeling a bit warmer.

"Are you okay?" David asked, his voice laced with concern. I shook my head vigorously, my hand shaking. "I don't know what to believe anymore," I muttered, fresh tears streaming down my face.

David sighed and pulled me into his embrace. It felt weird, but I didn't mind at that moment. "It will be okay, Katherine. It will be fine," he cooed, stroking my hair gently. I cried until I had no more tears left, then pulled out of the hug and flashed him a sad smile. "Thanks for saving me." I meant it; no
