Pulling Back

"You know, I think I'm getting used to this your quarantine free days," Brenda said, breaking our silence.

We were at a porch, across the pack house and enjoying the sunset. This time, I wasn't trying to escape, I was just enjoying the company beside me and how much she understood me.

"I know, I'm the best," I chuckled and eventually we both stumbled into an impromptu laughter.

"Tell me though," Brenda whispered as soon as the laughs died down. "You and your mates, how're things coming along with them? From my angle, it doesn't seem like the three of you acknowledge one another."

I took a pause, contemplating on how to respond to her in a way that she might understand.

"Well, I won't say I haven't acknowledged that we're mates. I just haven't accepted it yet and we're all willing to wait. You know, no rush," I shrugged, hoping she understood where I was coming from.

I partly lied, the only and main reason I hadn't accepted them was because I was afraid of being hurt
