Zora’s point of view After Derrick and I were done talking. I laughed out a little and shook my head. I really can’t believe this guy, he is married and he still wants to hang out with me, what happened to his wife? I shook my head and dropped my phone on the couch and continued watching my movie and munching my popcorn. As much as I decided to run sales with his company, we can’t be going out, why would I want to go out with a married man. I rolled my eyes. “Mummy what’s wrong?” I totally forgot Ariana was also in the living room with me and instead of watching the television, Ariana’s attention was built on me. “My love, mummy is fine, some thoughts were just running through my head.” I explained. “Sorry about that.” She said and looked at the television. And I smiled at her before looking at the screen. The next day Austin came over to the house with lots of gifts for everyone and we decided to decorate the house and also got a Christmas tree. We all made the house look s
Zora’s point of viewI paused for a while and was in total shock, I wasn’t expecting this so soon. This act dragged everyone's attention, waiting for an answer from me. I didn’t want to look at Derrick’s direction. “Yes, yes, I’ll marry you?” There was no other word than yes, I laughed softly. Smiles all over Austin’s face as he pushed the ring into my finger and stood up immediately and kissed me. Everyone in the restaurant applauded. And suddenly Derrick walked away and I heard Mia shout his name continuously. “Thank you so much, Zora.” He said and kissed my cheek. “I have waited for this ever since and I am more glad I was proposed here.” I said with a smile on my face, Derrick really thought I was joking when I said to him that I have a man. “Congratulations, Zora, I have heard a lot about you…. I am Mrs Derrick….Derrick’s wife.” She stretched forward her hand for a handshake. And why is she so being so specific that she is Derrick’s wife. “Alright, thank you, Mrs Derrick.
Derrick’s point of view My heart leapt to my throat when our gaze met. Immediately I saw her, my heart stopped for a while, I was surprised and suddenly I saw a man who walked in with her and it made me frown slightly. She took her eyes off of me immediately. Zora is the most beautiful woman present in the restaurant. Her dress fitted her so well that it made me fall so hard. Zora is indeed a goddess if I must say. “Well, well, well, look who we have here.” Mia smirked and looked at me. “That’s your ex wife with maybe her husband.” She shrugged a little.“She looks so breathtaking if I must say.” Lee also admired the way she dressed. “We aren’t talking about beauty here.” Mia frowned. I looked back at her as she and her whosoever boyfriend sat. “You need to stop looking in that direction, Derrick.” Mia placed her hand on my chin and dragg my face away to her directly and I suddenly pushed her hand away. “Stop that, I will look wherever I want too.” I glared at her. We were s
Chapter 32Zora’s point of view“Your parents want to see Ariana and I?” My eyes popped open as I asked. Immediately I remembered his mother, she doesn’t like me a bit. “Yes, you don’t want that? It’s just for a couple of days and maybe celebrate the new year with them and be back.” He said and I gulped and breathed down softly. “That would be fun.” I laughed awkwardly, I know his parents so well but his mother doesn’t really like me and to add to it, I am a divorcee with a child. Will she accept me? “You have nothing to worry about, okay? I’ll be right there beside you.” Austin reassured me and smiled and I smiled back and felt a little ease. The Christmas party was over and Austin left after saying he will be back by 10am so we can start our journey to his parents place. The thoughts of facing his mother once again filled me with a huge feeling of unease and discomfort. But I will have to subdue those feelings and go, I am getting married into that family so I have to be more
Chapter33Zora’s point of viewThe day to leave has finally arrived, we were all having breakfast before we packed our things to leave but Austin’s mother wasn’t present till we were about to finish breakfast.“Austin, what about your mother, isn’t she coming for breakfast?” I asked Austin but he just shrugged his shoulders and said.“Maybe she is still asleep or she is angry we are leaving today.” He answered and dug more of his food into his mouth. We were finally done and she still hasn’t shown up yet.“Father, what about your wife, isn’t she going to eat breakfast?” Austin asked his father also doesn’t know what is actually keeping her from coming downstairs. We all decided to go to her room to check up on her, we found her shivering immensely.“Mother, what's wrong with you?” Austin rushed to her and checked out her temperature but was on a temperature.Immediately I knew something fishing was going on.“I think I’ll call the doctor to know what’s actually wrong with you.” Austin
Chapter 34Zora’s point of view I was glad he showed up to pick me up because this street is so lonely at night. We didn’t talk at all, the silence was a comfortable one though, my eyes were fixed outside the view as he drove. The thoughts when Austin proposed to me flew back into my head, I wondered how he would feel that day. Or maybe he might not have felt a thing, he was with his wife so probably he wasn’t even feeling anything. But when he walked out looking infuriated, that is the part that gets me confused. “Aww.” Immediately I saw the festival going on, it was the floating lantern, to make a wish. It happens every last day of the year. Immediately Derrick pulled over and I looked at him. “Let’s go make a wish.” He uttered and I laughed softly. I wanted to go so badly that I couldn’t say no. I missed last year’s festival, so now I have the opportunity. I wouldn’t want to miss this year’s. We stepped out of the car, moving to the bustling arena. So many people were gathe
Chapter 35Zora’s point of view Shit!! The place we were was even more cold that the place we sat. I think we went deeper instead of finding out way out. “Zora, let's pass that door before it closes quickly.” Derrick shouted, still holding my hand, we ran past the door and noticed we were in a warmer place but it might get cold in no time. I think when the power is restored the doors automatically close. It looked like the place we were before. “I think this place is much better.” Derrick said with a little relief. “But we are still in the cold room, I can’t stay in here for too long.” I looked so worried than ever. “We will get out of this place, alive nothing will happen, okay?” He assured me and I nodded. I looked through my phone but it’s even worse, the network that was unstable before has finally vanished entirely. “I can’t even call anyone, the network is so horrible.” I lamented. “There is no need to try, there isn’t always a network in a cold room.” Derrick answered
Chapter 36Derrick’s point of view I thanked her as she walked into my car and then I drove out. She looked out the window, couple of times and it gave me the privilege to gaze at her. I noticed how happy she was staring at the people with floating lanterns. It was a festive night, to make a wish. I haven’t attended one before and I heard whatever your wish is it will surely come to pass. So I said to myself, why shouldn’t I give it a try and also watching Zora’s attitude made me believe she also wants to go. So I packed at a safer place and she suddenly turned and looked at me. “Let’s go make a wish.” I smiled at her and she chuckled softly. Luckily she agreed and we both headed out to the booming area and I went to pick up two floating lanterns to make a wish with and gave one to Zora. We made our wish and finally let go of the lantern. It looked so beautiful in the sky and immediately I turned and looked at Zora. She smiled so dearly as she looked at the sky, I have never s
