Libby POV I was alone, I was an orphan. Not only had my Mother died but now my Father…the culprit, the one that killed him standing before me acting as if he did nothing wrong. “I don’t know who you think you are but you aren’t God.” Her certainly acts as if he is. “No, but I am the King so you fucking better like it if you wish to remain here with my family.” His frame was trying to intimidate me, trying to make me submit but I managed to sneak a tablet in…my human side overpowers my wolf side once more. I can argue with him and not submit, I can be the one to tell him some truths. “I’m not staying anywhere near you.” I sarcastically laugh out. “Oh really? You think you can return back to the farm?” “No, I’m going to Pierce’s pack…I’m going to live with him. He may have kept the truth from me but in some kind of warped weirdness, I understand why he did it. He was trying to protect me from the heartache, whereas you were only trying to protect yourself.” I can’t loo
Three days later Libby POV Pack life was similar to farm life. You got up early, you tended to your lands and you kept an eye on one another. The only difference is I didn’t need to feed chickens at 5am and keep Anwir’s wandering hands away. If I wasn’t with Pierce, I did keep to myself more than I should. I was very much aware that this pack was expecting things of me, things that I wouldn’t be able to give them. Even at training, the spectator numbers were dwindling by the day as they realise the sister of the Alpha king perhaps wasn’t as well trained as they expected. The day after we arrived, I think all but a few arrived to watch me train. I didn’t quite expect such an audience, and then for that audience to dramatically reduce the following day. I imagine short changed is how they felt. Pierce remained patient with me, showing me ways to defend myself in human form. But let’s be honest, it would only be any good if I was up against humans…not werewolves.
Pierce POV As soon as we walk back into the Alpha house, my beta Dane was waiting to give me the usual morning report. You wouldn’t think he and I had just been training, he was already showered and changed for the day ahead. “Two seconds Dane, let us get changed and we will be back down.” “Actually Alpha, I wanted a word…in private.” His eyes give me that look before they dart to Libby, giving her a “nothing to worry about” reassuring smile. “Libby, I’ll be up shortly.” I turn to Libby, placing a kiss on her cheek. Her face cutely blushes as it usually does when I give her public displays of my affection towards her. I’ve been conscious not to be too forward, even though it is killing me not to hold her tightly to me and devour her. “Okay.” She looks between my beta and I, before making an escape up the stairs. As soon as I hear her bedroom door close, I lead Dane and I into my office. “What’s up?” I casually walk to my desk picking up my watch and car keys for later. “It
Libby POVAnother day, another little white pill. It’s taking much longer to swallow them. The guilt I feel increasing day by day, what am I going to do when I run out. When the bag is empty.Another day…that’s a problem for another day.My farm project was going well, I had sowed seeds and was waiting for a delivery so that I could get to work in building the chicken coop. I had been out here from the early hours, and found it easy to spend most of my day here. Pierce walked over to check on me before he headed to training, and then again when heading back from training. It was easy for me to lose sense of time out here, I expected to pack up to join Pierce for breakfast when before I know it, it is now lunch time. “Luna?” My attention falls upon a young male, not much older than me, walking into my direction. I bite on my tongue, bite down on the urge to correct him, that my name is Libby not Luna. But that is how things are done around here, and taking away my so called status
Pierce POV Security has been stepped up, I’ve put more guards on the night patrol shifts as a precautionary measure. Reuben has even offered to spare some, but for now, it is unnecessary. Whoever they are, they haven’t touched my borders yet, just sitting in the shadows…watching. But there’s no doubt in my mind why they are here, who they are here for. “Alpha, on the North East side.” Dane points to the CCTV screens as parameter alarms detect movement in the darkness. We were in my office, where we had remained for the last few hours. I send a warning through the pack link to my warriors, preparing them to be on high alert. “Who is patrolling that part of the grounds tonight? I question Dane as he pulls the night shift rota up on the computer screen. A list of names beside a list of border check points. . “Archie is heading up the watch in that area tonight.” Dane responds, as he loads another camera’s live feed onto the computer screen. You couldn’t see much, just rustling
Libby POVAn ominous sensation overwhelms me from the moment I open my eyes, as if I had been watched in the night. It starts with pure dread before moving onto nausea, a slight jolt of panic radiates through me. All these combined emotions I wasn’t used to hitting me all at once, it takes me a moment to collect myself as I slowly sit up. I search Pierce’s room, rays of the morning sun dimly lighting the room. I expect him to be sitting in the chair, still watching me, instead his shirt from last night draped across it…so he had been here. I wasn’t going mad. I follow a deep rooted urge to get out of bed and find him. That feeling not leaving me whilst I throw on yesterday’s clothes again, something was telling me to get dressed and get downstairs. To find Pierce. Heading downstairs I find Dane waiting at the bottom step for me, his back to me as I reach him. “Morning Luna.” He doesn’t turn to face me, which is odd. Dane has always been pleased to see me, always has a smile to g
Libby POV My body is preparing to block her, the training Reuben and Pierce have given me falling into place. Like second nature. But Annabel stops, freezes in fact. Her body is immobile yet her eyes are wide in sheer terrified panic. For a single second I’m confused as to how so much anger can make a person stiffen on the spot. Then I see him, the predator prowling towards his victim, towards his prey. I’ve never seen this side of Pierce, never seen the true alpha trait that he embodies, that he seems to keep satiated when I’m in his presence. This version of him, which was pure predator, made my blood run cold. “You would dare strike your own Luna?” His voice is demonic as his green eyes bleed out into a dark forest green, almost black. Gone is that pearly white smile, instead fangs of a hunter are flashed at Annabel. Somehow he has immbolised her, prevented her from moving. His alpha aura completely controlling her…she was a puppet and he the puppeteer that controlled the
Pierce POV Addiction, by the time I get back to the alpha house, I can see that her reliance on the white pills was born more from her inability to accept who she really was. That she wasn’t a human, but a hybrid. Half human, half werewolf. How entire childhood has been a lie. Her wrongful dismissal of who she really was has driven her to this. Whether she knew it or not, her wolf would fight now, fight to push forward…years spent hidden away from the drugs her father first inflicted on her…to the point she couldn’t see a way forward without them. She was mine, my mate. All parts of her…skin form and wolf form. She had lied to me, kept the possession of her tablets hidden from me. A new order delivered only last night, at the cost of my pack members being attacked. When will her lies end. I find her, half under her bed in her room, frantically searching her rucksack before moving to the bathroom. Addiction.I watch on as she falls to the ground, her hand searching the ensuite
