Chapter 2
" Altair how the hell are you a Lowell already. You only got here like a month ago. And why are you here AGAIN ruining my life!?" Rudina spat at Canagan. She had never wanted to hit someone more in her entire life. This arrogant ' Fresh Meat' would have been a legend going to the dance with her. But he had to rather impress this friends. Why did boys have to do that?!
" Hey it was tall, dark and stupid who threw me into that crap. I don't want anything to do with you either sweety! Where was your boyfriend when you needed a date to the dance anyway?"Canagan said as he struggled to get up.
" You made that very clear at school thanks. And it's just like you to know NOTHING about the rules. You can't take someone to the dance if they don't go to our school genius!" Rudina moved closer to make her point clearer. " Besides shut up Artair. I don't need my family knowing that I know you.
Her family and childhood friends stood nearby. They had all witnessed the worst case scenario for a Bonding Assent ever. Their faces filled with pity and horror as they went to Rudina. They all spoke at once not knowing what to do next.
" You all worry and chatter as though there is another choice. It has been decided and we must now move on." An Imperial spoke from behind the crowd. He looked like your average gym member but where he stepped the earth gave way. His voice a booming echo even at a quiet tone.
" This has never been done before Reinhardt." A female Imperial spoke next to him. "We can't just leave her with this lunatic." There was just as much power behind her kind and coaxing voice. Reinhardt took the women's hand in his and kissed it.
" I'm not saying that we do. We need to think of a better strategy then to stand around talking." Reinhardt replies softly. The women stares at Canagan and Rudina then nods with a smile walked away. They knew that in seconds their Queen had seen their hearts and had decided what to do next. Whatever it was it was NOT going to be good.

Later that night Canagan woke up with a start. He definitely wasn't in his room unless if his room suddenly had no roof. He got up off the ground, dusting his shirt off he looked around. There was a stream to the left that stretched to the right. The mist rolled over the hills and the wind was warm.As the dam wall came into view he saw someone slip. He ran towards the sound as a scream could be heard.
Rudina hung on trying not to look down. Then suddenly her her hands let go. She swung around wildly hoping to gain grip but it was no use. Closing her eyes she waited for the fall. Then she felt a hand had grabbed her arm. She wasn't surprised to see it was Canagan. He had a way of turning up lately.
He lifted her easily with one arm and put her down safely and gently. He looked so worried and scared that she couldn't help but cup his face. What was happening and why did it look like Canagan understood her confusion and fear! They looked at each other as though really looking for the first time. Not needing to speak to understand each other.
Rudina felt the magnetic pull of his body as the threads of fate weaved around them. She felt safe and protected in a way she never had before. She knew he would always catch her. Their heads came together as they looked into each others eyes. Her heart never beat this hard against her chest with Hunter. It must just be the adrenaline from the fall. And the reason she wanted to kiss him was because he had saved her. Just gratitude really.
A branch broke off of a nearby tree reminding them that they were out in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere. If they made it out here alive...their parents were going to kill them!
Canagan made sure that Rudina made it home safely. Later lying in bed she couldn't help thinking. Why was I there? How did Canagan find me. Why didn't Hunter find me? It had to be this stupid bond. If she had bonded with Hunter then he would have caught her... wouldn't he?
The Bonding Assent hadn't gone how either of them had wanted. Was it really essential to avoid her like this is all her fault? It had felt really nice for someone to have her back like that, a little too nice. Also what the HELL had happened on the dam wall?
The next day Rudina was glad it was a Saturday. She could just lay in and relax. She was exhausted when she had gotten home this morning. Sleep hadn't come till the sunrise chased the night away.
The blue numbers on her bedside clock turned 10 AM. She groaned as she melted out of bed. Her head felt thick and heavy and she needed coffee or juice
" THERE'S A HUNT! THERE'S A HUNT!" Rudina's Father shouted from downstairs. The Orange Juice was going to have to wait. The Hunters also known as The Mortal Pack discussed the threat and their plan and stood ready. They would wait for The Alphas to send signal to meet up with The Bardulf.
The Lyall stood firm behind their shields as The Bardulf stood ready with an oversized axe in each hand. It took alot of energy not transforming when the scent of battle was in the air. Their animal side tempting them with the battle to come. The human side tired of waiting and of fighting instincts.
Once command was given The Lyall would move in first taking Vanguard. The strongest and the bravest they would unleash their fury. Then The Bardulf would move in second with The Hunter and their Bonded Alpha at their side.
Through all the wars and battles it had never been needed to deploy The Imperials. The army in this structure had protected the weak and innocent for centuries.
Some groups stood deathly still while others couldn't stand still. There it was an enemy presence. Time seemed to wait with them as finally the war drums could be heard. Now as they got louder and faster. The troops stood on edge, teeth bared and weapons ready. This is a threat they had never faced before. The nerves made them even more ready...this...is...it!
Chapter 3Rudina stood ready with her family. The drums had just sent out the Lyall. When the next command was sent, they would have no time to spare. The Mortal Pack always remained at home till signal was given. It was one of the old laws that actually made sense. At home they were safe but on the battlefield all were fair game.Canagan Arrived with a sword and shield. He was new and uncontrollable. He couldn't have been a Werewolf for more than three weeks. Mastering a weapon to where you were battle ready took years. Now wasn't the time to give in to daydreams. It didn't matter what his story was...what was it to her?" Happy Birthday Rudina." Canagan said as he handed her a large square box. " I know we didn't start off right and I'm sorry. A gentleman should get a lady a gift on her birthday." He turned to walk away but turned back." I'm lucky to have been Bonded to you. I know I'm not the one you wanted but I will honour The Bond. She opened
Chapter 4Rudina sat near Canagan's hospital bed. He looked alot bigger then she remembered yet vunrable as he slept. He had apologised, given her a gift and honoured his bond by saving her life. He rested peacefully and healed well for a new Werewolf. She looked over to his shield and sword. It was propped up against the wall nearby his bed. There were deep gashes in the metal. The shield would need two humans to carry and was heavy and strong. Rudina traced the lines with her fingertips. This wasn't a weapon that caused the damage and the size of the creature's claws were huge. She couldn't trace it to anything by touching it. It meant it was too long ago or that there was little humanity in this being.A doctor came in to check on Canagan. This was a special hospital. The Imperials supported the local Animal Rescue Centre heavily. In return they employed Werewolf staff to handle these types of cases. People didn't look twice when a wounded wolf gets car
Rudina had been having nightmares every night since she had visited canagan in the hospital. Every night had been exactly the same thing over and over each night increasing in intensity and length and revealing more and more of a terrible future to come. They all started in complete darkness then one wolf call soon joined by many. After that a great battle begins. The wolves fight and tear at each other viciously. Friends and family turning against one another and then all of a sudden a roaring flame ripples through everywhere and Rudina wakes up.It's been several days since she's seen Hunter. Rudina remembered months ago when they couldn't go hours without each other. When it seemed like they would be together for eternity. How did things change so quickly and how did things go so wrong? There was something else going on with Hunter. He wasn't the man she thought he was and he had already turned on her. She really needed to focus
Chapter 6It had gone from bad to worse fast. The very next day it had begun. There had been shops attacked in town in total ten had been looted and ransacked. The shops owned by humans will untouched. This meant that the entire Wolf Pack from The Imperials to the Hemming were entirely without money, food or income."We have to do something." One of the Wolves said." Yesterday they even broke all the windows of Don's Hardware. Every day they do more damage and we sit!"" We have to watch our move Marius. That little bar fight we got into yesterday has started all this." His father said with his hand on Marius's shoulder. The attack had been a distraction and bait. They had been after their food all along. They couldn't hunt either. The packs that had left to seek wild food had been met by The Mori. The fox that protected the woods. They were stuck and had never been hit like this.Rudina sat with her human family and their Bonded Alph
Chapter 7"OK you have to concentrate on a good memory and it has to be connected to blood.""What do you mean it has to be connected to blood?" Canagan replied."I mean you have to think of a memory,a strong memory. It is to contain love and it has to be about someone that contains the same DNA is that clear enough for you?"Rudina held onto the bloodstone. She knew that if she was going to activate the stone it would cost her most of the energy but she had to. She had only just managed to calm Canagan. The next time that happened she might not be able to."That would have to be my mum. My dad used to be in the military and he got called out year after year. We didn't really worry about it we always thought he come back. Untill the one year he didn't and my mum was the strongest person I knew. That's when I really find out how strong she already was. She would tell me the moment that I had a mood or felt sad. "you're
" You can't really be serious Rudina!" Hunter bellowed." As serious as they come Hunter. I've had it with the way you are lately. You dropped me the moment things went wrong. We grew up together and I just can't understand how I got you so wrong." Rudina said as she looked him square in the eye. He might be intimidating and had pushed her around before but, now she didn't flinch." You are the one who excepted that little runt and ran off with him. I was the one who drove away the enemy yet you see me as one." Hunter said barely containing his rage." Don't call Canagan a runt he's brave and saved my life I..."" And I saved ALL our lives back there. I can't believe I almost took you as my mate." Hunter said as he moved his head almost against hers in an aggressive gesture." Same! I'm glad I saw the real you before it was too late Hunter."" Think you so clever huh? Bet you didn't expect this."Before Rudina could think
They had awoken the next morning early. The moon still shone in the sky. As they got closer to the mountains they saw a number of Villagers head out in one direction and followed them. They got into the mountains and found themselves near a mineshaft. Devon and Canagan got work in the mines while Sarina and the others went back to the village to find information. That evening Devon met them with an excited look on his face. They had made enough to eat well and sleep comfortably tonight and he had news."I've found a way in! Where I was working today leads right past Yama territory. I even walked out with the other workers. They sell bits they find there and the mountains pay very well.""Did you sell anything there Devon?" Sarina asked."Not yet but I do have some I could sell." Devon said as he reached into his pocket and opened his palm. In his hand were a few small
