'An offer?! From a demon prince?!'
Hazel looked on confusedly with her hands still clutching the dagger plunged into her by her beloved.
She held onto the dagger as if it was some life source.
"Don't be afraid," The demon prince said as he sauntered towards her.
"Where am I?" Hazel said as she took her eyes off of the red eyed phantom walking towards her and gazed around.
She was in a place that seemed empty yet filled; she was in perpetual darkness but she was still able to see the phantom before her as clear as day.
"You're nowhere," The demon prince said with a smile.
Hazel tried to let her wolf out but it seemed like there was an emptiness in her as her wolf didn't surface. For the first time in her life, she felt entirely naked and alone.
Raglan chuckled, "that is useless, your wolf is dead–died some minutes ago. Its just you now."
Hazel just stared mortified at him without saying a word.
"Take a walk with me," Raglan said in a tender tone as he held out his hand to Hazel.
Hazel was not about to jump into any trust relationship right now, not after being killed by the one she loved and so she ignored his offer of his hand.
However, she followed him when he started walking away.
"Where am I?" Hazel asked once more.
"You are nowhere, " Raglan repeated again. "You are neither with the dead nor alive. You are in the middle," he added.
A gasp escaped Hazel's lips as Raglan words sunk into her.
For the first time, her hands left the handle of the dagger and she slowly brought her hands up to her face as she observed her blood soaked hands.
"No," She mumbled out in a cry of disbelief.
"I cannot be dead. This cannot be happening!" She cried out as she protested.
Raglan was not the least bit moved by her tears. He just stood watching her.
Being the harbinger of death, he had experienced a lot of souls wailing in denial to their predicament.
"I have to go back!" Hazel addressed Raglan.
"I cannot be dead, I need to go back!" she protested.
Calmly and assuredly, Raglan answered her, "I know and that is why I have an offer for you."
Hazel gazed at him with confused, tear filled eyes laced with a glimmer of hope.
Looking into her eyes, Raglan said, "You can either decide if you want to die or return to the land of the living and exert revenge on your sister and her lover."
He said no more but looked at her intensely as he watched his words sink into her head.
He watched as his green eyes changed from being filled with sadness, to being filled with hope and to the result he desired–eyes filled with undiluted hate and vengeance.
"I want to go back," She said defiantly with rage firing up in her eyes. It was a sharp contrast to the wailing little scared girl she had been earlier on.
A little sinister smile crept up the face of the demon prince.
"Good," He said. "You will get your life back. "
"But at a cost," he added.
All through the moments they'd been together, Hazel had felt no fear being in his presence but all of a sudden, she felt chills go down her spine. Who the hell was this man and how was he going to give her back her life?
"What are you?" Hazel asked Raglan jn a scared voice.
"I am a demon prince. I am the prince of the underworld," He answered her.
He saw the fear in her eyes and so he assured her, "I won't hurt you. I am only here to help you."
"Why?" Hazel asked. She still was not sure about trusting this man.
"Because despite what people think, I am not actually evil, now, are you prepared to pay the cost for your life?" he replied.
Hazel knew that any price she had to pay for her life was not going to be an easy one but as the thought of Maeve's sinister smile and Asher's betrayal flashed through her eyes, she knew that whatever it would cost her to exert her revenge was going to be worthwhile.
"Yes," She answered.
"Good. I will give you back your life, and you can go and have your revenge but first, you would have to do something for me. You are going to kill the seven people," he said.
"They are the seven Alpha's of the house of midnight and I want every last one of them dead and only then will I give you back your life," He added.
"Why can't you do that yourself? You're literally Death," Hazel argued.
"I can't. I may rule over death but I cannot dish it out."
"Why do you even want them dead?" Hazel asked. She did not know why she had to be an assassin to seven people who she had nothing to do with.
"Because I want to do something for humanity. You see, these seven Alpha's have preyed on people for years now. They have committed too many atrocities and I am tired of having to receive innocent souls sent over to this realm because of these treacherous seven and it is about time I end their reign," Raglan said.
"But why me? Why not someone else? I am just a kid. How am I supposed to be able to kill seven powerful Alphas?"
In a nonchalant tone and a shrug of his shoulder, Raglan said, "it has to be you because I made a bet with myself that I would pick the next person who happens to drop by here."
He did not tell her that it was because she had messed with the balance of earth by being dead. She was not supposed to die and her death could lead to far more chaos so he had to send her back. He was just using the opportunity to get what he wanted.
"And as for how you are going to carry it out, I have that sorted out," He added.
Hazel was still shook by what was going on and so she just kept on staring at him in silence.
"You cannot go back to earth in this same body. You need to be undercover and that is why I am going to give you a new body. However, if you complete the task I have given you, you will cease to be a ghost and you will finally have your old life and body back."
"And if I fail?" She asked.
"You die," Raglan answered with a finality to his voice that almost broke Hazel's heart to pieces.
And when she thought that was the worst that could happen, he added, "and someone you love dies also."
Hazel's heart skipped. Asher was going to die if she failed? People would say she was crazy to feel something for the same man who loved her but she knew it was not his fault.
He had been bewitched by that evil of a sister.
She did not have any ill feelings towards him and her revenge mission was more to save him rather than kill him.
Asher was not her enemy. She knew who her enemy was and she had shared a womb with her.
She was also doing this for her parents. It could be either any of them that would be killed. There was no way she was ever going to let any of her family ever get hurt. Including Maeve. She alone would be the one to harm Maeve and she would make sure she gained as much pleasure as she could from it.
Raglan noticed how deeply affected she was by his words and he decided to utilize the moment.
Raglan then stretched forth his left hand and offered it to Hazel.
Hazel gazed into his outstretched palm where she saw a necklace laying on it.
The necklace was a simple gold chain which had on it a crystal pendant.
As she admired the necklace, Raglan said, "every time you kill any of the Alphas, this pendant will fill up with a drop of blood till all seven are dead. And if you fail, your blood and the one of your loved ones will be used to fill it up."
He spoke so calmly but his words sounded like a threat and she treated it as such.
"Take it," He commanded and Hazel reached out her hand and picked it up.
There was no going back now. She had sealed her fate and it was time for her new life to begin.
As promised, Raglan gave her a new body. No longer was Hazel the green-eyed, raven-haired beauty —she was now a blue-eyed beauty with fiery red hair to match her rage and what she sought after –blood."The first Alpha on the list happens to be an old friend of yours," Raglan said tauntingly."And who is that? " Hazel asked nonchalantly as she was still preoccupied with the recent turn of events. It wasn't every day, you died and met a demon prince."The Alpha of the Wyoming pack," Raglan said with a smile. It was as if a bulb lit up in Hazel's eyes. The moon goddess was definitely in her favor."Turns out I might as well enjoy this," Hazel said happily."I hope you will," Raglan said.Lastly, he handed her a sheath made out of the finest leather.Hazel reached into the sheath and pulled out a dagger."That dagger is pure silver made out of a wolf's bane and angel's breath," Raglan explained.Hazel observed the beautiful weapon. The blade was lined with inscriptions that were of a lang
"Your Grace," Hazel said to Alpha Kael with a slight bow as she stopped a few steps before him.She made sure her boobs were visible for his gaze as she bowed. Kael's breath hiked up as his eyes feasted greedily on Hazel's chest. She was a beautiful woman but he was not the least bit bothered with her beauty as he was with her nipples which seemed to want to poke a hole through the barely there top she was wearing. Hazel wasn't scared of the mighty Kael and he noticed. Women were always scared when they saw how powerful he was but this woman just glared confidently at him with her blue eyes and her full lips –lips he couldn't wait to suck on, pursed at him in a pout.Rather than feel fear for him, Hazel felt a huge bout of disgust and she had to fight back the urge to throw up."What's your name?" Kael asked. "I am Edith, your Grace," Hazel answered in a voice that simmered like honey.Kael nodded his head nonchalantly. He did not give a fuck if she was nameless, all he gave a fuc
"What have you don–" Kael started to say but stopped halfway as Hazel plunged the dagger deeper into his heart.Kael began to wrestle. His black eyes started to change color as his wolf fought to take control of him.He tossed and turned, kicked and struggled, trying to get Hazel off of him but she held her ground. With the aid of her free hand, she pushed the dagger deeper and deeper into his chest till it was only the butt of the dagger that was visible."Who are you–" Kael choked as blood trickled out of his mouth and nose.He had finally stopped struggling. He knew he had lost the battle.Still laying over Kael, Hazel looked into his eyes and answered, "I am vengeance."She got up from him and came down. Kael still had a substantial amount of life present in him. Such a powerful man would be too hard to kill.As she gazed over him, her eyes fell on his cock. It was– to her greatest surprise, still hard and erect. She could not believe that the bloody bastard dared to still have an
But by the time the guard had announced a search to be made for Hazel, she was already miles away.No one seemed to know who she was or where she came from. All they knew and would ever know was that she was a beautiful woman who had appeared and then disappeared leaving death in her wake.Hazel had traveled throughout the night only resting in the early hours of the morning when she was sure she was far away enough. As she slept, a visitor came to her in her dreams."You did well," Raglan said to her with a smile on his face.He had had his doubts about her and her capability to carry out this mission but her act earlier on made him have a little more faith in her."How are you here?" Hazel asked, confused, totally ignoring Raglan's compliment. She wondered why she was able to see Raglan so real in her dream. It felt like if she reached out to touch him, he would feel concrete."I am in your dreams." He pointed out with a roll of his eyes.He noticed the look of confusion on Hazel's
Hazel was still shaken by the dream she had had. She was still very much tired but she willed her body to move. She was onward to the residence of the next Alpha–Gordon. She did not know who he was nor where he resided but Raglan had helped out. When she woke up, she noticed a note written in beautiful handwriting next to her.It had the name of the next Alpha on the list and also directions to get to his palace, which was drawn in a crudely drawn map."The bloody bastard," Hazel had cussed when she saw the note. Not only had he tormented her sleep, but he had not left her any food, not water as she had requested of him.She was famished and so thirsty and was on the verge of fainting under the blazing sun when she found a small pond. She filled her belly up with water before pouring some on her body to help cool her down. For food, she picked wild berries from the forest. She was lucky her dad had trained them on the vegetation of the wild so she had knowledge of what she could or co
Try as she may, Hazel could not push out of her mind the story she heard earlier.Asher was getting married to Maeve? It could not be. She was the one he loved and not Maeve! No longer was her mind occupied with the thought of how she was going to carry out the task before her but with the thought of Maeve and Asher getting married. She had to go back home, she thought. She had to go and save Asher from the danger he was landing himself in by being with Maeve. Her mind kept telling her to turn back to where she came from and head back to her home but she knew that the only way she could do that was if she kept moving forward and completing her task and she did just that.Surprisingly to her, getting into the palace was much easier than she had anticipated. The guards at the gate let her in without asking question
Hazel was happy that the celebration was still going to be held tomorrow. It afforded her time to do what she had gone there to do. Her ears were still pinned to the door when she heard footsteps approaching from within the room.Caught unawares and not knowing where to run to or hide without being caught, she instinctively jumped to the back of the door.It was a careless hiding spot that would guarantee her getting caught but it was all she could come up with. She could not risk running away because the hallway was too long and the next exit was at the end so she would definitely have been caught and her only other option was a window which was a couple of meters high up. The approaching footsteps reached the door and opened it.Since the door was flung open, Hazel was out of sight as she was on the other side of the opened door.It was at that moment that it occurred to Hazel that the door could be closed shut and she would be caught. She had not had enough time to even think of
One thing Hazel knew was that she needed allies. There was no way she was going to take out her plan alone. And there was only one way she knew she could gain allies –money. This complicated her situation the more. It was more like this mission was out to challenge her rather than her just killing these Alphas. Every time she crossed over a stumbling block, another came rolling her way. With her head slumped backward and her eyes closed, she thought of ways she could get money. She placed the back of her hand against her head. Despite the cool breeze blowing, her temperature was high. Her head was probably overheating due the amount of thoughts that went through her mind per second. She had nothing she could sell. She could not even beg for money. That would draw too much attention to her and it would be easier to remember the redhead beauty who had begged for money.Damn it!She had only one option –to steal, but as easy as it seemed, it was not.She had never been one to steal any
"No!" Hazel's screams resonated through the walls of the midwives' workshop. Against their will, the midwives had lain Hazel on the worktable and had tied her limbs down to the table. One of the midwives took a cloth and started to stuff it into Hazel's mouth to muffle her screams. "Leave her mouth free. I want to listen to her screams," Raglan's cold voice echoed in the room, stopping the midwife. "Please Raglan! You can take my life but let this child live! He is innocent! Please!" Hazel pleaded with Raglan. "I should let the bastard child live?" Raglan chuckled. "I am putting an end to the lives of all the bastards in that family. Including the whore that dared bear him a child," Raglan said with such contempt his face contorted with disgust. Tears spilled down Hazel's face. She couldn't breathe. She knew this was likely going to be her end, but she had hoped she could escape. But she refused to give up on her son. Hazel continued to beg, offering her life in exchange for
Days had passed and Hazel was getting better and better in her skills as a princess of death but it wasn't as fast as she would have wanted it.Her baby would soon be out and she knew that the moment that happened, it was going to be the end of her.She worked harder in the small room she had created for herself, hoping to be able to restore her life to earth before the baby came. But all of these were difficult for her, especially since she had to avoid Raglan's mother by all means.Hazel had tried her possible best to steer clear of her. She knew that she hated her and she made sure she never had anything to do with her.But Raglan's mother made it her duty to be in Hazel's business. She found excuses to be around Hazel and to be part of her life and though Hazel tried her best to avoid her, it was not possible. As she finished her training with her instructor that day, Hazel slowly made her way to her room to rest but as she took the final bend, Raglan's mother immediately appeared
"What?!" Hazel squeaked, her face confused as to what she had just heard.Raglan held her by the shoulders his face lit up with a joy that she never believed could exist in the realm of darkness. He shook her as if to wake her from something."Hazel! We are in love! We now have a child on the way! All that's left is for us to get married!" Raglan said trying to connect some imaginary dots.Hazel knew she could not do this. She had endured the past weeks pretending to like him. Getting married to Raglan was going to the extreme and she was not sure she could survive it.With the same speed with which his face had lit up, the joy on his face dimmed out and a sadness replaced the light."You don't want me?" Raglan asked his voice pricking Hazel with the amount of pain that was in it.Hazel sighed. She knew this was not going to be easy. For her to secure what was hers, it was required of her to make certain sacrifices and this was one of them. With a weak smile that did not even touch he
Over the next few days, Hazel and Raglan's relationship blossomed.Raglan was so happy and he made sure everyone knew about him and Hazel –including his mother.Hazel was still trying to wrap her mind around how she became a girlfriend to the prince of death. The person who had taken away the joy from her life.Hazel had not factored a relationship between her and Raglan into her plans. She had envisioned a totally different trajectory for her plan and she was not happy with the way things were going.Raglan made sure she spent half of her day with him. He tried to make her move to his room but Hazel refused.Staying with Raglan meant she would have to have sex with him and that was something she dreaded happening. She however had been forced to be intimate with him. They cuddled in bed together before bedtime, and they kissed quite a lot –although she tried to find ways to avoid kissing him there was only so much she could refuse for her plan to really work. She did everything intend
Hazel spent the next twenty minutes thinking and rethinking her plan. 'What if it fails?' she asked herself. She knew that was a useless question to ask herself. She knew exactly what would happen if her plan failed. But there was no way she was going to back down. She placed her hands on her belly, rubbing it. She had to take the risk for the child's sake and his father's. With that in mind, Hazel got up and marched to the bed where Raglan lay lost to the world. He looked much more beautiful in sleep and he looked much less like the evil bastard that he was. Hazel looked at the left side of his chest. She knew he had no heart but she wished he had one so that she would have the satisfaction of impaling his heart just as how he had made her do so to all those Alpha's just for his selfish reason. Raglan was lucky she did not know how to send him to hell, she would have done it there and then. Rather, she got on the bed and started to try and take off his black tunic. It was no
She stood before the master of ceremony her entire body weak with fear. The master of ceremony turned back to face the crowd and then he rose both of his hands up into the air and then announced in a low voice, "It is time."As if on cue, the whole room erupted in a terrifying chant. The master of ceremony hurriedly walked away leaving Hazel standing in the middle tears running down her face as she witnessed the ritual happening around her.She could not move as she knew doing so will be fruitless. There was no possible way she was ever going to be able to make it out of the place without being caught moreover she was stuck there in fear. The blood that had been running past her legs started to flow faster. The chants from the demons grew frantic and the symbols on her body started to grow brighter and brighter making her body look like it had been set on fire.Hazel could feel a terrible presence in the room one which was more terrible than all the demons put together. This was follo
"When you said the entire realm would be present did you mean it?" Hazel asked Raglan as soon as Persia landed in front of the four walls.Raglan turned and looked at her dropping the reins. He could see fear spread all over her face."No, I didn't mean it literally," Raglan said to her. "Those who will be in attendance at the banquet are only royalty and those who matter. The rest will be celebrating it at other places."Hazel nodded, her anxiety was a tad bit relieved by his explanation."Shall we?" Raglan asked and he held out his free hand.Hazel nodded then took her hands off the chariot where she had been holding tightly for her dear life. Her legs were still wobbly from her experience but she willed herself to stand steady. The ride had been a bumpy one and many times, Hazel's stomach threatened to hurl out the contents of her stomach but she fought to keep it down. She clasped her hands once more in front of her and Raglan took ahold of her elbow guiding her down the chariot.
"You look so beautiful," Raglan said looking at her with eyes that were full of admiration."Thank you," Hazel said with a warm smile."So do you," She added and her comments were more than just mere flattery. Raglan looked really handsome even though he was dressed in intimidating attire. He had swapped his usual cloak for a tunic, black as night. Underneath the tunic, he wore what looked like chain mail armor, and in his left hand was a scepter that was shaped like a scythe, one very similar to the grim reaper's.There was something in Raglan's eyes as she looked at him. It was a look she had seen before but not on Raglan and it was weird that he had that look in his eyes as he looked at her.Her heart made a little flutter and she had to caution herself to keep her cheeks from reddening. She had to stay focused. The life of her child depended on it.Raglan also tried his best not to look into her eyes. That was very strange as he had never for once been timid before her or anyone
Hazel had lost track of time as she lay on the bed while her body was tattooed with a bunch of symbols she could not decipher. She had spent the time drifting in and out of sleep and when she woke up the last time, she was shocked to see that they had only even covered the front her neck to chest area, and her arms.It was now she understood the maid's issue about time. She wondered why just drawing figures will take so much time. She decided to glance down at what they were doing so she tilted her head down. When she did, she felt a sense of foreboding come over her.Something in her grew cold as a strong feeling of fear seized herAlthough she could not decipher the symbols drawn on her body, she knew that they were something extremely evil."What are these?" Hazel asked her voice more of a whisper."These are the truths of ancient times," The maid said, her voice very quiet as if in reverence to the symbols.Hazel did not know what she said but she did not ask further. She moved a
