"Clara! Clara!" Kyle's voice screams from the distance, I hear him frantically running around outside my room finding something to break through the door.
"Clara can you get to the door!?" Emma shouts worry clear in her voice, but I couldn't help them open the door, I couldn't move.
In what feels like an eternity, the door gets kicked open by Kyle, immediately he's beside my frail beaten up body laying on the floor. I'd just got back from a meeting with the Alpha, according to some pack members I was disrespectful to them. The Alpha tried to beat some sense into me, I just lay there staring up at Kyle's worried face over me.
"It's all gonna be okay" he tells me but his voice soon starts to muffle, I began to hear a more dominant voice.
I woke up to the sun streaming through the windows, the curtains were open which caused the whole room to be bright. I glance down to see Gray still asleep on my chest, well that's a first he's normally awake before me. This gave me the opportunity to think about what he told me last night, I knew from the stories I heard before that his father was a horrible individual. But I would have never thought he would take his own daughters life, just because she was going to be next in line for the throne. I can't even imagine what was going through that little girls head, the man that's supposed to protect you from all the "monsters" is the one that actually hurt you. As I told Gray, she's in a better place now with her mother away from from that monster. It must have been so hard for Gray, losing both his sister and his mother in ten years at such a young age, it just shows what a strong person he is.It just angers me
A few more hours have passed since mine and Erik's first meeting, I did have a long list of things I've wanted to get done but as he wasn't here, I had no idea how to get around it myself. First off, I needed him to start the list of new officials to replace the current officials, since the meeting I was in, it was clear those men were not up to the standard. Erik was able to suggest a few names off the top of his head but told me he'd look more into that, I know the officials will be so annoyed but I really couldn't care less. Now secondly, I did some digging of my own and found the original photo of Gray's family, the one with Matilda in. I had Erik replace the current one in the hall and put the one with his sister up. I'll show that to Gray later, I hope he likes it. The last thing I wanted Erik to do was track down my first advisor Masons wife, when she ran passed the guards a few weeks after I got here that
After a long chat with my dad I was being led out the prison, I told him what the next steps were and he said he was more than happy to help. As I'm walking out the prison he's being taken to where mum is, they haven't saw each other in a long time so I know how happy that will make her. As soon as I walk out the door to the dungeon where the basement is, Gray was running down the stairs his face holding relief when he saw me. Erik says he'll see me tomorrow before walking upstairs, Gray wastes no time wrapping me in a tight hug holding me there but freezes."You have a scent of another man on you" he kind of growls out, his arms still wrapped around me."Don't worry that's my dad" I smile with a roll if the eyes, he pulls away seeming to calm down a little."I do want to chan
It's been almost a week since I met with my dad and a lot has changed, firstly I got my cast off my arm which was incredible! It felt weird for the first few days but now it feels like it's almost back to normal. It served as a constant reminder of Rupert and the attack but now it's gone, I feel like I can move passed it and get on with the more important things in my life. Erik and I have been working hard on the case against Gray's father, we just need to find more witnesses that will testify against him when it goes to trial, we have my dad but Erik told me we'd need a few more to really make people see what horrible man Preston was and mostly likely still is.Gray and I have hardly seen each other this past week as we've both been way to busy, he's wrapped up with building the case on Daisy and finding Rupert. Either I'm with Erik working into the night or he's with Josh doing the same, I knew I'd be busy when
It's the morning after all that chaos, we managed to arrive in the safe house just before nightfall. They first wanted us to drive in a car up there but, as they were doing the routine check of the vehicle before we went anywhere near it, they found an explosive. Gray didn't want to take any chances so we went in wolf form, it was great! It's the first time since becoming Queen I've been able to shift."I felt like a free wolf!" My wolf cheers in my head causes me to laugh a little. The safe house is actually bigger than I first thought it would be, when you picture a safe house you imagine a tiny house in the middle of a wood right? This is entirely different, it's a huge mansion right in the heart of a huge town, once again I never imagined it to be like this. Gray explained this is the safest safe house around, Rupert's gonna find out we're i
I spent a few more hours in the meeting room alone, I kept going over the information Erik found on Gray's mum over and over again. Each time I read it I would become more convinced she was still alive, I just hope Gray takes all the information well too. I won't tell him until Erik is hundred percent sure the person he's visiting is Gray's mother, part of me hopes it is but another part doesn't. Gray will feel so betrayed if he discovers his mother has been alive this whole time and she never came home, at least with my parents I knew they didn't want to look after me and Kyle anymore, it gave me room to accept it. But Gray has had to try and accept the death of his mother, only to find out she could potentially still be out there.I stare at the photo of the destroyed house in front of me, it was so similar to how Rupert's turned out. Maybe that's where Preston got the idea to burn Rupert's from. I still haven't
After dinner we were just sat in the bedroom in silence, there's not much you can do in when it's light while here. It's too dangerous to go outside in the day in case we're recognised, which means we're stuck in this house all day. I sat on the bed while Gray took off the "normal clothes". At dinner we have a rule that we don't mind-link anyone and phones are off, that way we have each other's undivided attention. I assumed he would be quiet and not want to talk due to his mother, he was actually the opposite and was so talkative and happy which was shocking, but it did make me happy to see him happy after the last few days."I can guess that your dinner is over as I'm not being blocked out, sorry I had to drop the bombshell to the King over the phone but mind-link wouldn't work out there, I've just left but she's joining me and wouldn't take no for an answer" Erik voice says through mind-link, I take a look at G
"Rupert?" Gray asks dumbfounded staring at his photo, I just nod my head placing the photo on the desk."We had the same reaction to the news, we've found out that Rupert was also one of your fathers men that helped him commit such heinous crimes" I start to explain while Erik begins to pull more papers out, we fell down a rabbit hole investigating this "now all this linked together and I mean it all, Matilda's death, your mother as we now know, faking her death and Rupert's house burning down, they're all connected" I say laying the photos on the table, honestly it was a lot, we must have used about a tree and a half making all these up."But you say there was a witness there, if Rupert was working with his dad he wouldn't spill his guts to officials, after his dad killed Rupert's mate he didn't have anything to do with Grayson's family at all"
The jury didn't take long to decide what was to happen to Preston, much to Gray's annoyance. We were now sat in the courtroom waiting for the jury to come back in, I was pretty confident that we'd won this but you never know. I look down into the court to see my family sat all together, even Cyrus was sat beside my dad, like one big happy family! My eyes wonder to Preston, he had such a horrible look on his face, I think it's finally now setting in that this whole act of being a devoted King isn't going to pass. The act he was playing is now up as Gray said, he's about to pay for all those people he hurt. The jury soon enter the courtroom going over to sit where they have been, Gray quickly takes my hand as the main jury person stands up."Have you came to an agreement?" The j
After the wholesome family moment, the court got called back in. Gray was now back from wherever he went and joined me on the balcony once more, he isn't going to believe the information I just found out, I'll have to tell him after this is all finished. It was now Preston's turn to go to the stand, the court was silent as we all watch him walk over to the stand. All you could hear where the chains around his feet rattling, I glance over at Gray who's eyes didn't leave his father. I reach over taking his hand in mine, it was my turn to comfort him. He places a kiss on my hand before resting our interlocked hands on his leg, as Preston took the stand he takes a look up at us."Now let's start with the questions shall we, did you hire Cyrus and Wes Jacobs?" Our guy asks placing his hands in his pockets, we all knew where this was going to go
After Cyrus spoke the court took a break, I think everyone needed some time to try and take in everything that was just said. I had no idea Preston threatened Cyrus and my dad, I thought Cyrus just did it because he's a terrible man that took pleasure from doing that kind of thing. I mean let's be honest he probably did enjoy it, but maybe he got too far in and there was no way out so he carried on.I was in the lobby of the court alone this time, well sort of alone as there were guards everywhere. Gray was with Josh doing I have no idea what, while Erik was talking with the prosecutor guy, aka our guy. I couldn't be seen talking with anyone from the court, in case people see and the public becomes aware of my hand in this case.I was just stood there when something catches my eye, sitting alone on one of the chairs was Cyrus. He sat with his ha
As we enter the courthouse I see all the guards.... well guarding, I probably haven't seen this amount of guards in one place ever! And I have seen a lot of them. Erik said the publics shock they felt at first has turned into anger, for Preston's safety most of the castle guards are here. I mean I know he's a horrible man that is about to pay for what he did, but he doesn't deserve an angry mob attacking him.Gray turns and gives me a look, he must have been invading my thoughts again and disagreed with what I thought. We soon reach the ginormous staircase, last time we were here I didn't have my wolf which made the journey up this staircase quite difficult. I'm hoping now my wolf is back in her annoying place."Annoying?! As you said without me you didn't manage to get up the stairs" she snaps in my mind, I didn't say I didn't manage to get up the stairs and I actually did get up the stairs f
It was the next morning, the day of Preston's trial. I thought going into this I would be more nervous, but I actually wasn't. We had Cyrus and my dad for starters, we have down some intense research on him and he even confessed! We knew for definite that he'd get some time for Matilda and we have so much evidence on all the other crimes, this is gonna be a clean sweep!I got dressed into my most sophisticated outfit but also, not too sophisticated. I knew this was my last day staying here with my parents, they were being moved into a different house after the trial. One because this is just a safe house and is not made for constant living and second, Cyrus came here yesterday so they wouldn't be safe away from him, even though I'm having guards watch his every move.I walk down the stairs that opened to the living room, my mother was tying my d
I was sitting on the sofa of my parents safe house, my mum had me change out of my wet clothes and into something warmer before I caught a cold. I explained everything that happened and they were kind of shocked, my mother held my hand as I explained the whole thing."You can stay here as long as you like" she smiles squeezing my hand as she spoke "you're the reason we get to live like this, finally away from that monster" she continues, I knew she was talking about Cyrus."He's also getting released after the trial, don't worry he's going to be closely watched and will never get anywhere near you" I say looking at both of them, my dad just smiles coming to sit beside me."It's okay Clara, all we want to is to have some sort of
I arrive home in no time, I head straight to the bedroom where I lock the door behind me. I needed to be left alone for a while to try and process what just happened, if that was even remotely possible to do. I begin to pace the room, I was trying to come up with an explanation but I found none! Why would Erik do something like that? The dude was literally just trying to tell me about his brother, who apparently worked with me at the beginning. This causes me to rack my brain to try and remember anybody who doesn't work for me anymore, I mean there's been a ton of guards who have worked with me for awhile, could one of those men be the one he was talking about? I just don't know! The door handle moving is what breaks me from my pacing thoughts, once the person realises the door is indeed locked, they begin to knock."My love, open the door" Gray
Erik and I sat in the room for a while, at first all we could hear was the commotion outside with Gray but now, it was weirdly quiet. At the time I think I still had a little of my wolfs Queen mode on, but now I've settled down a little I'm starting to regret allowing Gray to attack them. Yes I know they tried to hurt me and it's so lucky that Gray was there, but he could have just knocked them out and allow guards to come. That would have been the more appropriate way of handling the situation, especially, with the court case going on right now.The jury were still deliberating which I was more nervous about, I hope I said enough for them to see that Daisy would never wish to harm anyone. Erik told me he didn't know I had that side of me and if I'm honest, I had no idea I had that side of me either. I knew I had a tougher side to me due to me using it before, but I didn't know I could be that heartless when the o
After a little run around outside, I walk back into court extremely calm and collected. Gray and I shifted and ran through the surrounding woods, it felt so good to finally feel like me again and another great thing! After I shifted back into my human form my arms were completely healed, it really doesn't get better than that!As I take my seat once again I spot Josh and Daisy having a conversation, she looked beyond worried with Josh trying to calm her down. Due to my wolf, I didn't hear the last part of the trial, so I was clueless on how it actually went. The jury make their way back in which causes everyone to get back in their seats, well apart from me I was already in my seat. Gray takes his while also taking my hand, he was also super nervous about this all too, no one knew if they did enough to prove her innocence. One of the jury member
