Chapter Eighty-Five

The chamber's environment was engulfed with heavy tension as Clara's words hung within the air. Ethan, Marcus, and the others looked at her with a blend of fear and hope, their hearts beating in harmony with the inauspicious thundering underneath their feet.

Clara stood, clutching her chest where the mark had flared minutes before. The whispering voice echoed in her mind, repeating the cryptic warning: *The darkness can be controlled... but at a price.*

“What did you mean, Clara?” Ethan asked, stepping forward, his eyes searching hers for answers.

Clara’s gaze was distant, as if she were peering into an abyss far deeper than the one before them. “The power inside me... it’s connected to the abyss. I can use it to stop this, but it’s dangerous. I might not make it out alive.”
