Kylie’s POV
“What the hell?!” My eyes opened and widened. The glass of wine in my hand fell on the ground. For a moment, it felt like I was hallucinating. I gently rubbed my eyes, trying to get a clearer vision, but that was my reality. “Austin Nitaile announced his marriage with Emily L.” I re-read the content on the television screen. Emily. L. The name sounded very familiar. He said a lot about her and how they ended things for a very long time. I didn't want to believe he would ever cheat on me, not with someone who left him when at his lowest. “This is not possible; there must be a mix-up somewhere,” I murmured under my breath as I rushed up the stairs. I grabbed my phone, calling my husband, Austin Nitaile. Austin and I have been happily married. It was our fourth anniversary together. I had planned so much in celebration of our anniversary when he returned from work. I wanted to celebrate uniquely, considering how he didn't show up for the last anniversary due to his business trip. Seeing such news, I couldn't wait for any more. “Pick up the damn phone,” I said. My hands are shaking. I flipped it on the couch, pacing around back and forth in the living room, biting my nails. “Ding,” I heard the door open. “Austin!” I called out. I smiled widely, my heart pounding so loud. For a moment, I forgot I was supposed to be mad. His broad shoulders made me want to run into his arms like I used to, but his pretty face seemed not to be in the proper mood. He gently walked inside not uttering a word to me. I walked behind him, contemplating if I should talk about the recent news or not. He halted in front of the television; the information was still ongoing on the channel, considering it was the hot gist of the day. “Can you imagine? Bloggers and fake news,” I spoke. That was the only way I could ask without making him feel offended. I didn't want to be a wife who doubted her husband's loyalty. I mean, Austin is a very famous person, and only a few people knew we were married; it is only normal if rumors of him being married to his Ex are still flying up everywhere. I knew it was disrespectful, but that was the only way i could keep my marriage. “It's not fake,” he murmured out. “What?!” I exclaimed. It was like I was hearing things in my ear. “I want a divorce” his voice came out dead. The word divorce sent a wave of fear into me. My whole body became weak, my hands shaking. “A divorce?!” My voice came out brittle, water surrounded my eyes. The atmosphere became so quiet that even the sound of a pin drop could be heard. He gently turned, staring deep into my eyes. “Why?-” my lips trembled. “Why?! Aren't you tired of this bondage called marriage? Things are not working out!” He threw the bomb at my face. Two years into our marriage was when the change happened. He suddenly became a nightcrawler. He stopped sending gifts on special occasions like my birthday. I didn't let all of that get to me as I continued to be a good wife to my husband. I believed it might be work-related issues, and with time, he will come around. “We can talk about that” I stretched my hand “I mean- He flipped my hand away while I tried to hold him. “There is nothing to talk about. I have thought about it and I wondered why I got married to you in the first place. I mean, look at you.” he pointed his hand at me from head to toe. “What exactly do you have to offer in this marriage? You just sit at home all day cooking while powerful women are out there achieving greater things. I deserve better!” His words were like a knife pierced through my broken heart. Tears streaming down my eyes. “ Austin!” I yelled and took a deep, sharp breath. “Please..” I said in a calm voice and continued “Let not go through this root, whatever it is that I might have done, I am sorry. If it is about me not working, I will get another job” “Nothing can be done about it. I have made my decision, and not even you can change my mind,” he responded flatly. I took a step backward. The fact that he said all of that staring into my eyes, not even my tears could stop him. There was more to what was happening. “Is it because of her? Because of that parasite?!” I covered the gaps between us. “Do not call her names” he scolded, taking sides of his Mistress against his wife. “Since when has this been going on?” It took me a few moments before I could finally ask the right question. It took me time to realize the scum had been cheating on me. “ Does that matter?” “My lawyers will send the divorce papers across to you,” he said. His eyes were crystal clear, with not even a bit of remorse in them. I chuckled and bit my lower lips. Anger boiling through my veins. I felt like grabbing him by his shirt, I felt like using my fingers on his pretty face. Four years of my life, four freaking years of loving and living my life according to his policy and betrayal was what I ended up with?!. “Yes. It does matter,” I answered and continued, “Is this the reason why you never let our marriage out in the public?” I held my hands together very tightly. This time, I was so close up to him that I could hear the sound of his breath. He laughed. “ You think you are worth the woman to be seen with me?!” “What-” I trembled, blinking my eyes. His words broke me again; at this point, I couldn't stop the tears from gushing out. “ I got better things to handle.” He pushed me so hard, making me fall on the ground. There is nothing that hurts more than seeing the person whom I have loved all my life change within the Twink of an eye. He didn't just cheat; he also doesn't care about me anymore. He didn't glimpse at me as he walked out of the house. “ Kylie!” the door opened. “Did he do this to you?!” Mia asked as she rushed towards me “How dare him?” She turned and took a step. I held her by the leg. Mia never liked Austin; she has always wanted me to divorce his sorry ass but I never listened to her. “I am so sorry” she wrapped her arms around me. I placed my head on her arm, crying and sobbing. “You are leaving his worthless ass” I gently glanced at Mia as she continued “Yes, right now!” “I will go park your things” she added and walked up the stairs. At this point, I decided to let things go. It is okay to start over again; it is never the end of the world. “Gba gba” the sound of the doorbell brought me back to reality. I signed and walked to get the door. “ How- word got stuck in my mouth as I opened the door. In front of me were two men dressed in black uniforms and a black belt around their waist. “Mrs Amelia Natalie, you are under arrest!”Kylie's POV “What are you talking about?!” Mia's voice came from behind. I gently glanced at her wondering the same thing she said.“You have got the wrong person,” I finally responded. “Are you Mrs Amelia Natalie?” “Yes, maybe not anymore.”I stared at the officer whose face seemed not friendly.Mia dragged me behind, standing between myself and the police officers.“ You have no right to barge into our home like this. We could sue you for defamation of character,” Mia spoke. She was more like my superwoman. “ Madam, we are not here for you. We are only carrying out our duties and we won't take any form of destruction” “No way!” She spread her hands widely, not giving way to any of the officers.I hid behind her; fear crept up my veins, wondering exactly what was happening.“Get out of the way!” The other officers, who hadn't said a word since their arrival, pushed Mia, making her fall to the door.“ What are you doing? You- He folded my hand behind.“Let go of me!” I continued t
Kylie's POV It was a long, silent drive to the house. Madam Wilson didn't say a word to me since we left the police custody. I couldn't look her in the face, the shame that I failed after she severally warned me against my decisions was eating me up so badly.Madam Wilson was my grandma. Four years ago, I met Austin, and we fell deeply in love. Madam Wilson was pissed when she heard about my relationship with Austin. She didn't support me getting married to someone with nothing to his name; she believed they were only humble because they didn't possess the power needed. I was so much in love that I left everything behind just to be with him but guess who was going back home? Me, the prodigal daughter.“How did you know?” I murmured out. Looking at my feet like a treasure was kept there.“Is that supposed to be a question?” The atmosphere went quiet again. Compared to Madam Wilson's status, that was not the right question. Madam Wilson is a respectable and well-known business tycoon
Kylie’s POV I walked into the office. I glanced around, from the white-painted ceiling to the luxurious sofa to the carefully decorated walls.I sighed. “CEO: Kylie Wilsons” I used my hand to trace around it and then smiled.“Good day, Miss Kylie.“How are you, Lady O?” I gently turned around. Lady O is the family's spokesperson. She oversees every deal concerning the Wilson family, she also works closely with Madam Wilson.“ For your first project,” she placed a load of files on the table and continued. “It is an international deal, and we, Bhutan, and some other companies are bidding on the project. We have been on it for months now; Madam Wilson believes in your judgment, so she wants you to take on it as soon as you resume office,” she explained.“Wow! But it's my first time with things like this. Don't you think I need time to learn how this thing works?” I said.“It isn't your first time Kylie” she smiledShe was right, you know. Even though I never worked in the company, I
