Liliana

My head pounds and my mouth is dryer than the Sahara Desert. I'm feeling disoriented, and when I try opening my eyes, they don't seem to want to cooperate with me.

"Hurry up, she's waking up," a low, raspy voice states.

It sounds a little familiar, but the pressure on my neck has me pushing those thoughts away. I try to move, but I can't pull my hands apart. When I try tugging at them, there's a clinking sound.

Am I handcuffed?

There's cursing and more pressure, but when I move my head, someone holds it in place.

"Don't fucking move, Lily."

No! I do know that voice—it's Heath!

I try screaming, and that's when I realize my mouth is taped shut. Even with my head throbbing, I start to struggle, but then I feel the weight of a body as it straddles my waist. My first thought is the baby, and I still, not wanting anything to happen to him.

"Will you hurry the fuck up already?" Heath barks at whoever he's with.

I hear a loud snap, and then my neck feels bare. They took my collar off.

JarekThe whole estate is in an uproar over Liliana's disappearance, but none are as distraught as I am. My office looks as if thieves have come in and ransacked it—broken glass and furniture litter almost every corner.Every time we get a lead that doesn't pan out, another bout of destruction occurs. I don't know how much more of this I can take before I start hurting people. Lily's friends have steered clear of me, not that I care. The old bat doesn't like me as it is, so I really don't want to keep seeing her glare at me the way she did when she heard about what happened."What the fuck do you mean Lily was taken? She was with you!" she squawked. "Leave it to a Falcon to fuck shit up! You better pray my friend and that babe are found safe…"The woman pretty much threatened me, but I can't blame her—I fucked up. It's been two fucking days—Lily can be anywhere. Make no mistake, I will not stop until I find my pauper and heaven help the motherfucker who took her. If there's the little

LilianaI don't know exactly how long I've been here. I think it's been two, maybe three days at most. There are no windows down here, and I'm always in the dark. The only light I ever see is when Heath brings me my two meals.I sit in the dark, I eat in the dark, and I use the bathroom in the dark, which consists of a five-gallon bucket. I'm left alone, and that's okay because my situation could be worse. There are many things Heath could be doing to me, but he isn't, and for that, I am thankful.I'm just finishing my lunch when I jump at the sound of the door opening. Typically, Heath doesn't come back until supper time. He leaves me my food and takes my lunch tray back upstairs, so his presence this soon after he's brought me my food is alarming."You get to stretch your legs, Princess." Heath stalks toward me, causing me to cower.I don't mean to show him this weakness, but I'm tired and sore and in no condition to fight off any unwanted attention. Heath doesn't touch me, though. H

Liliana"Walk much, Sumner?"Jarek Falcon, the most popular guy in school and my bully, stares down at me, smirking.I'm walking through the hall on my way to fifth-period study hall when he trips me in front of a group of kids. He laughs as I lay face down on the linoleum floor, my books and supplies scattered all around. But Jarek doesn't care; it only makes him laugh harder."I-I'm sorry….""I-I'm sorry," he mimics me in a funny voice intended to make fun of me even more, "You are so pathetic, pauper. Maybe you should do online schooling so you don't have to take up so much space here for the rest of us."Being a foster child and about to age out of the system, the only thing I wanted was to get through my last two years of high school. I was doing reasonably well until Jarek appeared and decided to become my shadow. Only he doesn't disappear on rainy days; he IS my rainy day."Please, stop, Jarek…." I sit here with my eyes closed. Whenever I try picking up my books, another person

JarekI follow Liliana home, taking in the house that her foster parents have. It's not bad, nothing close to being delipidated or anything, which is a shame. I was looking forward to giving her shit about it. I'm running out of reasons to talk to my little pauper.I watch a young boy come toward the house after Liliana has gone in, and I stop him, "Hey, little man, are you Liliana's foster brother?"Maybe in another world, we would be perfect for one another, but not this one. Liliana Sumner was born on the wrong side of the tracks, and unlike me, when she lost her parents, she was put into the foster system; I was sent to live with my uncle and his wife. Sometimes, I wonder if I would have been better off going into the system, but I'm a Falcon, and Falcons always rise above everything and everyone. My life has been anything but rainbows and roses. Being from such an influential family keeps me from anyone or anything less than what we are. My uncle's lectures have been ingrained in

LilianaJarek: Are you finished with my homework yet, little pauper?I roll my eyes, looking at the time. It's just past seven, and Jarek has four assignments for me to do, with one of them being a three-page essay. I'll be lucky if I finish by nine.Me: I'm working on your essay now.Jarek: Don't be rushing through it, pauper. I expect nothing under a B plus. Me: I'm trying my best, Jarek.Jarek: You better get back to work, pauper. You have a long night ahead of you.I toss my phone aside, not bothering to answer him, and I turn my attention to the work. Tears burn behind my lids. Why am I letting him treat me like this? I should go to the principal or the guidance counselor about Jarek's behavior toward me. Unfortunately, his family owns this town, so I doubt anybody will help.I end up doing homework well past midnight, and when I wake up just before my alarm goes off, I find myself still sitting at my desk. Slobber runs from my mouth to my arm, where my head is resting, and I wi

  • The Devil's Heir   Chapter 4

JarekI wanted her. When I had her in that closet, and it was just the two of us, I wanted to take her and make her mine. My pauper should be happy that I used restraint. Next time may not be so lucky for her. Taking her homework was a genius idea because Liliana was all mine for just those few minutes in the closet.I've tried inciting fear into the student body regarding my pauper. She didn't have many friends, if any, beforehand, but students still talked to her, and the guys still drooled when she walked by. Not anymore. It's a dick move, but ask me if I give a fuck.I may not be one of the popular jocks, but being a Falcon puts me at the top and the most popular guy at school. I actually get along with everybody; Liliana Sumner is just special. It's because she's special that I treat her the way I do. I'm driven crazy when she's around, and the fact that I can't have her the way I want has me acting like a madman. It's a new day and I'm just pulling up to my pauper's house when

LilianaThe days are longer now that I have my very own warden. The only time I have to myself are my walks home from school. However, the voice that sounds behind me says it all; I'm not going to have a peaceful walk home today."Hello, pauper.""Jarek.""Are you waiting for anybody in particular?"I sit outside the school after the last bell every day, waiting for all the students to be gone. For the last few weeks, others have been picking on me after seeing Jarek bully me, and they tend to harass me on my walk home. The last person I want to be talking to is the bully who started it all. It's bad enough that I have to ride to school with him, but I treasure my peaceful walks home, and now, he's here. I glance up at him from where I sit in the grass. He's blocking the sun from my eyes, and for just a moment, one could mistake him for an angel."I'm not waiting for anyone," I respond back."You could have fooled me. Nobody just sits by themselves on the grass at school." He studies

JarekThese past few weeks have been both heaven and hell for me. Being so close to my little pauper puts me on cloud nine, and yet, the ache of not being able to have her the way I want is pure torture.Knowing today was Liliana's birthday had me in a good mood. Well, as much of a good mood as my warped mind could muster, but it all took a turn when I approached her by her locker.Liliana running away from me was the last thing I expected, and it pissed me off, so I went after her. However, I've taken it too far this morning. I never intended to see any actual harm come to my pauper. I only wanted to be here when she opened the birthday gift that I got her. Her reaction to the expensive ID bracelet was not what I had expected, and her running away and getting hit by a car wasn't on my list of her reactions either. So, now I sit and wait for her to wake up, but I keep my presence unknown because I don't want to upset her while she's healing. I need her to get better so she can return

JarekWhat a way to rain on my fucking parade. Someone is going to pay dearly for interfering with this special day. As pissed as I am about being interrupted, I can't help the grin that splays across my lips from hearing the good news. We're having a boy."I'm sorry you were called away, Mr. Falcon. I can go back and pick her up once I drop you off," Jackson offers.I wave him off. "I've already contacted Richards to go pick her up. Hopefully, the damage isn't as bad as Lansky made it sound.""Lansky is the one who called you?" Jackson asks, frowning."Yeah, what of it?""Nothing…" he shakes his head. "I just figured it would be someone higher up the ladder."Although Jackson's statement is true, there would be chaos if there were an explosion. The warehouse manager was probably trying to delegate jobs to everyone. I shrug off his words and pull my phone out.A text from Lily tells me that Richards has picked her up, but before I can respond, Jackson curses. I look up and see the des

Liliana"What's wrong?" Joey asks as soon as we walk into the study.I tried to put on a straight face, but apparently, I've failed miserably. Everyone is used to Jarek's broody expression, so I'm sure the question wasn't because of him. Forcing myself to smile, I look up at Jarek, who returns it with one of his own."Nothing is wrong—at least, it isn't anymore." Jarek winks at me before looking at his friend. "Have you seen your fiancé by chance?""Actually, no. She excused herself to use the restroom. I should probably go find her." Joey starts to walk past us, but Jarek grabs his arm, stopping him."I think you and your father should hear what I have to say first." Jarek releases Joey's arm and rests his other arm around my waist."What's going on?" Lonzo furrows his brows."Well, I was just accosted in the bathroom by Gina. That's what's wrong.""Who is Gina?" The confusion on the older man's face makes me want to giggle."It's Gia, for fuck's sake, and are you fucking kidding me

Jarek"So, Mr. Falcon. How long is this drive, anyway?"I watch Lily run her hand up and down her bare thigh as she asks me this in a low, sultry voice. My dick hardens instantly as I watch her hand move the hem of her dress up a little higher each time she brings it back."It's a decent drive. Do you have any ideas about how we can keep ourselves occupied?" I ask, smirking.Looking all innocent, Liliana bats her long, dark lashes at me, replying, "Oh, I can think of a few different things, but what is it that you want to do, Sir?"Jesus, fuck. This woman is going to be the death of me. She has no idea what she does to my insides. I'm a ruthless Mafia Boss, yet I'm liquid in this seductress's presence. After taking in my fill of her, I order, "Straddle my lap, pauper."The spark that lights up her brown eyes makes my cock twitch. She likes being ordered by me—at least, in this instance—and as she swings her leg over my lap, I catch a glimpse of her bare cunt.Taking her hips in my han

LilianaThe days following Jarek's return are a whirlwind. My emotions are all over the place. One minute we're loving up on each other, not being able to get enough of the other, and the next, I'm pissed at him for something he's done, mainly where his work is concerned.I won't deny that I hate who he is, but I knew this coming into my situation, so why am I raising such a fuss over it? I can no longer lie to myself—I'm falling in love with the devil, and it scares the shit out of me."Just calm down, Lily. Is it really all that bad?" Heidi asks as I pace back and forth in their small cottage.Fran went to the Garden center because she's been working on the outside flower beds around the little house. She says it keeps her busy. I'm afraid of what she would say if she knew about my feelings for the Falcon Heir."He kills people, Heidi!""But they're bad men, aren't they?" Her brow raises as she questions me."That's beside the point.""Is it? It seems he's doing some good getting ot

  • The Devil's Heir   Chapter 48

JarekThe sun is going down, and I still have Liliana in my bed. I'm nowhere near being done with her. However, I'm allowing her to rest as I hold her in my arms. Her breaths come out in little whisps through her slightly parted lips as she sleeps. Her hair sticking to her face from sweating after the three rounds we have gone already. I probably should have had her shower, but I'm not ready to have her wash me off her body yet, even if I do plan on marking her again. When I hear her stomach growl, I curse inwardly, forgetting that she hasn't eaten. She must keep her strength up for what I have planned for tonight and for the baby.Reaching over to the nightstand, I grab my phone and text Jackson to bring us some dinner. Then, I snap a few pictures of Liliana sleeping. She looks so peaceful, like a beautiful dark angel. I've never met anyone like her. I'm not sure why I've been so infatuated with Liliana Sumner all these years, but I don't think it's going to change anytime too soon.

  • The Devil's Heir   Chapter 47

LilianaIt's just after two in the afternoon. My friends and I are sitting around the outdoor pool, getting a little sun and chit-chatting when the sliding door opens, and out walks Jarek. My smile is genuine when I see him at first, but then it slowly drops as he stalks toward me.I can't take my eyes off his handsome face and powerful form as he closes in on us, his eyes focused solely on me. I faintly hear Fran saying something sarcastic, but my brain doesn't want to comprehend anything except the devil coming straight for me.Jarek stops in front of me, his dark eyes smoldering as they trace my bikini-clad figure. His voice cuts through the air, deep and commanding, like thunder rolling across the sky. "Excuse us, ladies," he says, his gaze never leaving mine. Lily and I have some catching up to do."He then bends down and scoops me up as if I weigh nothing at all. Turning, he walks back toward the house. I can hear Heidi giggling behind us."What are you doing, Jarek? I thought y
