Alyssa's POV.

"Where have you been?" the head slave asked immediately I entered the slave quarters.

"I was working ma'am." I lied, I hoped she wouldn't be upset, my heart was thumping loudly.

I was sure she could hear it, "I was told you went to meet rogues." The head slave walked closer to me.

I stepped back, I didn't want her getting any closer to me, she could hit me immediately.

I knew how frequent she was about punishing other slaves.

"It was a mistake." I replied softly.

I wasn't ready to get into trouble with her, I'd already got punished for what I didn't do and I still got hurt after being healed, I didn't want any form of pain.

She narrowed her eyes and studied my face, before nodding at me once and walking away without another word to me.

I breathed a sigh of relief, I made sure not to look in the direction of where she'd gone, afraid that she would turn around and catch me looking at her.
