Chapter 1 Escape

“I have had enough. I will say it one last time, you are forbidden to leave me. You are mine, Amelia, and nothing can change that!” A roaring voice boomed in the room, making the windows vibrate with the pressure.

“Mr. Kieth Williams, then why don’t you break off your engagement? You promise, and I will stay. You don’t, and I leave. I believe my words are clear enough!” In contrast to the raging voice of the man, her calm voice gently filled every corner of the room.

“Do you think you are in a position to negotiate with me?” He smirked while speaking. Kieth Williams did not like to be questioned, threatened, or be at the losing end. But this woman managed to push all three buttons at the same time.

“I am leaving Kieth. You had your chance, but you ruined it. Don’t blame me.” Amelia dejectedly said. She was sad. Sad at the fact that this man did not put her in his eyes. Sad at the conclusion that she had fallen to such a level where she let him trample on her dignity. But enough was enough. No more.

“Looks like you no longer need the medical supplies.” Kieth looked at her with alertness. His eyes were on her for the entire time. Ready to subdue her, if she made any unnecessary attempts at leaving him.

“Hah! The medical supplies? Yes, I don’t need them anymore. You can keep your damned supplies to yourself!” She was already at her limits now. Her clan members had urged her a lot of times to leave this man after they had received enough supplies, but she resolutely declined.

Why? Because she was living in an illusion. She believed that she could stay like this forever. By his side, without any troubles. But reality jolted her awake.

She was already depressed after receiving the troublesome news from her hometown, and then she heard of his engagement! She could have ignored it, but Lady Amanda, his rumored partner showed up and smacked her with a cold hard proof. The evidence was like a slap to her. It was like the last jab that broke her illusion.

She no longer had the time to linger. She could not afford to dabble in illusions. Her people needed her.

“Does not matter. The contract explicitly states that you get the medical supplies, and I get you. The contract is not over till I say so. You should be aware of the consequences of breaking the contract.” Kieth ruthlessly reminded her of the paper that had tied her to him.

“Liquified damages, blacklisted from the companies, and unable to find a job. Is there anything else that I should be aware of?” She tilted her head and asked him knowingly. Only a human would think that such shallow conditions could bind her.

Kieth panicked inside, but outside, he remained deadpanned.

“And being on my bad side. Do you think you could afford that? Stop offending me. I can ruin your life with a snap of my fingers.” Kieth tried his best to dissuade her from leaving him.

“Oh! I guess you forgot one thing. You have already ruined my life.” Amelia gritted her teeth as she spoke. It was the ultimate truth. Having a scumbag as a mate was her worst nightmare.

Kieth pursed his lips as he stared at her silently. Her eyes, which used to glow while looking at him, were so dull today. Instead, her eyes were filled with something else.

Was it loathing? Hatred? Sadness? Kieth could not pinpoint it, but whatever it was, it was very unsettling. He hated seeing that look in her eyes.

“Stop being stubborn. Even if you don’t need the supplies, the contract still stands. You are mine. You sold yourself off to me in exchange for those supplies! Your brother is still in a critical condition. Do you think you can risk his life?” Kieth poked at her sore spot.

He knew how much she liked her brother. He knew he was taking advantage of her. But at this point, he had no other better idea to make her stay. He had to make her stay, by hook or by crook.

Thinking of her brother, her eyes trembled a little. She wondered how he was. Had he woken up? Was he doing okay?

Sensing the change in her emotions, Kieth’s tensed nerves relaxed. Looks like he would have to hold onto her half dead brother to keep her in his palms.

While she was distracted, he closed the distance and kissed her forehead. His touch jolted her awake from her concerns. Her eyes widened with surprise. They had been together for six months by now. But every time he touched or kissed her, she could feel the same electric shock she felt at their first time.

Kieth felt satisfied with her response. It’s like he still had a chance. As long as she does not push him away, everything could be fixed.

“Be a good girl and wait for me.” He softly whispered in her ears.

This time, Amelia did not respond. Instead, she kept staring at him. She stared at his face till she had etched his every feature in her mind. In her silent eyes, complex emotions swirled and brewed.

He took her silence as affirmation and left in a hurry. He had to deal with the crisis as soon as possible. He would let everyone know that his name could not be used carelessly. He would make them pay dearly. A ruthless glint shone in his eyes as he thought of the troublemakers.

When he was working overtime in his office, trying to deal with the mess of his engagement, he received a call.

“Sir, Ma’am has escaped.”
