SETH

I was a little taken aback by having Emily’s arms around me. I turned around so we were facing each other.

My gaze swept to her collarbone where I’d left a mark on her last night, unknowingly. She gave me a flirty look as she circled her arms around my neck, her dark eyes peered at me seductively.

She went up on her lip-toes and pulled my face down to hers, and that was all it took for me to lose control. It proved one thing, that she hadn’t kissed me last night just because we were drunk, it was more than that.

Emily might not have the slightest idea about my feelings for her, but at least she was as attracted to me as I was towards her. That was enough for now. Her lips moved insistently over mine, and she smelled just as I remembered.

Spring rain, vanilla, and roses.

I kissed her harder, sucking her tongue greedily forcing a loud moan from her mouth. I grabbed her ass, hauled her up, and placed her

EMILY I made a huge mistake. Not only had I been rude to Seth but I'd also called him a man-whore which was completely unacceptable. Seth wasn't mine. I mean at least not now. He hadn't given me any indication that I was his girlfriend so I had no right to say things to him that I had. Things from last night were irreversible. He'd looked hurt, and it killed me when I went to bed. The next day during lunchtime, I'd spotted him with his teammates. His dark brown hair was tousled, a few unruly locks swept on his forehead that were soft and smelled like cedar and woodsy with a twinge of refreshing peppermint. I knew that because I'd spent the night, running my fingers through his hair and smelling it. The next day, I'd sneaked into his bathroom to check the shampoo label and bought the exact bottle just so I could keep it and sniff it occasionally. Seth was just really really good-looking with his strong jawline, kissable lips, a goofy g

She wanted to know about my past, and I knew that she only meant to do that because she was genuinely curious to get to know me, but there was no way I was going to talk about the shit-storm that I left behind in Connecticut. That was a can of worms that I would never open.Moving to Bountyville to live with my mother was meant as a fresh start, and talking about that now just beat the purpose of what I’d initially started out to do.“You told me your dad lives in Connecticut. • The Jock's Secret Crush    Prologue

SETH I’ve been living a pretty fucked up life for as long as I can remember. After mom and dad divorced, all I have done is bounce between two homes, one where I was told I wasn’t needed, and the other where I wanted to be but couldn’t because hey, the judge don’t feel the same. And that was the start of when everything went from bad to worse. I could write sagas about the shit I have done, but that book would be like five hundred pages long and a story so sappy, it would make the strongest person cry. And I wasn’t here to open old chapters, or rewrite them, or talk about it. I wanted to forget, I needed a clean slate and coming over to stay with my mother was the best option. I had moved forward in my life. I’d come really close to destroying it, but the stubborn bone inside my body wouldn’t let me. Here I was in a small town of Bountyville with no one having a clue as to what kind of a person I’d been. I planned to

  • The Jock's Secret Crush    Chapter One

EMILY Life is tough. I don’t know about anyone else but it’s always been tough for me. Be it school, or making friends, I’ve always struggled with it. I’ve noticed how natural it comes to some other people like my brother, Cale. He’s an example of how to become an extrovert and a nerd. He would party hard, study the day before the exam, and... Viola! A fucking ‘A+’ I study all year and I get a C. Well, that probably goes to show how dumb I am. Kidding. I’d swallow the largest ice-berg in Antarctica before admitting that in front of my brother. I stand on the weighing machine and look down at it. I was pretty sure I’d lost a few pounds when I tried dieting last time. I reached for my leftover extra cheesy slice of margarita pizza and took a bite of it. I looked into the mirror and that’s when my confidence deflated. My family always told me not to worry, and that I looked great, that being chubby was the

SETH I shouldn’t have done that. I know. I shouldn’t have left without a word, but you could say that Emily-Mae made me nervous. I remember the first time I’d seen her a few weeks ago. I’d gotten shit-faced that night but I hadn’t forgotten her face. I had no memories of that party but she had stuck with me, and I’d continued to look for her. Sometimes spotting her in the hallways and before I could think of striking a conversation with her, she’d disappear. We didn’t even take any classes together so I didn’t know her name that time. And then one afternoon during lunch, I saw her sitting in the campus garden alone at lunch under a large tree, eating out of a brown bag, typing something in her Macbook, and I was sitting inside the building, looking at her through the glass walls. I was surrounded by the members of my ice-hockey team who were goofing and talking about some shit that I was barely interested to sit through. My a

SETH I was having a hard time believing that this was actually happening. She’d asked me to kiss her and then moaned asking for more. If Emily had shown any signs that she wanted me to stop, I would have. No matter how drunk I could get, I knew my limits and when a girl said no, I would stop, no questions asked. But she’d asked for it. One thing had led to another, and before I could comprehend what we were about to do, I was on top of Emily, kissing her as if my life depended on it.Kissing wasn’t even the word I’d use for it.I’d been feasting on her. Plain and simple.I’d turned into a starved man dying to take whatever I could get.I kissed, licked, and nibbled her sensitive skin in no particular order. I knew for sure I’d probably left some mark on her unintentionally. I’d been so caught up with trying to possess her, I’d lost my composure.I

He thought I wouldn’t do it.Consuming the alcohol had made my head feel lighter, and a daring spirit entered into my body. I felt like I could do anything, there was nothing in this world that was unattainable.I reached for the hem of my t-shirt, pulled it over my head, and tossed it onto the floor.Seth’s mouth hung open, and he didn’t take his gaze off me as he reached for the bottle and took a long swig. His emerald eyes were shining in the dim light of the sitting area, and if I wasn’t mistaken, I saw his nose flaring in what I assumed was desire but he quickly looked away.I know my breasts were practically spilling out of the cami crop top I was wearing, no bra. He didn’t have to look closely to notice my nipples sticking to the fabric. It was a

EMILY I stayed silent on the ride back home. Seth tried to ask me things but all he got was one letter answers and then I guess he just got tired. My weight was a sensitive subject that I liked to avoid, and Nova had all but hammered over my weaknesses.I wondered if Seth thought the same about me. Maybe he didn’t even look at me as a woman, just a girl that his mother worked for.I didn’t realize when he pulled the car towards the dirt road and parked it in a secluded spot. Cutting the engine, he turned to face me.“Why did you stop?” I asked.“You’ve been silent, and you’re acting strange. Did something happen at the party? You can talk to me.”I shook my head, refusing to look at him, staring ahead. Then I changed my mind. I wanted to talk to someone.“Seth, if I asked you a question, can you give me an honest answer? As a friend, I want you to speak the
