Chapter One

So, To anyone confused or who doesn't know whats going on, Goodnovel is having issues with FB and Googleplay and as a result, authors are having to modify their work its not pulled from the app. The title has been changed and the words have been ce*cord. It was either this or lose my book. Im sorry with * in the middle of words annoys you, but it's literally out of my control. I hope you can all understand x enjoy!

Chapter One

Alex's Point of view

I walked into Roman's house and stood awkwardly in the hallway while he closed the door behind me. He shoved his hands into his pockets and headed towards the kitchen, I followed, not really sure what else to do. He went straight to the fridge and pulled out a jug of apple juice and then to the cupboard to get two glasses.

He didn't ask me if I wanted one, but since he knew apple juice was my favourite, he knew if he did, I'd say ''yes please''. He poured the drink and passed it over to me.

'Thanks'. I took it off him and sat down at the breakfast bar, and soon enough... There was nothing else to distract himself with and he looked up at me.

'So... how was the trip back from Forks?' I shrugged.

'It was ok, Long.. but it was ok'. Christ, this was like pulling teeth. I opened my mouth to say something but stopped, not sure exactly what to say.

'Well... this is awkward, huh?' He chuckled and so did I, It broke the weirdness a little, which was good.

'We need to talk... About Haley and stuff'. He ''Hmmm''ed and nodded. 'My parents can never find out that you're her dad'.

'Oh, that I fully agree with'.

'You ARE her dad by the way'. He just looked at me like I had two heads. 'What?'

'I know I am. I know you cared about me too much to be messing around with anyone else... right?' I nodded, looking down at my lap, feeling stupid for even bringing it up. 'Well... I mean apart from that girl you liked, but, I don't think she had the equipment to knock you up'.

I couldn't help but burst out laughing at his comment about Abby.

'Oh, she definitely doesn't have the equipment'. I joked back and this time, he chuckled, before taking a sip of his drink.

Ok, that lightened the mood.

'I wanna be in her life, Alex. I missed your whole pregnancy and I've missed her first few days. I don't wanna miss anything else'. I just looked at him, not sure what to say. 'I'm happy to pay you child support'. I shook my head.

'You think that's what this is about? Money?'

'NO!'

'How exactly do we.. you... I explain to my parents why you are involved in their granddaughter's life WITHOUT it being obvious that you are her father, Roman?' He signed, clearly not knowing the answer either.

'You can come back to work at the company. We have childcare, but she'd be with me'. Well... I suppose it was a start...

'It will have to wait a few months. I'm not ready to go back to work yet'. He nodded. 'I'll think about it'.

'It's all I ask'. There was awkward silence again... Hell... there weren't enough words meaning ''Awkward'' to describe this whole situation! 'So.. where is Haley now?'

'Oh, My mum has her, she thinks I'm out meeting my friends.' Again, Silence. 'Which, I probably should do'. I got up, leaving my untouched drink on the side and started making my way to the front door.

'Al? Alex, wait'. I turned around and he came over to me.

'What? Lets both be completely honest, this is weird, it's awkward and concidering how close we once were, this is just f*cking ridiculous!'. I folded my arms, feeling a bit annoyed at him and myself.

'Who was the one who ran away, Alex?!' He snapped. I just huffed and opened the door.

'Whos the one who told me we had no future AFTER I was already pregnant!'. I snapped back. I turned my back on him and walked out;

'I didn't know that then!'. He shouted back, but I ignored him and kept walking. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and sent a message in the group chat.

''You guys free to hang? Meet me at the Mall if you are, Milkshakes on me! Xx''

Before they replied, I looked up and saw my mum standing on the porch with Haley in her arms. Great. Here we go...

I put on a fake smile and walked over to her, praying that she wouldn't ask why I was there, but of course... that would be too easy. She bounced Haley in her arms as she slept.

'Why were you bothering Roman?' If she hadn't asked with a smile, I'd have worried that she was suspicious. I just shrugged and played it off.

'I thought while I had a minute, I'd go and ask about my job. She raised an eyebrow at me. 'Not for now, maybe a few months. It paid well and I could save up and move out.' Maybe it paid so well because I was sleeping with the boss...who knows, but it meant I'd be able to support Haley... Maybe going back to the company wouldn't be so bad after all...

'What about her father?' I froze. What about him?! Seeing my confusion, she continued; 'Well, are you going to go after him for child support?' I shook my head, 'Why not?!'

'He's offered but we don't need his money.' She didn't look impressed, 'What?'

'Just because you're too proud, Don't let Haley suffer'. I just stared at her blankly, blinking a few times.

'It has nothing to do with pride. Haley will never be without and to be honest mum, I don't know what I'm going to do in regards to her father and I don't particularly want to talk about it right now either, so, please... drop it'.

I could tell by the look on her face she wasn't happy but nodded anyway. This WAS my choice, Haley was MINE and just right now, I wasn't ready to open that Pandora-box. She expected what I said. I thanked her just as my phone vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out to check who it was. It was just replied in the group chat. I smiled reading them;

''Hell yeah! If you're buying babe! ;) ''

''I'll be there!''

''See ya soon, girly! Xx''

All but Abby had replied, but that was fine. I wasn't sure what I was expecting with her, we tried to stay friends but I guess... once you had s*x, shit gets weird... Or at least in our situation it did.

'Right well, I gotta head off, you sure you're ok with her?' I asked for what felt like the millionth time. She rolled her eyes and told me to go and have fun. I leaned forward and kissed Haley's head before mum took her back inside. I stole a look over at Roman's house one last time but didn't see him before I headed to the bus stop to go and meet my friends.
