Emily POV

After declaring I was confident that the doctor would be able to remain professional, I quickly tried changing the subject. I needed to calm my anxiety and distract myself.

“So, what did you want to do today?” I asked Callie.

“Oh, just a little shopping, and show you some of the inner workings of the pack.” She remarked.

“There’s a laptop already set up in your office for you. I’ve already had you added to our server, but you can add yourself as a second user to have access to your current Outlook email or we can merge it with the new one so your contacts transfer and any emails get automatically forwarded. It’s up to you.” Easton explained.

“I’ll probably just merge them. It’ll make it easier.” I admitted.

“Do you want me to have someone do that for you?” Easton asked as he handed me a slip of paper.

“No. I got it.” I answered with a smile. I glanced at the paper and saw it was my username and password.

“Well, I’ll go to my office and get started on that.

Emily POV Hannah came in and sat in the chair beside Callie. I went to make a coffee. As promised, the coffee bar was fully stocked. I smiled and asked Callie and Hannah if they wanted a coffee. “Oh please!” Hannah gushed enthusiastically. Callie chuckled and replied, “That would be great! Let’s see what you got over there.” She came to look at the options while I started Hannah’s. I knew what she would want. “So, Hannah, we have to go see the lead doctor at ten. I was thinking after lunch we can go with Callie and let her show us around some more and do a little shopping.” I suggested. “The shopping part sounds great, but why the doctor?” Hannah frowned. “Just to start a file on us as new pack members. Also, I need birth control.” I shrugged. “Will you have to get a special kind because of the Fae half?” Hannah asked. “I think so. But that’s not

  • The Forsaken Daughter   50: The Doctor

Emily POV The entire drive to the doctor was filled with Ryan and Luke joking. Easton was driving and I was in the passenger seat, so we just ignored them. I was staring out of the window absentmindedly. I was still trying to come to terms with the fact that my entire life until a few days ago had been a twisted web of lies. I had no idea where to really even start to try to unravel it. The books from the library had given me an idea of some basic Fae abilities I should have, but I had no idea how to use them. I also didn’t know where to begin with finding my mother’s name, much less her family or the Fae kingdom. It was beginning to seem daunting, and I was suddenly feeling that I didn’t want to put my life with Easton on hold to search for the answers. Sparks dancing across my hand pulled me out of my thoughts. ‘Everything ok?’ Easton mind linked. ‘Yeah. Everything’s great.’ I replied

  • The Forsaken Daughter   51: A Fun Aunt

Emily POV Aunt Evelyn started walking us back out of her examination room to the room we entered when we first came through the hallway. I noticed a desk in the corner and a sitting area. “That’s my assistant’s desk. She’s off today.” She explained as she noticed us looking around. “Come through here. This leads to my private office, the lounge and some exam rooms.” She instructed as she led us through a door I hadn’t seen when we first arrived. We followed Aunt Evelyn to the lounge, and she looked like the cat that got the canary the entire time. We made it into the lounge and she greeted the rest of our crew with a beaming smile and warm hug. She paused as she pulled away from Easton. “Did you pick up the wrong body wash in the shower? It smells like women’s body wash.” She probed. She tried to maintain her confused expression, but I saw a playful glint in her eyes. I held my laugh in as shock passed over Easton’s face so quickly that I almost missed it. “Some

Easton POV “We break one thing fifteen years ago and Aunt Evelyn thinks we’re going to break something every time we come here.” Ryan huffed as we walked to the lounge. “Who is we? I had no part in that.” I replied with a raised eyebrow. “Oh please, you dared him.” Luke chortled. “I dared him to jump from the couch to the recliner. I didn’t dare him to break the brand new recliner.” I defended. I knew it wouldn’t take long for my aunt to finish up with Emily and Hannah, so I tried to relax while we waited, but it was difficult because I wanted to be close to my mate. Luke and Ryan were going back and forth about who had the better pranks growing up, and Callie just rolled her eyes at the two men behaving like teenaged boys. “This is why she thinks y’all are gonna break something. Y’all get super competitive at absolutely the most inconvenient times.” She stated. “We’re just having fun, babe.” Luke grinned back with a wink. At some point I noticed Luke, Callie and Rya

Easton POV Aunt Evelyn gave us all a hug, and when she was pulling away from me she asked, “Did you pick up the wrong body wash in the shower? It smells like women’s body wash.” I quickly masked my shock at her question. “Something like that.” I mumbled.Aunt Evelyn looked at Emily and the rest of the room erupted in laughter. I had a sudden feeling the secret conversation from earlier was about me smelling like Emily’s body wash. “Let me guess, you washed your Luna with your body wash so she pulled a fast one and washed you with hers?” Aunt Evelyn mused. “Well, if I have to smell like his body wash all day it was only fair. It’s not like I don’t already smell like him.” Emily chirped. Aunt Evelyn praised her. “Well, I can see you’ll be keeping him straight.” As she went to sit down she noted, “I’m glad to see nothing seems to be destroyed in here.” Emily sat beside me as Aunt Evelyn asked her and Hannah to tell her about themselves. I could feel Emily’s contentment as sh

  • The Forsaken Daughter   54: Hangry?

Emily POV I was starting to feel irritated on the drive to the deli. I knew it was irrational because I couldn’t place what was irritating me. I figured it was just nerves over how she-wolves would treat me in public today. I didn’t expect Easton to pick up on it, but when he asked if I was good and Hannah said I was hangry I was floored. Just yesterday I told them I don’t get hangry. Kyra laughed in my mind. ‘You most definitely are.’ I admitted to Easton I might be a little hangry, through the mind link of course. He just answered that service was quick. ‘Good, because I’m starving.’ I thought to myself. I wasn’t sure what to expect going into the deli. Of course, I knew what the delis were like in my old pack, but I also knew they were completely different in other states. We walked in and I saw the deli was a mix between traditional delis and southern delis. It was quite busy, but looked to be running smoothly. We got in line to order, and the couple in front of

Emily POV The walk to the bank didn’t take very long, and Paisley was waiting for us. “I hope you didn’t rush your lunch to meet us here.” I told her as she led us to her office. “Of course not, Luna. Although I would have gladly done so if need be.” She boasted. “Well, I guess it’s a good thing it wasn’t necessary today.” I replied. True to our outing so far, all six of us went into Paisley’s office. Ryan and Luke stood so Hannah and Callie could sit in the two chairs not occupied by Easton and me. “So, what can I help y’all with today?” Paisley asked. “We just need to get debit cards for Emily and Hannah. I apologize for bringing the entire crew for this.” Easton informed her. “No apologies necessary, Alpha. We are all excited that you and Beta Ryan have found your mates.” Paisley chuckled. ‘Poor Easty. He must not like having to share his mate.’ Callie giggled in the mind link. I suppressed my laughter at her statement. ‘It’s probably because he didn’t get shower s

Emily POV “What’s your name?” I asked the employee. “Kacie.” She replied. “Well, Kacie. I’m not sure what your issue is, but it must be hard to be so rude to someone you’ve never even met. So, congratulations on your achievement. I know your parents must be so proud.” I smirked. Kacie’s eyes widened and I could hear a few customers whispering to each other. “Now, I don’t expect anyone to fall at my feet when I walk by, but I do expect to be treated with the basic respect or at the very least, with common courtesy, just like anyone else would expect when they wish to patronize an establishment, or to just simply EXIST.” I rebuked. “Now, will that be a problem for you?” I demanded. “I-I’m sorry. What can I get started for you?” Kacie whimpered. I mind linked Callie. ‘Is there another coffee shop nearby?’ ‘It’s on the other side of the shopping center, maybe a ten minute walk.’ I placed my order, and looked to Hannah and Callie for them to do the same. I then decided to ma

  • The Forsaken Daughter   73: Wise Words

Easton POV I felt like I’d lived an entire lifetime in the past three days. I could only imagine how Emily felt. I didn’t know anyone in the pack was part Fae, so it was a shock to learn Kent’s mate Michelle was. When Michelle agreed to speak with us upstairs, I thought we would just be discussing simple Fae abilities and maybe how Emily could use them. I definitely was not expecting Michelle’s grandmother to literally pop in and drop the answers to Emily’s questions right into our laps. I sat quietly while Aisling and Emily spoke, trying to take everything in and wrap my head around it. When Aisling said Emily’s mother was the Fae princess it explained why Emily had such a powerful aura and Alpha command. ‘So she’s technically a princess, too.’ Dallas preened. ‘I guess.’ I replied. ‘Definitely explains why she’s stronger than her dad.’ My heart clenched when Aisling said she would take Emily to the Fae kingdom, but I was quickly relieved when she added that she would t

  • The Forsaken Daughter   72: Real Answers

Emily POV “The entire Fae Kingdom?” I questioned. “Yes, dear. Your mother was the princess.” I blinked a few times as the words registered. I downed the rest of my drink before slowly standing and walking to refill my glass. If my mother was the princess, what does that make me? Surely they don’t expect me to rule the kingdom one day. I suppose that could also explain why Alpha commands don’t work on me and why I’m stronger than my dad. Everyone in the office quietly watched me as I walked back to the couch and sat down. “Who in their right mind marks some mediocre she-wolf when they’re already mated to a freaking PRINCESS?” I half-shouted to no-one in particular. I then remembered Easton saying he bet it was a love potion Katherine used. I turned to look him.

  • The Forsaken Daughter   71: Family

Emily POV We walked into my office and I walked straight to the bar. “Coffee or cocktail?” I offered. “An Old-Fashioned for us, please.” Kent replied. Easton had followed me to the bar and instructed me to sit while he made the four of us drinks. I went to sit on the couch and motioned to the chairs to instruct Kent and Michelle to sit as well. When we were all sitting, I took a deep breath as I contemplated where to begin. Easton gently nudged me. I took a large gulp of my drink before starting. “So, this information is confidential. Can y’all assure me you won’t discuss this outside of this room?” I asked. “You have our word. It remains between the four of us.” Michelle stated sincerely. “After we mated, I learned that Katherine is not my biological moth

  • The Forsaken Daughter   70: Startling Surprise

Emily POV Michelle was the opposite of most of the she-wolves I had met in Silver Springs, or ever, really. It was apparent that she had a no nonsense attitude and I was a bit taken aback at her grave demeanor. I felt an instant connection with Michelle for some strange reason. She didn’t seem to be overly friendly or over talkative, but I could sense something in her that seemed to tie us together. My wolf could sense it as well. ‘I don’t know what it is but it’s intriguing.’ Kyra mumbled to me. I was surprised to learn she was originally from the Conecuh Forest pack. Everyone I had met from that pack was usually playful and unserious. Like Jake without the arrogance and douchery. I told her I was originally from Blue Moon, and she looked at me quizzically for a brief moment and asked, “Who are your parents?” Hannah sensed my hesitancy and blurted, “She’s Alpha Adam’s oldest daughter.” “Well, I’ve always doubted the rumors about you, and after meeting you I’m glad I

  • The Forsaken Daughter   69: Smells like Teen Spirit

Emily POV Easton chuckled and slowly slid out of me. “It’s definitely my new favorite pastime.” He started to move away from me, and confusion washed over me until he reassured me with a light kiss on my forehead. “I need to throw the condom in the trash.” I hummed at his statement as he walked off. My eyes started to flutter closed, and I felt Easton slip back on the couch beside me and pull me close in his arms right before I drifted off to sleep. I woke up when the urge to use the bathroom hit me. I was cuddled close against Easton, and was thinking of a way to get up without waking up. I finally decided there wasn’t a way to do so since we had fallen asleep on the couch and I was between him and the back cushions. I tried to sit up, but he tightened his grip around my waist and mumbled something in his sleep. “Babe.” I whispered. I moved one hand to his cheek. He hummed in response and his eyes fluttered briefly. “I need to get up.” I said. He opened his eyes and loc

  • The Forsaken Daughter   68: Killing Time

Emily POV I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t for Easton to kiss the mark on my neck and ask, “Do you like this?” He continued to lick at the mark and kiss it and I couldn’t stop the small moan that escaped me as he did. “I more than like it.” I whispered. I slid my hands underneath his shirt to lightly stroke his back. His hands cupped my ass and I knew how I wanted to spend the time before dinner. He pulled his head from my neck and our lips met instantly. It didn’t take long for Easton to lift me, and I wrapped my legs around him. I grabbed the bottom of his shirt and pulled it up. He pulled his lips from mine just long enough for me to pull his shirt over his head. I was glad he’d decided to wear a polo shirt instead of a button up. Easton had walked us to the couch, and he sat down with me in his lap. I leaned back and pulled my own shirt off. His eyes darkened as he looked at me. He reached around to unhook my bra, and I let it fall. His mouth went to o

  • The Forsaken Daughter   67: Alone Again

Easton POV I followed Emily into the kitchen and ignored Aunt Evelyn’s teasing. I leaned on the kitchen island and watched Emily start the coffee maker and get creamer and a bottled water out of the fridge. She caught me watching her and leaned over the island to whisper, “Anything you’d like to share with the class, Alpha?” “I definitely don’t want to share this with anyone.” I murmured. Emily stood to walk back and add creamer to her now-finished cup of coffee. She put the creamer back in fridge and asked, “Did you want anything?” “I think we gotta wait for what I want.” I winked. “Well, can’t say I’m surprised by that.” I heard Aunt Evelyn say from behind me. “Well, at least I’m not trying to drag her off with y’all in the living room.” I mumbled. She smirked at me and looked at Emily. “I have that monthly dose for you. It should be effective within twenty-four hours of taking it, so I suggest using other methods for the first day or two after.” She handed Emi

  • The Forsaken Daughter   66: Relief

Easton POV When Emily got out of the SUV I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I was relieved she was finally back in my sight after only a few hours apart. I gave her a tight hug and started to passionately kiss her, but quickly remembered our audience and pulled away. I looked at Callie when I heard her giggle. “Told you they were miserable.” She winked at Emily. “Babe, you know it’s normal for newly mated couples. Besides, Easton got teased enough today by Aunt Evelyn.” Luke laughed. I turned to glare at him and saw that Luke was watching Ryan and me knowingly. I guess he had experienced this feeling when he and Callie were newly mated. I told Emily they could go upstairs and we’d get the bags, but she said it would be quicker if we all got them. Callie suggested taking them to their suite, so we decided on that. Once we had all the bags, I turned to dismiss Kent and Mitch. I was taken by surprise when Kent and Mitch looked to Emily and asked to carry the

  • The Forsaken Daughter   65: Online Shopping

Easton POV “Aw, come on! Can’t we play a few more games?” Ryan whined. “Fine.” I grumbled. “We’re playing Mario Kart, though.” I knew it would be a good idea to distract myself (and Ryan) from the fact that our mates were out shopping without us. We walked over to the side of the arcade where game consoles were. We sat down and grabbed three controllers to start our game. Several Mario Kart races later, Ryan and Luke were both pouting at my wins. “How do you always beat us in this?” Luke mumbled. I shrugged. “When you’re the best, you’re the best.” I smirked. Ryan huffed in annoyance. “I’ll win one day.” “Not today. It’s time to go back to work.” I said as I stood up. Ryan and Luke followed me. “Why is it so empty in here today?” I asked as we walked towards the exit. “Probably because school isn’t over for the day.” Luke said. I took my phone out to check the time and grumbled internally. Time seemed to moving slower than usual. Luke seemed to know what I
