The Mate and The Fiancé

As we approach Magdalia Academy for another day of school for the supernatural teenagers, we see Princess Kir walking onto campus with a new man sticking closely to her side.

The princess appears to be very upset by her companion's presence as she suddenly turns and begins yelling at him for some unknown reason.

From across the courtyard the Regaldi twins can be seen watching the young couple from afar, accompanied by a bristling Inuharu and an amused Moose.

The couple seem to have settled their argument as they continue walking towards the doors to the school, however their walk is once again interrupted, this time by a nervous looking Kir staring into the distance.

"Come on Kir, stop being so mad at me already. How was I supposed to tell you that I was going to be enrolled into your school when I didn't even know it myself until I was already on my way here?" Luca asked an extremely upset Kir for the umpteenth time.

"I don't care how, you should've just warned me ahead of time!" She yelled at me.

"Why are you so angry about this anyways, Kir?! It just means that we get to spend more time together before we get married." Luca sighed back to her.

"We aren't getting married Luca, I already told you that I don't want to marry you or anyone else." She responded.

"Kir, come on, you didn't have a problem with it yesterday when we kis-'' Luca's sentence was cut short when Kir slapped her hand across my mouth to silence him. Luca looked over at her to yell, but then he paused upon seeing a nervous expression on her face.

Luca attempted to look in the same direction, to see what could possibly be making Kir so nervous, but before he got a chance, Kir stepped in front of him as a flame-haired boy appeared in their path, snarling at them….

However the boy wasn’t snarling at Kir, he was snarling at Luca with a look in his eyes that said he would rip him to shreds, if it weren’t for Kir being in the way.

"Asher... calm down please." Kir said gently to the boy while taking a cautious step towards him. Upon seeing his future wife act so sweetly to another man, Luca began to feel a twinge of jealousy and grabbed onto Kir and pulled her into his arms.

"Kir, who's this?" Luca asked sweetly while embracing Kir.

"Get your hands off of my mate and then, maybe, we can do introductions." The boy said whilst continuing to snarl at Luca.

"Your mate?" Luca looked over to Kir.

"What's he talking about? Is he delusional Kir? Is this why you want to break off our engagement? So that you can be with this," Luca paused, "half-wit."

Luca finished with a smirk before Kir slapped him, HARD. “What?! I’m just being honest Kir, I thought that’s what you liked most about me?” Luca laughed at the end of his sentence when he saw the boy snarl at his words.

"Kir, who is this man-child?" The boy asked through gritted teeth.

" Well uh....he's um...he's..." Kir stumbled on her words so Luca intercepted, "As I said, I'm engaged to Miss Kir, making me her fiancé, and you...well, to put it simply, you're unneeded and unwanted." Luca stated, earning him another slap from Kir.

"Asher, we can talk later, I need to show Lu-....Lord Luca around the academy before classes begin." Kir told the boy before grabbing Luca’s arm and pulling him past the boy as he snarled quietly.

They walked quietly through the halls, without a single word exchanged between them, with the exception of Kir explaining what each room is for and where his classes were.

Apparently Kir and Luca had all of their classes together. It made sense though, since they’re both royals with extraordinary knowledge and skills. Finally the bell rang for their first class so Kir led the way.

Luca looked around and saw many students staring at them. Using his vampiric hearing to listen to some of their comments and smiling to himself as he heard many of them whisper the same thing. “Wow, are they a couple? They look really good together. They suit each other very well, I even heard the headmaster say that we had a new royal joining the academy, no wonder they’re together.”

"All the royals are gorgeous, but those two are, by far, the most beautiful people I've ever seen." Luca’s focus was lost when he accidentally bumped into someone.

Luca looked up and saw the boy from outside, glaring at him. He debated saying something to him, however Luca changed his mind and decided to ignore him, while entering the classroom.

‘Just my luck that my mate already has a fiancé, and a royal one too... ‘ Asher sighed, ‘honestly can this mission get any worse for me?’ Asher spent the entirety of his first class lost in his thoughts, wondering what he was going to do about Kir.

‘Wait....why am I even worried about her? It's not like I have any feelings for her and being mates doesn't mean that I have to be with her.’ Asher thought to himself.

“Don't lie to yourself Asher, we've been secretly waiting for our mate to appear for a long time now." Argon, my wolf, responded through their mind link.

“You know as well as I do that a mate will just complicate things for us, Argon. I mean come on, I know that wolves have mates for a reason but the goddess made a mistake this time, there's no way that Kir is our mate, she doesn't even seem to feel the bond.” Asher responded back.

"She's our mate whether or not you like it, Asher. Besides, she probably doesn't feel the bond yet since she's not seventeen until tomorrow. Or did you forget her birthday, despite it being in your precious file on her?" Argon huffed.

"Well crap, you're right...." Asher vaguely remembered seeing that her seventeenth birthday, the year that the mate bond presents itself, was actually tomorrow.

"Wait, if tomorrow is her seventeenth birthday, then she's also officially at the age that royals typically get married, as of tomorrow...."

Asher sighed to himself, causing the teacher to notice him. “Mr. Romanov, care to read the next paragraph for us since you’re so bored?” Professor Alec asked with a glare.

 "Uh....um....I uh...."

RING RING

Just as he was about to completely embarrass himself, Asher was saved by the bell. “Tomorrow, Professor Alec! Bye!” Asher said as he rushed out the door and through the halls to Combat Training, in hopes of seeing Kir.

Which he did, but his excitement diminished when he saw her walking into the gymnasium with that Lord Loser’s arm slung around her shoulders and their faces way too close for comfort. However, Asher smiled when he watched his mate remove the arm around her shoulder and scold him.

Mostly, Asher smiled because he knew she did it without even realizing that he was watching her.

Coach blew her whistle before announcing, "Alright class, we've got a new student today so we will continue where we left off yesterday, same pairs."

She paused for a moment, "I'll need one pair to help me demonstrate to Mr. Livondia what we are working on." She pointed to me suddenly, "Asher, you and Kir will be the ones helping me demonstrate, yesterday you both did a fine job of understanding each other's movements and even giving each other advice, so come over here." She beckoned Kir and Asher to her spot with Luca.

After everyone else is in their spots with their partners, they all begin sparring. Meanwhile, Kir and Asher were awaiting the coach’s instructions.

"Alright Kir, you're on offense, Asher, you know what that means for you." Coach informed us.

"Yes Coach!" Kir and Asher said in unison, causing Lord Lame to scowl at us.

"BEGIN!" Coach yelled before blowing her whistle. Asher looked at Kir, who had already taken up her offensive stance and began looking for an opening.

Asher began to feel slightly impatient and Kir seemed to notice, as she took the chance to land a blow to my left side, causing him to grunt slightly.

"Whoo! Nice one Kir!" Lord Liar shouted with a smile, obviously pleased with Asher’s pain. Kir moved in for another hit to his side but, this time, Asher caught her fist and twisted it behind her back. Kir used a swift kick to Asher’s shin to escape his grasp before distancing herself from him.

Asher smiled upon looking at Kir’s grin, telling him that she was actually enjoying this, despite all the previous tension between them.

Kir’s grin faded as she jumped into the air and landed behind Asher, throwing him off guard and giving her a perfect opening to land a sweeping leg kick, before pinning him to the floor.

Asher tried to escape, however his effort was feeble as she had him locked into position, unable to move without her consent. “You should really stop underestimating my skills, Asher. Or am I too boring for you to keep your eyes focused on me?” Kir asked in a teasing manner.

Asher looked up at Kir and suddenly, the entire room froze and time slowed as he became captivated with his mat’s beautiful sapphire eyes.

Asher completely forgot where they were and that they had a spectator as he moved his face closer to Kir’s, until they could feel each other’s breaths mingling in the small space between their lips.

Sadly, Asher’s moment with his mate ended as quickly as it began when he was thrown by a mysterious force and faced with an all too familiar position, though this time it was Luca who had his throat in a death grip, not Inuharu.

"Well, at least this time someone has a real reason to hate me enough to choke me," Asher laughed to himself.

"LUCA PUT HIM DOWN, RIGHT NOW!"

Asher heard someone yell from across the room, when he looked over to the person that yelled. Asher’s jaw fell to the floor upon realizing who came to his rescue this time……
