Pierce POV Security has been stepped up, I’ve put more guards on the night patrol shifts as a precautionary measure. Reuben has even offered to spare some, but for now, it is unnecessary. Whoever they are, they haven’t touched my borders yet, just sitting in the shadows…watching. But there’s no doubt in my mind why they are here, who they are here for. “Alpha, on the North East side.” Dane points to the CCTV screens as parameter alarms detect movement in the darkness. We were in my office, where we had remained for the last few hours. I send a warning through the pack link to my warriors, preparing them to be on high alert. “Who is patrolling that part of the grounds tonight? I question Dane as he pulls the night shift rota up on the computer screen. A list of names beside a list of border check points. . “Archie is heading up the watch in that area tonight.” Dane responds, as he loads another camera’s live feed onto the computer screen. You couldn’t see much, just rustling
Libby POVAn ominous sensation overwhelms me from the moment I open my eyes, as if I had been watched in the night. It starts with pure dread before moving onto nausea, a slight jolt of panic radiates through me. All these combined emotions I wasn’t used to hitting me all at once, it takes me a moment to collect myself as I slowly sit up. I search Pierce’s room, rays of the morning sun dimly lighting the room. I expect him to be sitting in the chair, still watching me, instead his shirt from last night draped across it…so he had been here. I wasn’t going mad. I follow a deep rooted urge to get out of bed and find him. That feeling not leaving me whilst I throw on yesterday’s clothes again, something was telling me to get dressed and get downstairs. To find Pierce. Heading downstairs I find Dane waiting at the bottom step for me, his back to me as I reach him. “Morning Luna.” He doesn’t turn to face me, which is odd. Dane has always been pleased to see me, always has a smile to g
Libby POV My body is preparing to block her, the training Reuben and Pierce have given me falling into place. Like second nature. But Annabel stops, freezes in fact. Her body is immobile yet her eyes are wide in sheer terrified panic. For a single second I’m confused as to how so much anger can make a person stiffen on the spot. Then I see him, the predator prowling towards his victim, towards his prey. I’ve never seen this side of Pierce, never seen the true alpha trait that he embodies, that he seems to keep satiated when I’m in his presence. This version of him, which was pure predator, made my blood run cold. “You would dare strike your own Luna?” His voice is demonic as his green eyes bleed out into a dark forest green, almost black. Gone is that pearly white smile, instead fangs of a hunter are flashed at Annabel. Somehow he has immbolised her, prevented her from moving. His alpha aura completely controlling her…she was a puppet and he the puppeteer that controlled the
Pierce POV Addiction, by the time I get back to the alpha house, I can see that her reliance on the white pills was born more from her inability to accept who she really was. That she wasn’t a human, but a hybrid. Half human, half werewolf. How entire childhood has been a lie. Her wrongful dismissal of who she really was has driven her to this. Whether she knew it or not, her wolf would fight now, fight to push forward…years spent hidden away from the drugs her father first inflicted on her…to the point she couldn’t see a way forward without them. She was mine, my mate. All parts of her…skin form and wolf form. She had lied to me, kept the possession of her tablets hidden from me. A new order delivered only last night, at the cost of my pack members being attacked. When will her lies end. I find her, half under her bed in her room, frantically searching her rucksack before moving to the bathroom. Addiction.I watch on as she falls to the ground, her hand searching the ensuite
Pierce POV Her temperature keeps spiking, her body burning off the reminders of the drug within her system…years of the poison having coursed through her veins. Now fighting against her wolf, trying to take back control. When I think I have tackled her fever with a cold damp washcloth, it peaks again…the sweat pouring off her has soaked through to the bedsheets. Scrambled, incoherent words escape her lips before nightmares return to her, her hands clawing at the wet bed sheets as I repeatedly try to calm her whilst she remains unconscious, giving soothing words into her ear. I haven’t left her side for 36 hours, my own body was ravenous yet I didn’t dare leave her and I didn’t want any house staff seeing their luna like this. She will come out the other side, but she has had to suffer and at least I can make sure she does it in private. Yet not alone, never alone. Her heart rate starts to level out, her breathing calming as the last of the wolfsbane that has been fed to her d
Pierce POV It’s a phone call I didn’t want to make. But I knew I had to, as both the alpha of the Grey Howl pack and also as Libby’s mate. Reuben has been searching for Natascha for months, unbeknown to him she has been using his own sister as a method to get to him. I wait until Libby is asleep, her recovery still a long path but one I will walk alongside her throughout. She would never have been ready, so I made that decision for her…helped to carry her heavy load. Rightly or wrongly, I took control. Sitting down at my desk, the moon shines brightly in the sky behind me…the pack grounds blanketed in a peaceful darkness as my pack members sleep. I reach for the phone, knowing as soon as I dial his number, all hell will break out. He won’t let this go unchallenged, he won’t stop searching for her. Natascha’s men may have attacked my borders last night, but if I make this call…I am unleashing a hell upon her, a hell she will not survive. A hell she deserves for daring to manip
Pierce POV Three days have passed since I forced Libby to go cold turkey. She hasn’t left the house yet, and neither have I. Beta Dane visits us regularly, giving me daily reports on the pack. I had discharged Annabel from the pack’s cells, but crimes against my luna would not be forgotten or forgiven. She was on thin ice, one wrong move and I will end her. My wolf’s hearing was glued to Libby’s heart rate at all times, any change and I knew I needed to take her mind off the cravings. Give her food, give her fluids, take her mind off what she is craving, what her body is actually needing. As Dane reads out the night time report, her finger excessively taps on the arm chair, her breathing quickening…both Dane and me notice it, both our eyes watch her carefully. She stands up, wrapping the long cardigan tightly around her as she moves towards the kitchen. I go to follow her until she reprimands me from out of sight, saying she was making herself some bread and milk. I need to le
Pierce POVHe’s like something from an old thriller movie, sulking in the shadows preparing to attack his prey. If I didn’t know him I would instantly say he was a threat to my life...even now I’m not sure I can trust him. My wolf keen to not turn my back on him any time soon. His dark features are almost…unworldly. Like someone created in a different era, a different lifetime. Even as he tears off another piece of bread and dips it into milk…the way he holds himself is far too arrogant, far too confident…even for a werewolf. And that is saying something.“I don’t remember giving you permission to enter my home.” My wolf is forward with me, a bitter taste entering my mouth from his unnannoucned, unauthorized entry.“Or your pack for that matter, but here I am all the same.” He lazily responds as if he was doing me some kind of favour by being here. That it was out of his way to intrude in our house, intrude in our lives. Why was he here, did Reuben send him for some reason.“If Reu
Libby POVDispleasure caused through me, the sensation of hatred and betrayal. Forcing its way into my dreams. At first I think it is the remainders of a nightmare that I had already forgotten about, but as I slowly sit up in bed…Pierce no longer by my side, I realise the nausea causing sensation of hatred wasn’t coming from me.But from Pierce.I move out of bed, searching for him in the dimly lit house…it was early morning and it would appear I was alone in this grand Alpha house. I move to the fridge in the kitchen, needing a coldwater to suppress that urge in my gut to vomit.Alone in this house, I follow the lights of the hallway, my eyes looking outside the window by the front door for any signs of movement. Was I expecting to find Pierce outside… Wherever he is, these emotions of his that were ploughing into me had me worried.I move again, this time finding myself in the alpha office…moving to sit at his desk. It smelt of him, the entire room, the entire alpha house for
Pierce POV I feel as if my eyes have only just closed before they are forced back open again. “Alpha!” Dane, my Beta’s voice pushes through to my mind, waking me from my sleep. “Alpha!” His voice hits me again. “I’m awake, what is it?” “You need to come to the southern border, come alone.” “Can it not wait until morning.” “I’m afraid not Alpha.” I cut the link, my eyes blinking open a few times…checking the time on my phone 2am. Shit, I’ve been asleep what two, three hours at the most. Libby stirs next to me as I slowly move my arm from under her, a smirk forming on my lips as she turns into me…chasing me even in her sleep. “I won’t be long.” I whisper out, placing a kiss on her lips…moving her blonde hair off her neck line to reveal a recent and still sore looking mate mark. The bond between us was complete, I had marked her as mine…and I was completely hers. Our bond has never been so strong. What I didn’t expect was for the possessive pull to become even
Libby POVGone is any sign of teasing, replacing playfulness with eyes full of a lustful predatory desire. His eyes remain on mine as he nibbles on me, his body moving on top of mine as his lips leave atrail of kisses in their wake. The pearliest of white teeth leaving little marks as his nips at my skin. My breathing quickens, my entire body tingles under his touch, I can even feel the hairs on my skin extending out…wanting more of him, needing more of him.My hands dig into the back of him, pulling him closer towards me, needing to feel his body ontop of me…my legs move to wrap around him. Holding him in a tight grip around his waist. He wouldn’t, but I wasn’t giving him a chance to pull away. A smirk escapes him from my movement, only for him to unwrap my legs, earning a pout from me which is soon replaced with a euphoric moan as a hand moves to my waistband, his fingers touching me at my lower core.I feel my head roll backwards, my back arch off the mattress as his fingers g
Pierce POVIt was late, my eyes were beyond tired from scoping the surrounding areas tonight. Something seemed uneasy with my wolf, he was on edge and I couldn’t rest until I had check each border point for myself. It’s almost as if he is expecting an attack imminently. I walk into the bedroom expecting Libby to already be asleep…but to my surprise she is wide wake, in bed and on my laptop.“You have training in the morning..”“I know but I just wanted to check something. Did you see the way Reuben’s eyes changed when he became moody. Something isn’t right.”“Libby.” I sigh out as I remove my clothes and place them on the chair, of course I noticed. Something hasn’t been right with Reuben for some time. I actually found my Dad’s old journals, in which he writes of his concerns of Odin in a similar manner. Towards the end of Dad’s life they were all but enemies but there was a time they were close friends, that they had each other’s backs. I just need to find out what changed. I k
Hello there, I offer my most sincere apology for the break in writing this book. I had to take time away from it due to a number of reasons, one being that the parent book had been plagiarised by another app and I struggled to find my flow back with the series. It’s hard when the characters and storyline you create is copied and sold elsewhere. GN have been so supportive on this matter but mentally, I needed to step away. I will finish this book, we have around 30 chapters to go and then I can decide if there is enough interest in me carrying on with the next book. Which would be Elspeth’s story jumping forward to the next generation. Thank you to those that have reached out to me with their concern and wanting to check in on updates - it has put a smile back on my face. Yours Ebony x
Libby POV “What did you do?” “Excuse me?” “With Angel, he slept for the rest of the night…I feel like a new woman.” Evelyn swoons over her cup of coffee, her body relaxing into the breakfast table chair. “Erm…” What do I say…that Anwir visited last night. Then as soon as he arrived he had gone. Come to think of it I don’t even know how he got past the guards. My eyes land on Pierce, his eyes more scrutinising than usual. Did he know…he must have felt someone cross the border last night. If he didn’t feel it, which as the alpha he would have, then his guards would have informed him. Why was he remaining silent like me. But Angel was happily settled in his father’s arms, something I had never seen before. Maybe what Anwir had done…actually worked. “Do you know what, I don’t want to know…it was probably just a fluke.” She sighs out, bending down to peek at her sleeping boy wrapped up in Reuben’s arms. The back of her hand strokes the top of Angel’s head before moving up to
Libby POV “Wine?” I offer out to Evelyn as we both tiptoe down the stairs, trying not to wake the children up who were too excited to sleep. It took some time, some very well manipulative head stroking on my part…but they were asleep. “I best not, I’ll be up there only in an hour to resettle Angel.” Evelyn sighs out. “I can do that, you should relax.” I’m determined to take no for an answer as we walk into the kitchen and I pull a cold bottle of sauvignon blanc out of the fridge. She watches me in silence, as I fetch two wine glasses and continue to pour the wine out. As I hand her a glass, a small smirk enters onto the corner of her lips.“What?” I ask out, thinking perhaps I did something wrong with the way I poured out the wine.“You seem different…”“Different?”“Good different…you seem like a luna.”“I wouldn’t go that far, but I am starting to feel settled here. Starting to feel at home.” I don’t think I’ve said that out loud yet, and as I do, it’s how I feel. “I’m pleased
Pierce POV “How is she…really?” Reuben asks as he sits down in my office. I have just poured us both a glass of whiskey, as Libby helps Evelyn send the children off to bed. “She’s doing…great.” Even as I say it, I don’t know if I quite believe it. It can’t be that easy can it. Anwir visiting her in her sleep and she miraculously wakes up the next morning a more positive version of herself. “I don’t think you even bought that lie.” Reuben grunts out as he slowly sips on his glass. “No, I didn’t. Anwir arrived one night. He did something, something that seems to be working. I don’t know what it was or what he did, but since then she’s been more open towards her wolf.” I shrug out trying not to let it annoy me that what he did has helped her, when I couldn’t. “Then what’s the problem?” “I guess I’m just waiting for the penny to drop, for her to go back to how she was. This just seems too good to be true.” “Did you ask Anwir to come here?” Reuben asks, his forehead fu
Libby POV I’m bouncing on the balls of my feet, nerves mixing with excitement as I watch the array of vehicles driving towards us just up ahead. They glide towards the alpha house like a slithering black snack…all the same, all in perfect collaboration with one another. Pierce refused to tell me who was coming, but there’s only one person I know that would travel like this, only one family. The alpha king and the royal family. My eyes can’t look anywhere else, the black cars consuming my full attention. As soon as the cars pull up, a door opens even before the driver has had the chance to open it, and a little foot pops out. Warmth enters into my chest and spreads across my entire body. “Auntie Libby!” Rex comes running up to me and I can’t help it…my feet are already running to close the gap between us as I fling him up in the air, and spin him in my arms. As soon as I place him down, his sister Elspeth does exactly the same, and so do it. I can’t believe they are here, th
