Rudina had been having nightmares every night since she had visited canagan in the hospital. Every night had been exactly the same thing over and over each night increasing in intensity and length and revealing more and more of a terrible future to come.
They all started in complete darkness then one wolf call soon joined by many. After that a great battle begins. The wolves fight and tear at each other viciously. Friends and family turning against one another and then all of a sudden a roaring flame ripples through everywhere and Rudina wakes up. It's been several days since she's seen Hunter. Rudina remembered months ago when they couldn't go hours without each other. When it seemed like they would be together for eternity. How did things change so quickly and how did things go so wrong? There was something else going on with Hunter. He wasn't the man she thought he was and he had already turned on her.She really needed to focus on Canagan now.The person who had actually been there for her, had actually had her back.
There must be a reason he was there the night of her Bond. And now that she was getting to know him. It seemed Hunter was the real 'runt' here. Just like that he had moved on without a backwards glance.
Well...so be it! If Hunter wanted to forget they ever existed then she would too. Right now she was on her way to visit Canagan. He had just been through a terrible night. He had pretended to have slept well but being bonded meant she had lay awake sensing his anguish.
His human and Werewolf blood had battled each other to heal him. He had turned human then wolf almost five times while wounded. This was one of the main reasons Werewolves weren't just created.
She would find the cruel coward who had turned Canagan and make him or her pay. It was a curse that made you lose your mind if you didn't have help and guidance.
When he was later discharged from hospital, Rudina was there to bring him home. She decided then and there that they would be a Bonded couple to be reckoned with.
The next day Rudina took Canagan to see The Elders. They would teach him what he was and why things happened as they do.
Then she took him to The Healers who have worked hard to stop the intense pain of transformation. They would also teach him ways to strengthen the body to handle the strain. Next they went to an open field to learn to use nature to transform quicker.
" You have to turn within seconds Artair. I know you can't yet so I'm going to help you." Rudina explained.
" I appreciate it but what exactly can you teach me. You're not a Werewolf." Canagan said more confused then trying to be rude.
Rudina took hold of the necklace she had on. She closed her eyes and focused on her fingers. When she felt the heat of the stone's energy she drew it out. She kept focus on her breathing and keeping the energy contained. Then she went over to Canagan and touched his chest with one fingertip. The energy flew into his body as though it was sucked in with a vacuum.
Within minutes Canagan transformed into not only a Werewolf but a stronger one then he usually was.
" This takes too long but works in a pinch. It took me a day and a half to master what I just did. You have the same amount of time to better this transformation."
Canagan had had his fears laid to rest. Whatever the heck that was, he could most definitely learn a thing or two. He would take every second he had and he would get better at this. He couldn't nearly die every time he protected her.
" Hey little wolf!" A voice called out nearby. It was Maverick, the General of The Bardulf. He looked ready for a fight and was coming at Canagan full speed. Canagan stood firm and tried to transform but was flattened by Maverick.
"Ha ha ha ha ha! You really DO need help boy. You got guts I'll give you that. Most Lowell run like scared puppies. Name's Maverick but call me General." The stocky man turned back and extended his hand.
"Canagan. Pleased we ran into each other General." He said taking the huge man's hand in his.
"I wasn't always this big Canagan. The humans used to bully me so I got stronger. They took me in to train in The Wolf Army. By the time I was ready for revenge all I wanted to do was protect those same idiots. Work hard and maybe I'll train you lad."
Rudina couldn't he happier. If he could be trained then Maverick would be the absolute best they could get. Then Canagan lifted his nose and winced.
" I smell death." He said and Maverick frowned and tried to pick up the scent. He picked it up faintly and wondered how this weak Lowell had found it first.
They followed the trail untill they got to where The Imperials and other Alpha had already gathered. Others were also still arriving after them. This was a very big and deliberate problem.
This was an attack and a bold message. All violence was prohibited outside of The Battlefield. This was to show them that those who had done this, did not play by Werewolf law.
The bodies of three Werewolf were covered, with their families standing close by. This was uncalled for and shook them all to the core.
" This is another reason to get stronger lad. You need to be able to protect Rudina more than ever before." Maverick said after he had payed his respects to the family members. Canagan did the same and returned to Rudina's side quickly.
" Do you remember anything about that night Artair?" Rudina asked Canagan hoping to make some sense of this.
" I just remember the thing that tried to attack you was huge. It looked like it was made of flame. I'm sorry I've been trying to remember but nothing." Canagan said scratching his head nervously.
They were all so consumed with the lose that they didn't realise the enemy had surrounded them completely. They stood ready for battle. Behind the first row the second row burst into flame. They had The Wolves trapped.
Canagan had trained for hours just after he had come from hospital. He stood yet again very tired and unprepared.
" Stop this Immediately. You have NO right to invade our land, kill our families and attack without warning." The King Spoke.
" Leave before we destroy you and those that know you." The Queen added as she put her hand in the air to create rain. The creatures screeched at the water and retreated.
They were safe for now but this was not the end. They hadn't been attacked like this since The Humans had Hunted them all that time ago. Some of the enemy still stood in place.
Rudina knew the next step they needed to take. The fact that Hunter hadn't shown his face since The Bond Assent and now these attacks. Some plan had been set in motion and her enemy could be the man she loved.
She had to find him. She had to know if he was just keeping his distance, or was she so very wrong about him? As though he had read her thoughts, Hunter appeared from behind the enemies. He attached three before their numbers overwhelmed him.
The other wolves jumped into action and joined in. Chaos broke out as fights started everywhere. The Imperials left them be as they were driving back the enemy.
They laughed and shouted as the creatures fled defeated and wounded. It was a small victory as they had just started a feud. They had just done exactly what the enemy had wanted them to. If they were lucky then there would be a fare fight on The Battlefield.
They would have to be on full alert and risk looking for their enemies. It would be a never-ending feud if they didn't negotiate early.
With a war on the horizon they got more news from the town. A pack of Lowell had come through and destroyed a farmer's whole flock.
Canagan would have to do his training in a cage. He was a Lowell and he belonged to that pack. If he didn't attack the flock then he would join them the next time. Your pack always decided your fate and you couldn't resist if you tried.
" Just sit tight Artair I won't let you rot in there." Rudina whispered to Canagan before they took him. She would convince The Imperials to let her use Artair as a tracker. He would find the pack and the one who had turned him. She may even find where this enemy had come from.
Why had everything turned out so upsidedown after her birthday? This was all going to make sense she would make sure of it. She may not be a Wolf but these people were her family. You don't mess with family!
Chapter 6It had gone from bad to worse fast. The very next day it had begun. There had been shops attacked in town in total ten had been looted and ransacked. The shops owned by humans will untouched. This meant that the entire Wolf Pack from The Imperials to the Hemming were entirely without money, food or income."We have to do something." One of the Wolves said." Yesterday they even broke all the windows of Don's Hardware. Every day they do more damage and we sit!"" We have to watch our move Marius. That little bar fight we got into yesterday has started all this." His father said with his hand on Marius's shoulder. The attack had been a distraction and bait. They had been after their food all along. They couldn't hunt either. The packs that had left to seek wild food had been met by The Mori. The fox that protected the woods. They were stuck and had never been hit like this.Rudina sat with her human family and their Bonded Alph
Chapter 7"OK you have to concentrate on a good memory and it has to be connected to blood.""What do you mean it has to be connected to blood?" Canagan replied."I mean you have to think of a memory,a strong memory. It is to contain love and it has to be about someone that contains the same DNA is that clear enough for you?"Rudina held onto the bloodstone. She knew that if she was going to activate the stone it would cost her most of the energy but she had to. She had only just managed to calm Canagan. The next time that happened she might not be able to."That would have to be my mum. My dad used to be in the military and he got called out year after year. We didn't really worry about it we always thought he come back. Untill the one year he didn't and my mum was the strongest person I knew. That's when I really find out how strong she already was. She would tell me the moment that I had a mood or felt sad. "you're
" You can't really be serious Rudina!" Hunter bellowed." As serious as they come Hunter. I've had it with the way you are lately. You dropped me the moment things went wrong. We grew up together and I just can't understand how I got you so wrong." Rudina said as she looked him square in the eye. He might be intimidating and had pushed her around before but, now she didn't flinch." You are the one who excepted that little runt and ran off with him. I was the one who drove away the enemy yet you see me as one." Hunter said barely containing his rage." Don't call Canagan a runt he's brave and saved my life I..."" And I saved ALL our lives back there. I can't believe I almost took you as my mate." Hunter said as he moved his head almost against hers in an aggressive gesture." Same! I'm glad I saw the real you before it was too late Hunter."" Think you so clever huh? Bet you didn't expect this."Before Rudina could think
They had awoken the next morning early. The moon still shone in the sky. As they got closer to the mountains they saw a number of Villagers head out in one direction and followed them. They got into the mountains and found themselves near a mineshaft. Devon and Canagan got work in the mines while Sarina and the others went back to the village to find information. That evening Devon met them with an excited look on his face. They had made enough to eat well and sleep comfortably tonight and he had news."I've found a way in! Where I was working today leads right past Yama territory. I even walked out with the other workers. They sell bits they find there and the mountains pay very well.""Did you sell anything there Devon?" Sarina asked."Not yet but I do have some I could sell." Chapter 4Rudina sat near Canagan's hospital bed. He looked alot bigger then she remembered yet vunrable as he slept. He had apologised, given her a gift and honoured his bond by saving her life. He rested peacefully and healed well for a new Werewolf. She looked over to his shield and sword. It was propped up against the wall nearby his bed. There were deep gashes in the metal. The shield would need two humans to carry and was heavy and strong. Rudina traced the lines with her fingertips. This wasn't a weapon that caused the damage and the size of the creature's claws were huge. She couldn't trace it to anything by touching it. It meant it was too long ago or that there was little humanity in this being.A doctor came in to check on Canagan. This was a special hospital. The Imperials supported the local Animal Rescue Centre heavily. In return they employed Werewolf staff to handle these types of cases. People didn't look twice when a wounded wolf gets car
