Based on my quick observation, the chances of pulling the trigger were inevitable when my wolf sensed there was no sign of doubt on his face. Sleeplessness and Desperation were floating all over the room.
"Chris?" I blurted his name in surprise before he could pull the trigger. "It's me, your boyfriend, Justine." To make him believe that I was telling the truth, I shifted back to my human form. As soon as Christian saw my face, he let go of the rifle and wrapped his arms around me, sobbing. He did not even care if my body was completely naked at that moment. And every fiber of his muscles was trembling in fear. "It's all right, Chris. You're safe now. I'm so sorry if it took me long enough to visit you in your apartment." I caressed his back to help him ease off his restless mind and trembling muscles. "They're all dead, Justine. My entire family was killed by those werewolves." He continued sobbing and tightened the wrap of his arms around me. No words can get back the lives that he lost, so, I simply let him hug me. Two hours later, Christian's trembling arms and legs eased off. He removed his wrap from me and I helped him wipe off the tears that flooded his cheeks. Afterward, he lifted the rifle and slid to the corner of the room. When I got the chance to glimpse the room, I was caught by surprise when everything was a mess. Opened cans of beans, some of them were moistened, several plastics of food packs were scattered all over the place, and a few weapons were on top of the table; rifles, large scissors, bombs, and even gasoline and diesel were present. Right. I told Christian in the past that in case such kind of situation occurred, he must keep something dead to divert our senses. But I did not expect that he would keep a human dead body, pasted poops and dirt on the walls, and soaked the floor with oil. "What happened?" I asked Christian when the color of his skin began to light up. He slid to the main door and pushed it close to make sure no one could find us. As soon as the door was pushed closed, I bolted into the corner and threw up when my stomach soured and bittered right away when all the stinky and rotten smells combined sunk into my system. I could not believe Christian endured the stinky smell for three days in order to hide and survive those werewolves' sharp claws and elongated fangs. My wolf could barely survive living in this place in just an hour. Let alone three days. So I planned to get the hell out of the place before the air in my lungs plunged. "There were hundreds of them. Like you. Never missed any humans they encountered. They ripped off their throats. Cut their arms and legs using those sharp claws and fangs." I can't blame Christian if he was having a hard time explaining the situation to me. But his facial expression was loud and clear. It already told me a lot of things. The city was under attack by werewolves. I'm not even sure if they were rogue wolves or someone's pack. I haven't met one yet. Why? Of all the places in the world, why Spain? "That night when I rushed to my parent's house..." Christian's chin reached the tip of his knees with his arms tightly wrapping them, started trembling. "I saw my Mom and Dad... Their heads were cut off... Justine... Please... Help me." Before he could finish his sentence, I rushed to the corner and wrapped my arms around him. "Hey, it's okay... I'm already here. Don't worry, nothing bad happens to you now that I'm here, okay?" It squeezed my heart so badly to see Christian burst into tears. How I wish I could turn back the time. At least on the first day of the wolf attack. I could have secured Christian and his family in a safer place. "We need to go, Chris. It's not safe here anymore." I reached out to his face and wiped those tears. Then I smiled at him, making him feel secure on my side. He stood up and slid to the table where the weapons were. He put them in one of the backpacks. I also slid to his closet and grabbed some of his clothes. After putting on my naked body with clothes, we went out of the apartment and began our uncertain journey outside. "Where are we going, Justine?" He asked while I was busy scanning the entire parking lot of the building with my werewolf senses heightened. "To a safer place, Chris. Come here." I grabbed his left hand and dragged him to the nearest car. Then, I quickly opened the door and pushed him inside. As soon as we settled in the car, I started the engine and took off. Sad to say, this time, I don't know where to go apart from the village - to the Blue Moon pack. "There is no more safe place in Spain, Justine. Do you recognize them? I mean... You guys are of the same kind, right? Perhaps they might be looking for you." He asked as he fastened his seatbelt. "I don't know yet, Chris. But right now, we have to find the rest of the humans if there are a few who made it out alive. And I'm glad that you are one of those who survived." On the bright side, we are still together even if the world is already in a crisis. Earlier, upon seeing those dead bodies on the ground, I almost gave up I would not see Christian again. Luckily, my wolf never gave up on him. "I followed your advice, Justine. And it worked somehow. I just don't know for how long. For what it's worth, your wolf appeared before anyone else." After a few minutes of traveling the empty streets, we decided to stop by a shopping mall. We need a few stuff to use such as clothes, weapons, and most importantly, food and drinks. Even if werewolf blood runs through my veins, my human body needs to feed human food. I'm not like the rest of the wolves who eat flesh and blood in order to survive. I could barely even remember when was the last time I liked one. As soon as we reached the nearest mall, I parked the car in front of the main entrance of the building. In that way, it will not be hard for us to load whatever we could get from the mall. "Are you ready?" I asked Christian right after surveying the atmosphere. The place was safe when my senses sensed nothing around us. No sign of werewolves or even humans. "Let's get this done, Jus!" Christian reached out to the door and pushed it open, then he hurried to the main entrance of the shopping mall. Then I followed him from behind to make sure my heightened eyes could see everything from afar. While Christian was busy picking everything we needed, my wolf served as the eye and ears of the mission. I'm not picky about what to eat and what to wear. My wolf could even survive being naked for months since it was in my nature. I let him have the time in the world to do the shopping since he can pick up everything without paying a single cent for it. After getting a few brand-new clothes, Christian and I rushed to the grocery store for our daily meals. Food and drinks were the most essential elements to our uncertain journey in searching for possible survivors. I am not even sure if wild animals still exist these days just in case. Meanwhile, while Christian was busy picking some packs of loaf bread and butter, my wolf's senses kicked in, and heard tiny footsteps approaching in our direction. I was about to leap in Christian's direction when two huge terrifying wolves greeted me. One of them, I believed, was an alpha when he had these reddish-brown eyes. Even without letting out a word, their uninviting eyes were telling me that I must not dare step forward or else it's gonna be the end of my life. "Just? Hurry, let's go...!," Christian cut off his words as he let go of his grip on the cart full of food and drinks. The color of his skin paled right away after seeing the two werewolves standing in front of me. Despite the distance between us, my wolf still heard his soft heartbeats. They began pounding, especially when the wolf with blue eyes turned around and growled at him continuously. "Chris, don't move. Let me handle them myself. Just don't move." I cried out as I studied the entire situation as fast as possible. Possible entrance and exit of the place. And the possible calculation for Christian to get out of the store alive. In between us was a cashier's desk. The possibility of not stumbling if I jumped onto the deck was less than ten percent. Before I could step my foot on it, the wolf with the reddish-brown eyes could rip me off. On his right side was a stall. It stood higher compared to the cashier's desk. There was no way his wolf could jump that high. Even my wolf could barely make it. Behind him was even more impossible when it was nothing but a wall. "Just...?" Christian pointed his distressed face in his left corner. I could barely see what was behind it when on my left was nothing but a wall as well. But when I enhanced my werewolf senses to his left side, I realized two other wolves were approaching in his direction. The moment my senses noticed the wolves were already lifting their feet at the speed of light, I shifted into a wolf and jumped as high as I could in Christian's direction. Sadly, the wolf with a reddish-brown eye bumped into my body which resulted in me stumbling to the ground several times. As I was about to flash in his direction, my eyes did not see Christian from his spot anymore. When I dragged my gaze underneath the cashier's desk, there, right in front of my eyes, his body plummeted with fresh drops of blood that flooded the tiled floor. I was about to flash into his direction but the wolf with reddish-brown eyes blocked me. "Don't waste your time on that human," he said. "He is going to die in an hour or two. Come with us and be part of our pack. You've been a lone wolf for a long time, Griffin." The balls of my eyes remained wide open in disbelief when he breathed out my wolf's name loud and clear. Not even Christian knew that name existed. Before a single word came out of my mouth, I studied the man from head to toe. I kept digging in all corners of my brain to check whether my wolf already met him or not. No matter how hard I attempted to remember anything about the wolf, nothing came out of my mind. But one thing was for certain, his werewolf scent did not come from the Blue Moon Pack. "Who the hell are you?" I cleared my throat to hide the trembling of my mouth. "And how did you know my name?"The alpha wolf and his pack members exchanged profound glances. And I somehow find it hard to read what was running through their minds when most of my werewolf abilities had gone dormant. My anger and resentment began to burst out when the wolf who dared lay his claws at Christian finally showed up. I smelled Chistian's blood in his claws. A part of me wanted to charge at the wolf when Christian did nothing to them, yet he still attacked him without any signs of hesitation. However, my only option in my case was to wait for them to evacuate the mall. Lashing out my anger and resentment toward him would only put me in a tough spot. My wolf was apparently outnumbered, let alone, they had an alpha with them. I don't stand a chance against him. I believed even miracles would not take my side once I insisted on battling with them. At that time, Christian's survival was my top priority. He needed to survive by all means. I needed him. "You don't need to know about everything for now,
My wolf felt at ease after confirming no one was wandering within the range of my senses around half a kilometer in all directions. I sensed a few human and animal bodies but, I believed, they were all dead. For me and considering Christian's sensitive condition, that case would be a good thing. Those bodies' rotten smell helped and prohibited those werewolves from attacking us or from getting closer to the abandoned house. As long as I remained human, I believed, our chances of survival could be possible compared to my werewolf form. Nothing can disrupt Christian's transformation if given the chance the alpha wolf was right about the rumor. My conscience hoped it would work because I could not live without a Christian in my life. Justine's POV There was this old aphorism from the human world that says, "A kiss is believed to be the best medicine" the world could offer. Most humans believe that even a single kiss could swallow darkness with light, change sadness to happiness, a remedy to all kinds of sicknesses, and most of all, this privilege is free of charge. Sad to say, all of those privileges prohibit me by all means when I freaking believed that my lips were cursed by the moon goddess as it could darken the light, turn everyone's happiness to madness, and worsen all kinds of illnesses. The worst part of my case was that I could not risk offering someone a single kiss. "What?" Christian frowned. "But I thought you were aware that we kissed and had sex that night. Justine? A part of me wanted to punch you in the face for once because of what you did.
