The Princess's Loyal Guard

Moose was enjoying a game of capture the flag when suddenly, he felt the urge to find Kir.

Moose was used to strange things happening around the Bastet siblings, but never in his wildest dreams would he ever expect to be connected to the alpha in such a way that he immediately grew anxious upon being incapable of finding her right away.

Moose’s instincts led him towards the forest that he had discovered Kir in earlier today. As he approached his destination, Moose immediately noticed the copper smell of blood and a bright light. As the light faded, Moose was horrified to find Kir’s throat with dried blood across it as she stood staring at the man that called himself Asher.

Moose’s first reaction was to run over to Kir, who was no longer sporting her blonde wig, but rather her natural midnight blue wavy locks. Moose quickly examined her throat and looked up at Kir, relieved that she seemed to be alright. That was until he looked into her eyes and saw that they were no longer her icy blue, but a much darker shade of blue, comparable only to that of a sapphire.

Suddenly, the boy named Asher spoke. "I'm so sorry Kir, please forgive me." The boy said almost inaudibly.

Moose looked between Kir and Asher, trying to figure out what might’ve happened before he arrived and what may have happened if he hadn’t felt the need to show up.

Kir looked at Moose silently before saying, "Asher, we will never speak of what happened here and it will never happen again."

Kir paused, "Moose, I need you to take me home, immediately, please. If the others ask, I was called away on royal business. Do we all understand?" Kir paused for a moment before heading towards the parking lot for Moose’s car.

Mooses looked at Asher and quickly told him, “I don’t know what happened and I don’t care to know what happened, but you had better thank your goddess that it was me that showed up and not one of the others or else you would’ve been dead before you could blink.” Moose stated to the boy before running to catch up with Kir.

"Kir, I really think we need to talk about what happened back there. I mean Asher is ou-" Kir put a wall up, interrupting Kirala's words.

Kir knew that she should talk to Asher about what happened back there, but Kir didn’t think she had even fully processed the meaning of it all yet.

‘I can't talk to Kirala about it right now either because she already made up her mind about what she wants to do. I certainly can't tell Roo, he would kill Asher on the spot without a second thought. I could tell Kaoru, but then he would tell Kilo and Kilo would tell Roo anyway, since he doesn't like Asher either…’ Kir thought to herself.

Kir looked over at Moose who’d been silent since we left the academy grounds. “Moose, if I tell you what happened back there, will you promise not to tell another living soul?” The reptilian man stayed silent until we reached the gates of my house, the Bastet Manor.

"Honestly Kir, I'm not even sure if I want to know. However if you wish to tell me then I will keep quiet until you tell me otherwise. You are my alpha and to my alpha I swear to stay true and loyal until the end of times." The man quoted part of the oath he took on the day that he chose to become a member of Majestic Moon, Kir’s pack.

"I do think that you should wait to tell me until we are away from prying eyes though." Moose suggested as we pulled up to the entrance of the main house.

Kir and Moose entered the house and decided to go to the stables since it is the only private area on the compound other than my bedroom, which is off-limits for obvious reasons. ‘Can't have the maids spreading rumors that the princess brought a dragon to her private quarters in the middle of the day.’ Kir reminded myself.

"Alright, what happened? Why were you alone in the forest with that guy and why did you have blood on your throat?! What was that strange light and what happened to your wig?!"

Moose berated Kir with questions as soon as they were sure that there were no prying eyes or ears in the area.

"Calm down Moose, I promise I'll explain as much as possible." Kir assured him.

-Flashback to the events in the forest-

Asher came back looking distraught after his phone call ended. Kir opened her mouth to ask if Asher was alright, but before a sound could come out of her mouth, Asher quickly buried his fangs into her throat.

Everything went white for a moment before Kir regained her bearings and shoved the man off herself. The next word that came out of his mouth caused kir to begin shaking.

"Mate." Asher said as he looked at Kir, completely dumbfounded about the new discovery.

Kir snarled, “I don’t care what your goddess tells you, I am NOT your mate, I will never be your mate, mates do not attack each other the way you just attacked me.”

Asher stumbled on his words for a moment before he countered back, “I didn’t know until after I bit you. Goddess, what are we going to do now?”

Asher looked panicked as he asked his goddess for advice. Kir could no longer hold back her emotions as she was overwhelmed by anger and confusion.

"Why did this have to happen now?! Why couldn't it be someone else?! Now everything is so complicated!" Asher drowned in his thoughts as he saw a light coming from where Kir was standing moments ago.

Asher looked up and his jaw dropped to the floor, the blonde-haired princess that the world knows now had blue hair, her eyes that were usually a calming icy blue was now a deep sapphire shade and her beautiful tan skin was now pale as snow.

Asher stared at the woman in utter dismay, “Is this truly the heiress to the Kayanadian throne?” Asher asked himself as he heard footsteps approaching and the light surrounding Kir began to fade.

The man that introduced himself as Moose earlier ran over to Kir and Asher stifled a growl as he watched him inspect his newfound mate. Asher looked at Kir and the only words that he was able to form were, “I’m so sorry Kir, please forgive me.” Though the words came out much quieter than he meant them to. Asher paused, wondering if maybe she couldn’t hear him.

Just as Asher was about to repeat himself, Kir spoke. “Asher, we will never speak of what happened here and it will never happen again. Moose, I need you to take me home, immediately, please. If the others ask, I was called away on royal business. Do we all understand?” Kir asked, though her tone told Asher that there was no room for argument, she had made up her mind.

"Whoa..." Is all Moose was able to come up with for a response to the new information. As Moose slowly processed everything that Kir had told me, he felt complete and utter rage at the man who dared to bite the princess.

"I'll kill him!" Asher yelled as he turned to walk away. Kir grabbed his arm, stopping him from leaving.

“Please Moose, swear to me that you will let me handle this and that you will never tell another person.” Kir pleaded, causing him to sigh.

"Alpha, I swear to you that I will allow you to decide what action to take and that I will never speak of this." Moose responded before adding, “but in return, I wish for you to appoint me as your bodyguard, I will stand by your side and protect you. Whenever you need me, I will be here.”

Kir looked at Asher with a smile on her face before speaking, “Moose Dragolifia, from this day forward you will be by my side always, you will protect me when there is danger, and you will assist me in future battles, starting today you will not only by my bodyguard, but my most trusted advisor as well.” Kir said before speaking the ancient language of her ancestors for making a spiritual contract.

Moose looked over at Kir and asked her. “Sooooo ….. Are you going to reject him? Wait….” Moose paused, “do you maybe like him? Do you think he’s hot? Do you want him?”

Moose laughed and wiggled his eyebrows, however his laughter quickly died down upon seeing the blush on her face. ‘Oh dear, someone please save this poor girl’s soul…’
