Chapter 70.

Alyssa's POV.

I heard sudden footsteps behind me, it made my heartbeat fast, it was so unexpected because I knew I was walking alone seconds ago.

I quickened my pace immediately, but my legs felt like jelly, and my stomach tied itself into a knot as though I ate something bad.

And the footsteps behind me increased, making me stop in fear and shock that someone is following me.

But the fear turned into worry when they got louder still.

The footsteps are heavy and rhythmic, not soft at all, unlike mine, it made me shudder with apprehension at how they approach. The noise was getting closer now.

It made me nervous. My heart was racing and the sweat starts pouring off of my body.

“Who is there?” I said out loud. “What do you want?”

My throat tightened up as I waited, I could hear the pounding blood inside my ears. I swallowed heavily as I tried to calm myself down. But that only made me feel uneasy again.

There was no answer, which made me more scared.
