It was break time and like what Adrian said..I had to go meet him. So, I went to his office, opened the door and said

"Finally..I can go for lunch." he looked at me from his laptop and said

"Can't you knock. Talk bird!?" my expression changed

"stop calling me that. I've told you before."

"Talk bird." he said again and I frowned. 

"I love to see that cute face. Just keep doing that for the whole day and I'll treat you to another dinner tomorrow." he said again. And my face lit up

"Really. Then this will be fun" I said and did it again as he laughed at my expression. Then something came up to my mind and I furrowed my brows saying

"I know what you're trying to do but it won't work. don't think you'll go free calling me that..I have my ways" he stopped laughing and smiled. he stood up and came closer to me saying

"My talk bird has her ways. Let's see those later. But right now, we have somewhere to go..I don't want to change my mind about this" I raised my brows at him when he was closer to me and said

"We'll see about that. Stranger.." I was about going when he said

"I've warned you never to call me that again. Right!?" I was looking away all this while and he said again

"You seem to forget so soon what I did to you..I promised I won't hurt you again. But you make me want to take my words back. Don't let me do that. Trust me when I say this. Billie" walking pass me and going towards the door..I stood there. What does he mean by that?

"Are you just going to stand there like a broken chicken. Or come let's go." he said again. And I came back to my senses and we went for lunch

We arrived the restaurant and we got in. Few seconds as we sat, someone came to us. He was tall, handsome but not as handsome and huge as Adrian. He said surprisingly

"A d r I a n!"

"Lane. Oh my god man." he said standing up. And they greeted each other in a friendly way.

"Wow. What a long time!" Lane said and they sat down. Still looking at him, Adrian said

"Yeahh.." it's then Lane saw me sitting opposite Adrian and said

"Heyyy..may I know who this Elegant lady here is?"

"Uhm

yeah. She's my secretary. Billie" Adrian said and his smiled doubled as he said

"What a beautiful name. Miss Billie. Nice to meet you." I was surprised at first so..I hesitated saying

"Nice to meet you too Mr. Lane" still looking at me charmingly he said.

"Just call me Lane." I gave him a faint smile and turned to see Adrian looking from him to me. then back to him he said 

"L a n e...

so, what brought you here?" Lane turned his attention to Adrian and said

"I was waiting for a business partner. But then, something came up and he called saying he wouldn't make it. Soo, we had to postpone it to next week. As I was about leaving, I saw you and this breath taken melanin (he said turning his gaze to me. then back to Adrian) entering..." Adrian was giving him a daring glare and Lane said almost like a whisper

"Chill men. It's just a compliment. What are the faces for anyway? She's just your secretary right..." Adrian turned his gaze to me and I didn't just give him a look. Knowing how intimidating his eyes are. He looked away saying

"Whatever. Just stop fliting with her...actually Lane we were about taking lunch when you came. So"

he said looking back at him.

"Oh.

I'm so sorry. You haven't change at all Man" Lane said and was about getting up when I said

"What are you sorry for. you can join us in our lunch." Adrian turned his gaze to me and one more time..I didn't dare to look.

"Uhm..sure but--" he didn't finish his statement when I said 

"But. What?" Adrian still staring at me and I at Lane.

"Okay. Why not." Lane said and I smiled. Adrian turned his gaze to him but Lane didn't look at his direction.

I'm sure Adrian was burning in silence. We ordered our food and ate. they continued their discussion for some time. After which Lane started asking some personal things about me and it was almost like a data. In Adrian's presence.

All the while I didn't look at him. As

I kept feeling his gaze on me.

The lunch was great as Lane and I kept laughing at the least things. He was so sweat.

We finally finished as Adrian payed the bills and we headed out. Lane asked for my phone number as Adrian shrugged and said

"Man, what the fuck!" as lane was about to back out..I said

"What's your problem Adrian? Lane. Don't mind him. You can take my number"

We exchanged numbers and he Left saying

"We'll be meeting again sometime. Adrian"

All the while Adrian kept staring at me with concern and confusion. But didn't mention anything. Even when we arrived home after the day ended. He still didn't mention anything.

I went to the living room and saw him there..I asked

"What was that about Adrian?"

"what was what exactly?" he asked

"I meant with Lane." I said and he kept quite

"I believe. I'm not talking to myself." I said and he still didn't say anything

"Can we please talk about this. Like right now" I said and he looked up to me seriously

"What do you want us to talk about. when you have already dished yourself in" he said and I

furrowed my brows 

"What do you mean by dished?" I asked and he looked at me for some time and said

"What happened to " I want to heal myself first"?" I looked at him unbelievably and said

"Adrian..I..thought you'll be happy for me. instead you say this? Yeah, I said that but. Changed my mind after listening to you told me. and now." I was hurt a little..I don't know why but, then I realized..he was more when he said

"Yeah I said that too. But it's different here. I'm sorry I say this but..I don't want you more hurt. I just wish you understand this. before it's too late" he walked away when my phone rang and it was from Lane..I picked up

On phone

"I'm sorry for calling this late. But I just wanted to check on you." he said

"I'm ok.

just tired" I said 

"That'll be fine. Just don't stress too much. Alright I'll be hanging up. So, you can rest" he said

"Alright. Good night Lane" I said

"Goodnight. Billie" he said and hung up.

I was still hurt from what Adrian said. So, I went to my room. Locked the door and laid on the bird with my face facing the ceiling. as sleep drifted me away....
