Chapter 4: The Lycan King

EDDA'S POV

" Did you hear that? I heard a growl!", I immediately blurted out as soon as the Lycan King's Beta shut the door behind us.

My five senses were all incredibly active  because I was trained since I was a kid to be Alpha Damien's perfect Luna.

I heard a ridiculous laugh and her voice sounded familiar from the other girls. It's not evening yet or nighttime so our were-vision hasn't fully developed yet. For us, werewolves, our senses are only active and more stronger during the night under a full moon especially when we're in our shifting form but I sense differently.

" Are you kidding us, Edda? Ladies, did you hear something? Edda said that she heard a growl", she's asking the other girls with sarcasm.

We're over 20 and I only knew three she-wolves including Imore.

I chuckled a bit while rolling my eyes in the darkness.

" I'm certain about that. Do you think the Lycan King is with us? This is a slave hunting session, remember?", I added while ignoring Imore's opinion.

All of the girls started laughing at me when the growls suddenly echoed the whole cellar. All of them screamed in fear and started dragging each other near the cellar door but I was not like them. I just stood there while listening to his growl until I realized that he's not far from us instead he's one of us.

" All of you, can you please calm down? He's just beside us!", I shouted and all of them stopped running and halted.

The room turned quiet because the girls stopped screaming then the room instantly brightened as the lights turned on. All of us looked around to find him but he disappeared until Beta Colbi and the other soldiers went inside and dragged me out.

" Hey, wait, where are you taking me?", I struggled from their grip.

The girls especially Imore looked so confused why I was the one being forced to come out.

" Maybe she's the first girl who gets eliminated. She's too loud and anxious all the time!", the other girl muttered.

While being forcefully dragged outside by these soldiers, I can still hear the girls laughter behind me.

I kept on struggling from their grip until they dumped me back inside the car where we used to ride earlier.

" Can you please stay quiet, Miss Reggitton! We won't bite you. We took you out there because you're the one who passed the test!", his Beta  calmly informed me as he slowly placed his hands on the steering wheel.

Silence filled the car as he started to drive. I was speechless about the result.

" Am I not dreaming?", I asked myself trying to recollect everything inside my mind.

I felt like the Goddess Luna in favored me. My lips formed a smile almost reaching my ears for this lucky day.

" Don't get so excited, Omega. The real test is coming for you." The Lycan King's Beta warned me that I find it confusing.

I decided to stay quiet during the trip until we finally arrived at his territory. I took a deep breath as one of the soldiers opened the car door and ordered me to come out.

" Hurry up! The Lycan King doesn't like the lazy slave maid!", one of the soldiers shouted at me when Beta Colbi ordered him to shut his mouth.

" Just don't ask questions and follow him, Miss Reggitton. A slave maid only obeyed understand?", he added firmly.

" Yes, sir. I apologize." I simply replied while thinking about the other girls I left behind.

I still couldn't believe that I was chosen to be the Lycan King's new slave maid. Everything seems like a dream come true but I'm still thinking what had happened to Kaya and Astra. I don't care about Imore because she's the reason why I was tortured in front of packs because of  a crime I didn't commit.

" If you're thinking about your friends and the others out there, don't worry, Master Killan prepared a different tasks for them." It's the first time I saw his Beta making a sneer in front of me as we headed to a place he called the Lycan King's office.

I suddenly felt goosebumps everywhere. I thought this slave hunting session is just about getting chosen by the Lycan King itself and after that you will served him right away but I was wrong. This is not as easy as what I believe it has to be. It's my first time to feel anxious where my whole body started to shake.

I wanted to ask more questions to his Beta but I'm afraid not to. It's better not to know what the Lycan King's plans are for us because the more I get closer to him, the more scared I am.

" We're here, Miss Regetton. Good luck. You better please well master Killan or you will end up just like the others." He warned me before giving me his final gaze.

" Wait--I--", I called him to come back but he's already gone.

I was left alone standing in front of a huge black door without anyone beside me. If this isn't my goal maybe I already escape from here because no one saw or witnessed what I'm trying to do since there's no one to stop me. I kept walking back and forth outside the black door while thinking whether to come inside or just ran away when the door suddenly turned opened.

My heart suddenly pounded so fast as soon as I stepped inside the Lycan King's office. As I ambled closer, I looked around and there's many deer heads hanging on the wall. I tightly wrapped my arms on my chest as if it's my first time to feel fear all of the sudden. I was never been anxious before not even in front of Alpha Damien. I guess Lycan King Killan was a King not to be messed up with.

" I got this. This is my only way to get away from my father." I murmured when a man wearing a black suit appeared right in front of me.

I gasped for air as soon as my eyes met his. Before I could literally make eye contact with him, his deep yet cold voice echoed the whole room.

" Face on the floor, Omega slave maid!", I heard his growl and this sounds seems familiar.

" Y--es, yes, ma--ster-", I stuttered while keeping my eyes on the ground.

I don't know what's with him but he made me obey him eagerly without asking any questions. I was raised being a stubborn Luna and my father always gave me some punishment once I disobeyed him but with the Lycan King's presence, he seemed like a true leader.

I only heard his footsteps as he stepped forward next to me. My body twitch when he place his hands on my chin making me to looked up. I haven't seen the Lycan King's face yet so if he continued on lifting my face up, now is my chance to see him but he immediately let go of my face and ordered me to keep my head facing the ground.

" Learn how to respect your master! Inside my jurisdiction, ", he growled.

My heart keeps pounding so fast but at the same time, my wolf keep whispering inside my head that she scented a strong smell of our mates.

" Will you please cut it out? This isn't a time for jokes like that. We're in front of the Lycan King!", I scolded my wolf but she insisted.

" Exactly! I mean, it's him! My wolf smells his wolf! What if the Lycan King is our mate?", my wolf blurted out when I heard him calling my name again.

I almost jumped in surprised to hear his deep and commanding voice.

" Wait here until head maid Rea comes to assist you your first task." He simply said and passed right beside me.

I tried to steal even a small glimpse of him but I was afraid to make a mistake because this was the perfect timing for me, to get chosen without doing anything. What I noticed was  his scent is really addicted. I felt like I wanted to be wrapped in his arms as he intimately put a mark on my neck.

" Argghh, I'm too ambitious for that." I whispered when I heard a strong female voice behind my back.

" Edda Reggitton?", she called out my name with affirmation.

I clears my throat and turned around. I slowly lifted my head and I saw a lady who was a little bit older than me. Her hair was tied into a bun nearly and she was a bit taller than me. She got a calm yet serious face as she made eye contact towards me. She was also wearing this think rounded eyeglasses that almost filled her small face.

" Yes, it's me. Are you the head maid Rea?", I softly asked her with a smile.

She nodded her head after raising her eyebrows towards me. She wasn't friendly at all I guess.

" Follow me. As master Killan new personal slave maid, you have to learn more about him." She said as we went outside his office and we navigated the way to ab another room with lots of books and handmade drawings.

I suddenly got confused after hearing his personal slave maid. My expectations was far from what I heard from Rea's lips about being the Lycan King's slave maid. I thought I will be like other Omega slaves who will wash dishes for him, cook and served him but I was wrong. I was given a task only for the Lycan King's satisfaction but I'm still curious what was it.

" Sit. Let me tell you about master Killan." She ordered me and I followed her instruction.

She took a book from the shelf but it's very old and almost torn. She flipped one pages and start to read what's written there.

" Master Killan lose his ability to scent anyone even his mate after his parents died in a battle meaning the Lycan King can't smell anything. Your first task is to check if he can smell you or not." After reading the first page, she immediately close the book and stared at me.

" Did you hear your first task?", she asked me.

I find it confusing but I just nodded my head.

" Can I asked you something?", I said.

" Go on, tell me." Head maid Rea simply replied.

" What do you mean that I'll let him smells me?", I said.

She scoffs a bit and made eye contact on me again. She slowly took off her big round eyeglasses and make me understand what it meant.

" Easy. You will come to the Lycan King's room and get naked. You will stand in front of him and he will check every inch of you if he can smell you or not", she elaborated everything which gave me goosebumps all of the sudden.
