Sharon’s smile remained kind as she explained, “The Golden City is a place where the boundaries between reality and magic are blurred. It has a way of drawing people who are connected to its essence, to its history.”

I shook my head, feeling a mixture of disbelief and confusion. “But I do not understand how I could be connected to this place. I am just an ordinary person from a different world.”

She leaned in, her eyes locking onto mine. “Sometimes, destiny has a way of weaving threads that we can not fully comprehend. You may not remember it now, but you have a part to play here, a role that only you can fulfill.”

My heart raced, skepticism warring with a faint spark of hope. “You are saying I am meant to be here?”

Sharon nodded. “Yes, Megan. There is a reason you were drawn to this city, even if you can not remember it. The memories will come back to you in time.”
