Chapter33Zora’s point of viewThe day to leave has finally arrived, we were all having breakfast before we packed our things to leave but Austin’s mother wasn’t present till we were about to finish breakfast.“Austin, what about your mother, isn’t she coming for breakfast?” I asked Austin but he just shrugged his shoulders and said.“Maybe she is still asleep or she is angry we are leaving today.” He answered and dug more of his food into his mouth. We were finally done and she still hasn’t shown up yet.“Father, what about your wife, isn’t she going to eat breakfast?” Austin asked his father also doesn’t know what is actually keeping her from coming downstairs. We all decided to go to her room to check up on her, we found her shivering immensely.“Mother, what's wrong with you?” Austin rushed to her and checked out her temperature but was on a temperature.Immediately I knew something fishing was going on.“I think I’ll call the doctor to know what’s actually wrong with you.” Austin
Chapter 34Zora’s point of view I was glad he showed up to pick me up because this street is so lonely at night. We didn’t talk at all, the silence was a comfortable one though, my eyes were fixed outside the view as he drove. The thoughts when Austin proposed to me flew back into my head, I wondered how he would feel that day. Or maybe he might not have felt a thing, he was with his wife so probably he wasn’t even feeling anything. But when he walked out looking infuriated, that is the part that gets me confused. “Aww.” Immediately I saw the festival going on, it was the floating lantern, to make a wish. It happens every last day of the year. Immediately Derrick pulled over and I looked at him. “Let’s go make a wish.” He uttered and I laughed softly. I wanted to go so badly that I couldn’t say no. I missed last year’s festival, so now I have the opportunity. I wouldn’t want to miss this year’s. We stepped out of the car, moving to the bustling arena. So many people were gathe
Chapter 35Zora’s point of view Shit!! The place we were was even more cold that the place we sat. I think we went deeper instead of finding out way out. “Zora, let's pass that door before it closes quickly.” Derrick shouted, still holding my hand, we ran past the door and noticed we were in a warmer place but it might get cold in no time. I think when the power is restored the doors automatically close. It looked like the place we were before. “I think this place is much better.” Derrick said with a little relief. “But we are still in the cold room, I can’t stay in here for too long.” I looked so worried than ever. “We will get out of this place, alive nothing will happen, okay?” He assured me and I nodded. I looked through my phone but it’s even worse, the network that was unstable before has finally vanished entirely. “I can’t even call anyone, the network is so horrible.” I lamented. “There is no need to try, there isn’t always a network in a cold room.” Derrick answered
Chapter 36Derrick’s point of view I thanked her as she walked into my car and then I drove out. She looked out the window, couple of times and it gave me the privilege to gaze at her. I noticed how happy she was staring at the people with floating lanterns. It was a festive night, to make a wish. I haven’t attended one before and I heard whatever your wish is it will surely come to pass. So I said to myself, why shouldn’t I give it a try and also watching Zora’s attitude made me believe she also wants to go. So I packed at a safer place and she suddenly turned and looked at me. “Let’s go make a wish.” I smiled at her and she chuckled softly. Luckily she agreed and we both headed out to the booming area and I went to pick up two floating lanterns to make a wish with and gave one to Zora. We made our wish and finally let go of the lantern. It looked so beautiful in the sky and immediately I turned and looked at Zora. She smiled so dearly as she looked at the sky, I have never s
Chapter 37Derrick’s point of view “Please, you need to calm down, Mr.” Lee said. And he forcefully took his hand off me, I didn’t utter any word rather stare at him. “Just pray nothing goes wrong!” He pointed at me as he spoke and walked out. I sat there and watched him leave without uttering a word. Is this the guy Zora wants to spend her entire life with? I hope he doesn’t make her life a living hell again. “Why is he so furious, he should be grateful you saved her life, why would he be threatening you that way?” Lee spoke in an annoyed voice. “It’s alright, I wouldn’t blame him though…. I am just worried about Zora’s health, I pray she gets better quickly.” I said and closed my eyes. It felt like my eyes were spinning. I heard a knock on the door and Zora’s secretary walked in. “Sophia.” Lee whispered, I looked at him and looked back at Sophia. She greeted us both. “How are you feeling now, Mr Derrick?” She asked me and I nodded and smiled. “I am getting better.” I answ
Chapter 38Derrick’s point of view “But we ran the DNA tests and the doctor confirmed that I am the father of the child,” I said and he immediately bobbed his head. “Mia was the one who took you to that particular hospital right?” He asked and that is true, she was the one who took me to the hospital herself for the tests.“You can just take her unaware, take her to the hospital, and make sure you don’t leave her…. Who knows, maybe she bribed the doctors to tell you that.” He shrugged his shoulders while speaking, and still, he was making a lot of sense “I have also thought about that but I wasn't so sure Mia would do such a thing,” I answered. “There is absolutely nothing Mia can’t do, you need to find out quickly, to be on a safer side.” He suggested and I shook my head slowly. Lee left after a work emergency arose. I am so glad that my company is finally standing properly with the help of Zora. No matter how angry she is about me, I am still super happy and proud of her. That
Chapter 39Derrick’s point of view We left and I was hoping for the result to come out soon. Mia looked so angry, we actually didn’t say a word till we got to a particular area. “Drop me here, I'll be fine.” She uttered, looking outside the window. “Why? I'll drop you at home”“Please, Derrick, I need fresh air, I'll call the guards to come to pick me up later.” she wasn't in a good mood and I didn't want any arguments as to why she wanted to come down here.“Alright, if that's what you want.” I said and pulled over. I dropped her off and drove away. What if she is really carrying my child or did I go too hard on her? Mia makes it hard to believe. I went straight to the office. Lee came into my office shortly. We had a meeting with a company. I was not so ready yet, so many things on my mind. I left my office to attend to them properly and when the meeting was finally done. I went back to my office and Lee joined me in. I let out a deep breath as I sat on my couch in the off
Chapter 40Derrick’s point of view Immediately the doctor said that I stepped back in disbelief. “So doctor are you saying, she isn't pregnant no miscarrage no nothing?” I still couldn't believe it. “There is no such thing like that in your wife's stomach, I am sorry Mr Derrick.” The doctor patted my shoulder and left. I walked back slowly and sat on the chair. Mia did this? Mia lied to me? Why would she have done that? I had high hopes for this pregnancy, even if I didn't love Mia, I was ready to keep her and the child and she did this to me? Why?I felt so much pain. I wasn't expecting her to go this far. Mia has crossed the line this time, she has done enough, and she has deceived me for over three months now. I looked like a joke to her. How ludicrous of me to think she was pregnant when we hadn't had sex for a while. I should have investigated properly. My first was tightly clenched. I looked so enraged. She has done enough now it's time for her to leave. It's better I ju
Chapter 99Derrick’s point of view I woke up in a hospital, and I found a nurse close to me. “Mr Derrick, you are finally awake, um, sit back I'll go call the doctor, okay?” She said and hurriedly ran out of the room. I felt a sting pain in my back, for how long have I been in bed? With the reaction on her face, it probably might have been a long time. All I remember was how I got shot. After a few minutes, the doctor walked in, with so much surprise on his face. “Finally, Mr Derrick, you're awake.” He smiled and did a little check-up on me. “Doctor for how long have I been unconscious?” I asked him. “For over a week and a few days.” He replied, I was so shocked, suddenly I remembered how I got shot. “Ana!” I held the Doctor’s hand immediately as I remembered I was with her. “They haven't come yet, she will probably come later.” He said and I slowly let go of his hand. That means she is safe. How did I get here, who helped us out of there?“Doctor, is there anyone around a
Chapter 98Zora’s point of view “What hospital?” My voice sounded so faint. “Let’s go there now,” Stacy said and we got into the car and she drove away. Finally, we got to the hospital and rushed in and I was taken to the room Ana was in. “Mummy.” She stood up from her bed and rushed to me and I squatted and hugged her so tightly, kissing her forehead passionately. “My Ana, my baby.” Tears left my eyes as she was brought back to me safely. “How are you, my child? Were you hurt anywhere?” I asked her, looking all over her body. “I’m fine, Mum, Daddy made sure of that, but I’m scared, is Daddy still alive, he was shot by those evil men.” She cried out and I cleaned the tears from her eyes. “Daddy, will be alright, nothing will happen to him, okay?” I tried to encourage her but I also was scared of losing him. I met with Lee and Collin. “Zora, how have you been? I hope Austin didn't hurt you?” Lee asked and shook my head.“He didn't,” I said, but it felt like it was so hard for
Chapter 97Zora’s point of view “Drive safely, sweetie.” He said after letting me go outside his house, I managed to walk into my car, like that way the first day I learned how to walk. When I finally got in, I cried so badly, there was no hope, no one to run to, how could I get out of the mess, I'd have to do what he said or else my family would be ruined. I cried till I couldn't cry more and I finally drove out heading to my house. I got home and found Stacy and Sophia in the living room, immediately Stacy saw me she rushed to me and hugged me tightly. “I know it's hard for you right now but you need to be strong.” She spoke as she finally let go of me and cleaned my eyes. “Mrs Zora.” Sophia looked so worried and she hugged me too and finally let go. They took me to the nearest couch and I sat.“I'm glad you are back home safely, I hope he didn't do anything to you?” Sophia asked me. “Austin has really brought distress to my life, now he insists on getting married to him tomo
Chapter 96Zora’s point of view “What do you mean Ana has been kidnapped?” I couldn't feel my legs anymore after hearing that, immediately I fell to the ground as she explained to me what happened. “Austin! Austin has done enough!” I shouted and most of my staff, including the people in the conference hall all came out. “Mrs Zora, what's wrong? What happened?” Sophia rushed to me while I kept on crying. “My daughter, Austin, has taken my daughter away from me.” I shouldn't sit back and cry, I suddenly cleaned my eyes, and Sophia exclaimed as she heard me say that. “Sophia, we aren't having the meeting anymore.” I stood up from the ground and left for my office to take a few things before leaving. Austin can’t just plug off my eyes and go scot-free. Getting close to my office I noticed Sophia was behind me saying a few things which I wasn't paying attention to. “Mrs. Zora, we need to Inform, Derrick about this.” Sophia suddenly suggested I look up to her. “It's not everything
Chapter 95Derrick’s point of view Immediately I woke up from that terrible dream. I hope Ana is safe, quickly I took my phone and called Zora and hearing from the way she spoke there was nothing wrong but still I asked her about Ana and I found out that she was on her way to pick her up. I begged her to drive safely and revealed to her the dream I just had and immediately she freaked out. “Zora, listen, you need to drive safely, Ana will be right there waiting for you to come to pick her up,” I said to her and she managed to calm herself down. “Alright, I’ll talk to you later,” I said and we hung up, that was the mistake I made, I shouldn’t have told her about the dream, I just hoped she drove safely. I told Stacy and Collin about the dream I had about Ana. “Don't you think Austin is planning on doing it?” Stacy said and Collin agreed with her. “I don't think so, what would be his gain if does that? After all, Zora wants to play along by accepting to marry him so he wouldn'
Chapter 94Zora’s point of view “What do you mean by that?” I asked him as he spoke so rudely and I noticed how he paused for a while. “Zora, do not make me do something silly, you can’t ruin my plans now, you will have to obey me, we are having this wedding on the day we have both planned it.” His voice was so cold and fierce. “Are you forcing me to do what I don't want, that's never happening, Austin…” He abruptly hung up the call when I was still talking. What kind of man is this? He was never like this, what made him change? He would not do anything stupid he can not try it. I dropped down my phone and continued with my work. During lunchtime I left the office and went over to where Mia was kept, although I told Derrick I'd be going there, he wanted to come with me but I declined, I wanted to face her alone. Getting there I was told she had a visitor already, I was quite surprised, so I waited. After a while, I saw Austin heading out. “Austin?” So he was the visitor the
Chapter 93Zora’s point of view “Zora, listen, you need to drive safely, Ana will be right there waiting for you to come pick her up.” He encouraged me and I took it in and calmed myself down. “Are you close to her school already?” He asked me. “Yes I am, I'll call you later, okay?” I said, I just wanted to think straight. “Yes, when you pick her up and get home let me know, okay?” He spoke, he also sounded worried but he didn't want it to be so obvious. “Alright, I will,” I said and he disconnected. I gulped down and tried my best to concentrate on driving, finally I got to her school. “Where is Ana?” I met her teacher and she directed me to where they were kept. From afar I saw Ana talking and laughing with her friends and my mind was finally calm, I could finally breathe properly through my nostrils. “Ana?” I called her and she left them and ran up to me. “Mummy, you came to take me home, it's been a while since you did that, I'm so happy seeing you here.” She laughed and I
Chapter 92Zora’s point of view Derrick left after having dinner with Ana and me. I noticed how Ana looked so happy around him, more than Austin and I'm so glad about it. “Mummy I'd be the happiest if Daddy comes to stay with us, we will finally be complete,” Ana said as Derrick drove out, her attention was still built on Derrick’s car as she spoke with so much plaster of smile on her face. “He can't stay with us, Ana.” I laughed and shook my head as we walked in. “Why can’t he?” Ana asked with a frown face. “You'll know soon, okay.” I kissed her cheek as we sat on the couch. Surprisingly she didn't pester me much about the question, after a while she slept off and I took her to her room and laid her properly on the bed. The next day I got a call from Austin. “Hey babe, good morning.” He sounded calm and immediately I wondered what he wanted to say. Whenever he sounds that way, it’s either he has a favor to ask or something else that would be of benefit to him. “Hey, is every
Chapter 91Zora’s point of view “Zora, what are you saying? I love you both so much and I want to be a good husband to you and a good father to Ana.” He spoke like he meant whatever he said, which I know is totally a lie. “It's fine, I feel better hearing that.” I lied and formed a smile and he hugged me. “I want the best for us Zora, please I want you to stay away from Derrick, I don't want him to harm you or Ana, try to avoid him in any way you can, okay?” He spoke slowly with a feathery voice and he rubbed my hair slowly as he spoke. I pulled out of the hug and just nodded. “You also need to be careful, your life might also be in danger,” I said to him and he furrowed. “Mine isn't so important, you and Ana’s life is, so try to watch out, if anything happens don't forget to call me.” He spoke and I nodded once. “And about Ana, I asked Mary about her and she told me Ana is sleeping, it seems like she has been detouring away from me these past few days.” He uttered, looking a l
