Kylie’s POV
I walked into the office. I glanced around, from the white-painted ceiling to the luxurious sofa to the carefully decorated walls. I sighed. “CEO: Kylie Wilsons” I used my hand to trace around it and then smiled. “Good day, Miss Kylie. “How are you, Lady O?” I gently turned around. Lady O is the family's spokesperson. She oversees every deal concerning the Wilson family, she also works closely with Madam Wilson. “ For your first project,” she placed a load of files on the table and continued. “It is an international deal, and we, Bhutan, and some other companies are bidding on the project. We have been on it for months now; Madam Wilson believes in your judgment, so she wants you to take on it as soon as you resume office,” she explained. “Wow! But it's my first time with things like this. Don't you think I need time to learn how this thing works?” I said. “It isn't your first time Kylie” she smiled She was right, you know. Even though I never worked in the company, I have been able to gather a lot of knowledge from secretly helping Austin. I stayed up at night most of the time to properly work on his proposal without his knowledge, and this made things easy for him. “I trust your judgment.” She smiled and walked away. My first day at work turned out very stressful. I was going from one file to another making different calls. I wasn't ready to fail on my first project, and not after Madam Wilson gave me another chance. “ Youngest CEO in town,” I heard Madam Wilson say as the door opened. I raised my head with a smile on my face “Grandma” Behind her was a tall man who I couldn't see his face, I could only see his properly ironed trousers. His collagen made me want to move closer. “Who is behind?” I couldn't wait for Madam Wilson to continue. “Hey Kylie” The voice alone sent so much joy within me because why won't it? It was the voice of a very special person to me. He gently moved towards me with a smile on his face. Different from when I last saw him, his shoulders were more broad than when I used to lay my head on it. His dirty blonde hair fell on his face, and his blue ocean eyes were bright and beautiful. “Jackson?!” I rushed towards him “How have you been?” Jackson was my childhood friend. We went to the same high school, we mostly did things together. Even while I was out of town for uni, nothing changed. I set the boundaries the moment I got married to Austin. He tried to reach out countless times but I didn't give room for the friendship, throwing away everything we shared. “Good. Congratulations on your new office,” he said, and we hugged very tightly. “I will just leave you two to talk,” Madam Wilson said. I glanced at her, smiled, and then nodded my head. She has always been the best among the best, she knows exactly how to come through for me in difficult times. “ Did you just return to town? ” I dragged his hand and we both sat on the sofa. “For a few weeks now” Jackson was still very quiet. He didn't say too much aside from responding to my questions neither did he ask me anything about my marriage. I know for sure that Madam Wilson must have told him about my divorce, but he'd rather wait till I say something about it. That is who Jackson has always been. “Bhutan bidding on that too?” His eyes caught the files on my desk. “Yeah, that’s my first project.” I took a deep, sharp breath. “I can imagine how exhausting it is” he glanced at me “I could help you know” “Really?!” I asked with a smile at the corner of my eyes. As the only child of the Walter family, Jackson oversees the family business. Jackson has a lot more knowledge and experience on how the business world operates, which is more reason why Madam Wilson loves him around. “Sure…” he grabbed the file and began to go through them one after the other. The atmosphere became quiet as I watched him brainstorm through the files. His long neck, the way his lips moved while he explained. “We have a solution already.” he touched my hand, glanced at me, and our eyes became four. It felt like an electric wave passed through my veins, the time suddenly stopped moving. His stare was so deep, more like he was staring into my soul. Ding! Ding!” I quickly removed my hand. I glanced away as I finally gulped down the saliva stuck in my throat. “Ding! Ding!” It was the office cell phone. I awkwardly walked towards the office desk. I picked up the call and then went quiet. “Ma’am, a man here has refused to leave. I told him you didn't want any more visitors, but he insists he won't leave until he sees you,” one of the office secretaries said from the other side of the phone. “Who is he?- “Austin Nitaile ” she responded. I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath. His sudden clingy attitude was becoming so annoying. He almost blew my phone since my coronation party with calls. “Don't we have security anymore?” “Ma- “Call the security to throw him out!” I slammed the office phone back. “Is everything all right?” Jackson asked, seeing how worked up I was. “ Yea, you are coming to the house, right?” ****†********* “See you in a jiffy,” I texted Mia and drove in a black Ferrari car, my welcoming home gift from Madam Wilson. I rested my arm on the car door driving in a high speedometer. “Is she going to forgive me?” I asked myself, with no one to respond. Mia and I met at the company where I used to work. She became a very good friend, even after I quit all because of my marriage with Austin, she remains the best thing that happened all the years. I felt bad for not telling her about my real identity, I just didn't want any special treatment. I released my arm away from the car window, driving with both hands on the steering wheel. “Kylie!” She called as she saw I was enlightened from the car. “I have missed you so much!” She wrapped her arm around me. It wasn't the expression I was expecting; she was supposed to be mad; I mean, I kept such vital information from her. “Aren't you angry I kept it away from you?” “Why?” She gently unwrapped her arms, smiled, and continued “You have your reasons, all that matters is your happiness and I am glad to finally see you have that “ I held her hand as we both walked into the car. “Wow! I never expected less from the great Wilson. This is outstanding!” She glanced around, admitting the beautiful mansion. I smiled and held her hand “Madam Wilson is waiting inside” “Really” she murmured as we walked inside the house. “My angel!” Madam Wilson hugged Mia ignoring her granddaughter. “Come sit close to me.” She held her hand. I have never seen her in such a welcoming mood. “Okay……” Ignored and walked towards Jackson who seemed distracted since we arrived. “You finally have a new friend?” Jackson whispered in my ear “You think I can't make friends?” I murmured out. “You are not so good at making friends,” he responded, whispering in my ear. “Hun?” My mouth filled with roasted beef “ Remember how you never left my side in high school. Class cast out” “You don't have to remind me,” I responded, and we both smiled. “ Kylie, what did I say about table ethnicity?” Madam Wilson asked. She gently glanced at Mia and continued “Mia my love, do not let Kylie influence you” “Grandma!” I giggled. I felt a glitch in my stomach that wave through it making me want to throw up. My body seems weak, and suddenly my vision seems blurry. I got up and rushed up the stairs inside the bathroom. “Are you feeling okay?” Mia's voice came from behind. She placed her hand on my shoulder. “No” I gently shook my head and continued “Been having morning sickness for a few days now” “Wait” she opened her eyes widely. “Your monthly period?” “Not had it in a few months now.” “And you are comfortable with it?” “Don’t even go there! It's not what you are thinking,” I responded. My heart beating fast. “We will go see the doctor tomorrow morning.” She gently held my arm as she opened the door. “Jackson!” I looked at Mia, then glanced at him “How long have you been here?” “I- just- Are you okay?” his voice breaking, his eyes red. “Yeah- black dots filled my eyes, and everything became blank.Kylie POV My eyes fluttered open. I gently glanced around, and my eyes met with Mia's concerned face. “Kylie! Thank goodness! I was so scared!” She held my hand. “What happened? How long have I been here?”I murmured out, raising my head when Mia supported me up the bed, with a pillow at my back. “You fainted, Kylie, we had to rush you here,” Mia explained. I placed my hand on my forehead, and everything that happened flashed through my head again. “Where is Jackson?” I raised my eyes. “He left not quite long. Work call,” she responded and continued, “How do you feel now?” The door flipped open and the doctor walked in. “Good day, Ms Kylie,” he greeted, slightly bowing his head. “ Zack, what is wrong with me? Am I pregnant?” Zack has been the family Doctor; Madam Wilson trusts him so much that if not for him, no one would handle Wilson's health care.“No” he responded with a smile on his face. “ So what is the issue?” I took a deep breath, realizing it was nothing close to
Austin POV “You made Who? Me?! Get off your high horse, Kylie,” I responded, anger boiling inside of me. The fact that she is trying to change the whole thing, making it seem like she is the one divorcing me, really got on my last nerve. She has no right to be done with me, I am the one who is done with her! “Your time is up. This conversation is over!” “No! I am not done talking to you!” “Kylie! Kylie!” I glanced at my phone “oh shit!” I cursed seeing how she already ended the call. I used my hand to rub my hair backward; there was no way I would agree to her terms. I'm the one who filed for a divorce and I will do it my way. I grabbed my phone, and just when I was about to call Emily, a soft knock came from the door. My secretary Regina rushed in, “ Sir, we have a problem,” she stated. I frowned seeing how her face was all written with urgency, her voice panicking. She hesitated before she continued “ Bhutan canceled all deals with us!” My jaw dropped; the company's most cr
Austin POV I smiled seeing my Ex-wife again. it was my first time seeing her after our last encounter at her appointment party.“Hey, Kylie!” I called out. She gently glanced behind, “You?!” Her face hardened. “Yes, me,” I responded, taking the next empty seat in front of her. With the two glasses of wine in front of her, I could tell she was not alone. “Are you on a date?” I asked, my voice low and I gently rested my back on the couch. “That is none of your business Austin. What do you want?” She inquired, folding her arms together and making a straight face. “I want my lost deal with Bhutan company back!” I commanded, my tone getting serious. “ Your what?- She burst into laughter, making me look like a clown. “Can you even hear yourself? How can you possibly get something that you already “lost?” She responded, emphasize on the word lost. “That is why I'm here. You are the CEO; I know you cancel the deal, and- “I am glad you are aware of that. I am sorry to disappoint
Kylie POV What do you think you're doing?" Jackson held Austin's hand as he was about to hit me.“You were about to hit a woman?" Jackson held Austin's hands as he struggled to let go off his hands. Austin was about to raise his hand on me, thank God this divorce’s motion was already in place, I need to speed up the process and leave him with an ego not up to one.Jackson held Austin and pushed him to the side causing people to turn and look at our direction in alarm and concern.“If only she listened to me and not walked out on me” Austin tried to defend himself."And that gives you a reason to want to hit her?, have you no shame?” Jackson interjected and I stared at Austin in a familiar look."Shame Austin, shame, should we still speak about shame?” I smirked and adjusted my dress, there was a smudge of wine on the corset and it only made me more mad at him.He got the word play and still went on shamelessly, I've never seen him so irritating and I began wondering what attracted m
Austin POV“Arghhhhh" I was filled with fury and thoughts that I had made the wrong move by talking directly to Kylie and not waiting for Francis.“Ah, Mr. Nitaile, always a pleasure to see you,” a voice called out to me from behind the bar.It was the one and only Roman from The Oasis. Roman gathers and collects relaxing vodkas and spirits from around the globe and I'm on his top list of first tastes in the city. One of the reasons I was there that night.“Roman, my guy!" I sluggishly climbed down from the high stool and rigidly and firmly shook his hands. He was slightly taller than I was but that didn't belittle my influence in the Oasis.I was still a Top Dog.“One of new York’s finest, looking sharp, aren't you?”He complimented."I'd hardly say that” Hurrying and leaving Emily at home, I barely had time to refresh myself, looking sharp was the last thing I'd say I was at that point.“You humble, yh?" “That's not it, Roman, that's not" I slightly smiled.“Where's our new product
Kylie’s POVA lot was going on, in my head and in the villa. I stood at the balcony in my room with a million thought running through my head, I was fully dressed for work and deep down I knew the realization of my week’s activity was overwhelming me, but I wouldn’t let it.When I had thrown it all away to be with Austin I had envisioned a lifetime of struggles, yes, but my delusions had also assured me a lifetime of loving and loving. I knew what I got in return and it was….“Miss Kylie?” Someone called out to me, interrupting my self pitying and plotting.I turned around and found the nanny hovering over the entrance, the same one that had been since I was five. It brought back a rush of emotions, some sweet to think of and others, not so great.“Lily?” “Do you want your coffee the usual way?” She asked me, her sweet tone calling for me to run into her hands and remain there just like I used to when my father scolded me.“Black, very black.” I responded, I wasn’t going to be soft
Jackson’s POVI wasn’t a simp, or at least I didn’t think I was. I even had a reputation amongst each enthusiast in the New Jersey community. Jackson Brown wasn’t exactly the definition of lover boy, I showed up to events with everyone’s favorite girl of the moment on my arms but it was always just that.My secretary made sure of that, she said it was for publicity and I allowed her to do what she wanted, hadn’t she been the one to help the company get to the height it was in. I was second guessing my interests in Kylie, it was way too obsessive and every action she made affected my mood. It was one thing to fawn over someone for more than seven years, to feel things she had never imagined herself feeling for you and it was another thing to be so close to her and experience her invest her emotions in the wrong places.I wasn’t being a fool, I had the right to feel things and I also had the right to stay away when I felt my emotions were being too much, when they were taking away m
Kylie POV I was in the office, it's been a very busy week for myself and lady oh. There was an exclusive deal madam Wilson specifically called my attention to and since then it has been work upon work. A slight knock came through from the door, making me raise my head, glancing at the direction. I rolled my eyes “Come in” I responded, knowing fully well it was Lady oh at the door. Nobody gets access to the CEO office aside from the family person assistant, Lady oh. All company complaints are directed to her while she delivers directly to myself or Madam Wilson if necessary. “Ms Kylie” Lady oh voice interrupted the atmosphere as she walked through the door.I took a deep breath. It meant two things seeing Lady oh, work and work. “What is it this time around?” I groaned, my voice sounding so tired. “It's good news this time,” she responded, smiling. “Ehn?” I raised my eyes up, waiting for her response. My heart was beating faster anticipating the information. “Uhm” she murmured
Kylie's POV “Are you Nervous?” Lady Oh asked as she opened the car door. My legs were shaking.I glanced at her, and couldn't say a word. Her face was worn with a worrisome look. “Come here” she cupped me Into her arm, giving me a very comforting hug.I came down from the car, basking in my confidence. Determination was all I felt as I walked into the company conference hall meeting. It would have been a worse situation if any of those shareholders had arrived before me. The conference call we did last night was a mess. More reason why I had organized this emergency meeting. Maybe a physical approach would change the whole thing.Usually, the shareholders arrive before me, but it was the other way around this time. Thirty minutes and none of them had shown up.Panic set into my heart after a whooping two hours, and still, it didn't seem like any one of them would come.I got up from the chair and paced around the room.“Ms Kylie, I don't think any one of them is coming. You should
Emily's POV “What are you doing here?!” He asked, staring at me. “And who is this?” He looked at Peter who was seated in front of me.“You should sit,” I said, smiling stylishly. He never expected to see me. Well, I already had it in my sleeve before reaching out to him. “What is going on here?” He asked again as he settled next to me. “Mr. Natalie, I am glad you honor my calling.” Peter leaned backward. “Emily here reached out to me concerning your company and how the Wilson family has been behind the loss surrounding it,” he explained. Austin glanced at me. “Really?” He scoffed.“Well, I had to do something. I mean, I can't watch you suffer” I responded.“ I don't need you helping me!” He was still being stubborn.“ I have a juicy offer, Mr Natalie,” Peter interrupted the tense atmosphere.“And who are you? You should introduce yourself” Austin glanced at him.Peter smiled. “There is no need for all of that. It's not important,” he responded and continued. “Myself and Emily
Emily's POV The house has been empty since Austin left. I have tried countless times to reach out to him, but he wouldn't pick up my calls, and recently, it seems like he has blocked me. To make matters worse, he banned his secretary from letting me in his company.Well, all of what he has done doesn't bother me one bit. No matter how long it takes him to run, he will come back home to me. I am going nowhere. He belongs to me; the faster he realizes, the better.I decided to have a drink in a quiet bar. Things have been so noisy lately. “As much as I could recall, I'm not in any relationship,” said Austin's voice in my head. I smirked as I recalled the ridiculous mass interview from Austin. He was smart enough to organize such a mass address; that way, Kylie's image could be at the center of it. It became ridiculous the moment he spewed that word out of his gutter mouth. What does he even take me for? “Your drink, ma’am,” the bartender's voice interrupted my thinking. I took a
Kylie’s POV I felt a cold shoulder walking into the office building. The atmosphere seems weird and in a way, I could sense so many eyes on me.“Miss Kylie, You should see this” Lady oh voice came from behind, her shoe clicking with the floor. “Can you just make a quick brief? Too early for chit chatting " I responded, not glancing at her. My steps were heavy, leading my way into the Elevator. She kept quiet, unable to say any more words, and I was wondering why she Suddenly went mute. “I am still waiting to hear it,” I said as I pressed on the first floor. “ Austin Natalie is currently having a live press concerning the ongoing saga” her voice shaking as she barely whispered.“Hun?” I murmured under my breath, my eyes opened in shock. “Let me have it” I grabbed the tablet from her. Austin stood tall in his well-laid suit; in front of him, there were so many cameras from different News stations. “Firstly, I want to thank you all for coming at very short notice. I understand ho
Austin's POV My eyes popped out as I stared at the Economy chat on the television screen. My company stock was dropping right in front of my eyes. Not just that, the red notification at the side corner of the screen kept beeping. It always meant one thing with the red notification, investors are withdrawing their shares. I folded my hands firmly together, I could feel myself burning from the inside. Anger was all that passed through my veins.“Emily! Emily! Emily!” I groaned under my teeth. Everything went wrong the moment she intervened. Maybe I should have handled things my way. At this point, I felt so regretful for relying on Emily trying to protect my company and now I caused my company to drown.“This isn't the time to blame things on Emily,” Francis suddenly said. I glanced at him wondering if he understood what he had just said. It was the company we were talking about. It was obvious everything happened because of Emily's stupid idea of protecting me.“What?!” I murmured o
Austin POV I used to think Emily was the better choice but Nah, she would constantly prove to me that I had made the wrong choice. If not anything, I hate being in the spotlight and if at all I found myself in one, it should be Something worthy. I should be achieving and signing deals which other competitive companies couldn't attain.Seeking the people pity words?! That bullshit. I'm not some weakling who needs validation from people or some sort of pity party in my life. “You better fix it!” I sneered at her. Anger passing through my veins.“That must be a joke, right?” She chulked dryly. I wonder how I suddenly became a joke to Emily. In a way, she stil think she could order me around like she used to do. I have her already and all of that have to stop. I am the man who should make the orders and not the other way round.I closed the gap between us. Raised her jaw up, staring deep into her eyes as I responded.“Don't dare me!” I could see my face in her eyes, burning red.“Oh
Emily's POV. I just couldn't express the joy my heart felt with the recent development. Things were going exactly the way I wanted. Austin does not have to worry about anything that way, we could have enough time to spend together. I knew he loved me. He did not have to tell me, I could tell how much he felt about me. “ You and your family treated him badly! Divorce him and then force him out of the ball party! Humiliating the man! What a drainage family! Austin Natalie needs to be protected at all costs!” The recent headline news slipped off my lips as I opened my phone. I leaned back the chair, a satisfactory smile occupied all over my face. My phone vibrated with the table. “This is great!” I said, still staring at the blogger gist headline. “I am glad you like this,” he responded. “Keep it coming, I am enjoying it” I smiled and ended the call. I have always known myself to be a problem solver. No matter how hard the situation might be, I would turn the table arou
Kylie’s POV “What is this? How did this get out there?” I flipped my phone on the table asking the obvious. “I am sorry ma'am. We are fixing it!” Lady oh voice shaking as she responded. “For how long will it take to fix a common leaked news on the Internet!” I snapped out. At this point I was beginning to act out character. “It not that easy but- “Not easy?!” I interrupted and continued. “No.. lady Oh, this shouldn't be coming from you. You of all people should know how this is going to affect the company” I placed my hand on my forehead. Nothing actually made sense. Only a few people knew I was once married to Austin and I have always been grateful our marriage was never in the spotlight else the divorce would cause a lot of havoc but now, my fear was about to come haunting me.“I am sorry Mrs Kylie” Lady Oh pleaded and in a way it felt annoying and unpleasant in my ear, not even in the middle of such a storm.“Can you just stop apologizing?!” I sneered, anger boiling through m
Jackson’s POV I have never seen something more sanctifying than what Kylie did at that ball party. She handled the whole thing better than I expected. She deserves the position handed to her, nobody could handle such a position better. In a way I felt worried about the pressure that would be on her, nevertheless I was certain she would pull through. I was scared she would flutter when Austin arrived. I knew how much she has been trying not to make things out of proportion. I never thought Austin could be so clueless showing himself at the ball party after everything he put Kylie through.Well, I was glad Kylie had finally put him where he deserves. He had better learn his lesson or else he would be fighting with me next. I figured I have been so quiet all this while and I wasn't ready to keep that way anymore. I thought interfering in Kylie’s personal issues might jeopardize things but I realized I might end up regretting it if I continued that way.As we approached the giant build
