Chapter 2 Message

A deafening silence enveloped Kieth. It took him a few seconds to regain his composure.

“Report properly.” He spoke viciously.

“Sorry, Sir. As per instructions, we went to deliver the ‘One Love’ to the house. But when we reached, everyone was asleep. We checked Ma’am’s room, and there was nobody in it.” The subordinate chronologically reported.

“What about the surveillance?” Kieth’s voice was dripping with anger.

“Sir, the footage is damaged.” The subordinate responded in a small voice.

“Inform the police. I need her back. Either you find her, or you die. The choice is yours.” Kieth uttered and threw the office phone on the floor in agitation.

Listening to the loud noise, his staff went still. Sweat covered their forehead. They simultaneously prayed that the demon would not call them. Appearing in front of him at such a time was equivalent to digging their own graves!

Maybe God heard them because they found the demon leaving in a hurry. Only after his silhouette was out of sight did the office workers release the breath they were unconsciously holding.

Kieth had only one destination in mind. He threw the driver off and drove at the highest speed to the hospital.

He did not know if it was Amelia who left on her own accord or if she was kidnapped. There was only one link to check that. And that was her half dead brother, Steven.

Kieth’s face was as dark as ink by now. He honked, switched lanes, and drove as fast as possible to the hospital. Once in the hospital, he went straight to the VIP area with quick steps.

Opening the door, he found an empty bed. No traces of anybody ever lying on it could be found.

The doctors appeared when they heard that Kieth Williams, the owner himself had come. Kieth turned around and looked at the doctors. Being stared at like prey, they trembled unconsciously.

“Where is the man who stayed here?” He asked fervently. With every passing second, it was becoming harder for him to reign his irritation.

“Sir, he…he…” The doctor faltered at the coldness Kieth was radiating at this time.

“You are fired.” He spoke word by word and stared at another doctor standing next to him.

The one who got fired, paled in response. But somebody was paler than him, the one being stared at! Goosebumps came out, and sweat started tricking down his back. The pressure this man gave off was hard to bear.

The one being stared at lowered his face, closed his eyes, and spoke in one breath.

“The patient was discharged this morning. We received Ma’am’s call to let him go.”

A flash of understanding crossed Kieth’s mind. He walked away leaving the trembling doctors behind.

He dialed a number as he walked steadily.

“I want her current location. Send an alert to all the hospitals. Her brother is weak and cannot survive without medical attention.” Kieth spoke and cut the call without listening to the other side.

He hurried to the parking area and sat in his car. His hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly that blue veins started appearing on his hands. His eyes became bloodshot.

He was at the edge of losing hold of his sanity. He wondered how should he punish her. Should he tie her to the bed? Drug her? Cage her? Or should he make her unable to leave the bed? She was just an ordinary girl. How dare she leave him?

A chime sounded in the car. He checked the notification. It was an address. He drove straight to the area. Soon, he found himself standing in front of her apartment.

It was the place where she used to stay before moving in with him. The rows of bodyguards covering the corridor waited for his instructions.

“Break it.” Kieth raspily said.

The bodyguards acted nimbly, breaking the lock on the door. With a click the door opened.

Kieth entered alone. This was his first time entering her flat. But as soon as he entered he found something wrong. The flat had no traces of life. It had everything peculiarly placed, just like a room in a showroom.

He went to the rooms, except for the beds, the rooms were bare. He could not find any clothes, photos, or any other traces of somebody ever living in it.

His eyebrows furrowed with annoyance. He was in the middle of leaving when he heard a beep. He squinted his eyes and found a mobile lying on the bed, under the pillow.

He picked it up with familiarity. It was the phone he had gifted her. He opened it with his fingerprint. A new message flashed on the screen. The sender’s number was set to private. He motionlessly read the content.

“I really wanted to leave without saying goodbye. But for the sake of those six months, I will bestow you with a last respite.” Kieth’s hand clasped the phone with a death grip.

“Perhaps I am just like any other girl in your eyes. You do not feel any pull. So, rejecting you will not bring you any pain. But I am different. Being with you, lowering myself, and swallowing my pride has brought me pain." The more Keith read, the more panicked he felt.

"Look at fate! Even if I reject you, it is I who would be feeling the pain of rejection, of denying fate. But I cannot allow it. I refuse to be in pain. I am leaving. So, let us end it all. Here. Now. Goodbye.”
