Alexander's POV
This human was really driving me insane. But nothing pissed me off more than her guts—the way she spoke to me without hesitation. It was probably because she didn’t know about my identity. Betas and Omegas in the wolf clans cowered at the mention of my name, but now, to think that this insignificant human had no respect for me was worse. She tried to act tough, but she’s nothing but a feeble human, and one snap from my claws would be enough to end her life. “Did you just threaten me?” I arched my brow as her words rang deeper inside my head, and then I tried my best to stifle a laugh. “You are nothing but a feeble human. What could you possibly do to me?” Stella’s expression remained rigid, and not a single waver crossed her face. I was pissed off, really bad, and a part of me wanted to feel bad about it. My fist balled against my thigh, holding hard. The plan was to frustrate her and turn this house into a living hell until she had no choice but to leave on her own. This was the choice I had to make because once my grandma found out about this weakling being my fated mate, she would waste no time alerting the elders, and then boom—I’d be walking down the aisle to bed this bimbo. Everyone thinks that having a fated mate is going to make me stronger and help the pack flourish even more. But how can any of this be possible when the Moon Goddess has decided to hook me up with a human? “Aren’t you going to leave?” Her stern tone drew my attention, and I snorted, turning toward the door. But then I halted, remembering why I was here in the first place. “Grandma wants you to prepare her breakfast. Anything of your choice, as long as it’s edible.” The moment I mentioned my grandma, I noticed how tense she became, worry creeping onto her face. “Damn it. Why didn’t you say so?” she groaned, flapping the bed covers as her feet hit the floor. I noticed how she snatched her blue silky robe from the side of her bed but not without me sneaking a peek at her dark lacy lingerie. Honestly, Stella was beautiful—I was aware of that—but there was something different about her this morning. I couldn’t tell if it was because her hair was locked up in a messy bun or if it was the fact that I could make out the lines of her sexy underwear beneath the lingerie. I swallowed hard, forcing my eyes away from her. Suddenly, the whole place was beginning to get unusually hot. “Mate!” my wolf clawed inside my head. My teeth gritted as I forced a smile at Stella, who was watching me with a weird expression. “Rex, can you calm your tails down? This is not the first time we’re seeing a hot, half-naked lady,” I shunned my wolf through our mind link. That was when it hit me—I just called her hot. Damn, I’m cooked. “Are you okay?you look tensed.” Stella asked. From the way her almond eyes hovered over my body, I could feel the concern in her expression. “Mind your business. Your priority is to take care of my grandmother, so let it stay that way,” I said firmly, so loudly that I couldn’t tell if I was trying to convince myself otherwise. Either way, I didn’t want to think too much or be around her because the more her scent trailed through my nostrils, the more Rex became restless. I turned swiftly on my heels, making sure to slam the door behind me. As my steps retreated farther down the hall, I could hear her faint voice. “He’s such a big jerk. I hate him so much,” Stella whimpered. I rolled my eyes, clicking my door open, but there was a lingering sense of sadness building in my chest. I forced it down. “Why are you trying to suppress your emotions? The Moon Goddess gave us a mate. What’s so wrong with that?” Rex howled inside my ears, but I ignored him, closing my eyes as I crashed onto the bed. “So what if she’s my mate? It’s not a crime to reject her. Besides, I’m doing this for her own good. If word gets out that my mate is some fragile bimbo who’s way over her head, tell me, Rex—what do you think is going to happen?” The air went silent as I stared into space. The silence dragged on before Rex’s tone reignited. “So you mean you’re doing this because you care about her. Is that it?” Rex asked. My hands tightened around the pillow that was buried over my face. Did I really care about her? That’s not possible. I don’t have what it takes to care for someone who isn’t the pack or me. Women were just momentary pleasures. I never saw the need for something serious like love, affection, or commitment. I just never saw the need because I, more than anyone, know what it means when people fall out of love. “When are you going to get over that? Alexander, it’s been years,” Rex said calmly, his words soothing me. “I’m fine, Rex. There’s no need for you to worry. Healing is easier said than done. At least it’s better to keep them at bay. That way, I won’t hurt anyone,” I replied with a deep sigh. The anger coursing from Rex tugged at my chest. Why was Rex so angry? “So what about that pretty girl you bring every time you come over?” Rex asked. My brows knotted in wonder. Who was he actually talking about? That was when Lisa’s face appeared in my mind. “Oh, wait. You mean Lisa, my girlfriend?” I asked, trying to smile. “Girlfriend? What about Stella, our mate? I need her,” Rex remarked in a tone that was almost pleading. My eyes darkened. “I already explained this to you. Stella and I are not compatible. She’s a human, and I’m a supernatural. Our paths don’t work.”Stella's POV"What's going on in your mind, dear?" Grandma's words were accompanied by her soft touch, making me snap back to reality. My lips curled up into a smile so she wouldn’t get too worried about me."I'm fine, Grandma." My eyes darted over to the table, catching a glimpse of the food right in front of us.At her request, I had made sure to prepare a whole buffet, and from the look of things, she was enjoying herself."Grandma, I hope you like the food," I asked, tilting my head so I could carefully watch her expression.Grandma pursed her lips, and the smile on her face widened as it reached her ears."Of course." She gave a subtle nod and then scooped my hand into hers. "This is delicious."With that, she turned back to her plate, the chattering sound of the knife and fork scraping against the plate momentarily breaking the silence. My face was fixed on my food, trying to enjoy it, but I had no appetite that morning. I couldn't tell if it was because of that jerk Alexander o
Stella's POV.I woke up gasping for air, my heart beating so fast that it felt like it was about to leap out of my chest. I was sweating profusely, my body drenched in a layer of sweat that made my sheets cling to me like a second skin. What just happened? Was that real? Or was it just another dream? I looked around my room, taking in the familiar surroundings of my new home. Everything seemed normal, except for the throbbing sensation between my legs.I sat up in bed, still trying to catch my breath and clear my head. The dream felt so real, so intense, making it so hard to shake off the feeling that it was more than just a figment of my imagination. In the dream, I was in the arms of a man I had never met before, but I felt so safe with him like I had known him my whole life. We were in a room, with dimmed lights and candles flickering in the background. His lips was on mine and he was kissing me passionately, his lips moving in perfect sync with mine as if we had been practicing f
Alexander's POV.“Oh please, grandmother. I am perfectly alright with my life now. I don't need the meddling and there is no way she is out there, it's been years” It's becoming more annoying now that my only family, my grandmother would not stop talking to me about finding my fucking mate. “It's your twenty-ninth birthday and another year without your mate. How can you strengthen your alpha blood if you don't have a mate bond? I know you are unbothered, but I would like to carry your pup” She said, placing her glasses on the rim of her nose. “I have a girl for that. When I am ready, you will carry your grand kids” I said and got up, I was not ready for her tantrums. “I have some meetings to get to,” I made my way toward the door. “Rick will stay with you today, I know you feel safe around him”She looked away, not before throwing me a nasty glare."There you go again Mrs Calum"“But that gesture of yours does not mean I won't keep talking about your mate until you have found her
Stella’s POVNever have I felt so unwanted in my life by an imaginary lover, the disgust on his face was too much for me to handle. As much as I hoped that he was the same person as my dreams, it was better to leave with the questions on the tip of my mouth than be humiliated further. Celine was not sure if she should let me be by myself, but it will only make me as weak as the stranger had said. After promising to discuss it after work, she left to serve in her assigned VIP booth and I went to mine. I moved over to the bar to pick up the order I had placed earlier and proceeded to pick up the tray.“Good evening gentlemen, I'm here with your drinks,” I said with a big grin putting all my worries behind me. “You have your martini, chocolate-flavored vodka, and dry vermouth with a lot of ice” I looked up and I saw that they were staring at me with so much emphasis, that started to make me worry. Stella's POV.“Omg! Freya! Do you recognize that man?” Celine burst into my room just after we got home from work.“Oh no please Celine, I have to sleep. I'm meeting my employer for the second job at 5 pm. I just got the message on my phone. Please let me sleep” I murmured, throwing the blanket over my head.I still remembered how I had fainted last night, in front of that familiar stranger. I wanted to kick up my legs and scream out loud.It was so embarrassing. He rejected me since that was strange then I felt my heart almost jumping out of my chest.I hated that feeling! And I had no plan of ever reliving it or seeing that stranger. Then why do I feel tears surfacing? She pulled the blanket off my face and said “Oh wait, what do you mean your employer? You got the job without meeting them first? That is wonderful! No formal interview and you go the job”“Yes. Now please let me sleep” I covered my face again, satisfied that she got happily distracted. “No Freya, Listen. I have to t
STELLA'S POVI slammed the door behind me, my heart racing as I leaned against the wall. "What did I just watch?" I swallowed hard, the lump in my throat sinking into my stomach as I stared into space. "Stella, what's wrong with you?" I bit my lips inwardly. I had just watched Alexander having sex with his girlfriend, and for a moment, I had wished I was the one underneath him. A forbidden thought crept in, uninvited. My skin tingled at the imagined weight of his hands, his breath warm against my neck.I closed my eyes, and then a moan escaped my lips. My cheeks burned red and then I clenched my fist snapping myself into reality."Get yourself together, Stella," I warned inside my head. The next morning, sunlight flushed through the window, warming my face. I twirled in my bed with a moan. "When are you going to wake up, you lazy bone? Please don’t tell me all humans are this tiresome." Alexander's voice rang in my head, and my eyes snapped open. I scurried out of bed,
