MIKEY COLLIN P.O.V
Throughout the whole drive, I tried to think of the many ways I could clear up the misunderstanding that Cassie has of me.
“We’re here sir,” said Silas, pulling the car to a halt. He stepped out of the car and quickly opened the door for me.
I get out of the car and saw Stella, who was Matthews P.A walking toward me. If he had someone already waiting for me, he must have known I was coming.
That arrogant man.
She approached me with those aquamarine eyes and naturally plump lips that were throwing a seductive smile. Her pixie-cut hair worked for her and highlighted her features.
It was what drew men to her.
Stella slept with any man that had her seeing dollar signs. I wasn’t an idiot. This woman was looking for a man who would pay for the luxurious life she was dreaming for. Matthew knew that too; which was why he kept her around, but not close enough for he
MIKEY COLLIN P.O.V“Tell me about this woman,” Matthew ordered. “She must be quite the lay if she brings Mikey Collins to his knees.”Something in me felt a tick when he spoke of her as if she was an easy woman. Cassie isn’t like that. If he wasn’t my best friend, I would have punched this man in the jaw and drag his face against the floor.“Talk about her like she’s an easy woman one more time and I will snap your neck.” I seethed.Unfazed by my threat, Matthew replied with a grin, “Well, well, well.” His interest peaked, “This is entertaining.” He leaned back to get comfortable in his chair. “I have never seen you act this hostile over a woman.” He ordered as if it was necessary, “I want to meet her.”I shut that idea downrealquick. I was extremely excited to come to the craft fair, once I saw the pink posted flyer at school. I usually never pay attention to the board filled with a massive number of colorful flyers in the compound at the local community college I attend, but it seemed like it would be fun to attend. Which ithasbeen so far until I made the mistake of wanting to get my portrait painted. I knew it would belong, but I didn’t realize howlongit would take. This woman could easily take my picture and paint me using that, butno. It was better to paint a portrait of me when I’m here in person, instead of painting me, using a picture on her phone.
“Will youpleasecome with me?” pleaded my now very annoying best friend.Ava Abner has been my best friend since elementary. We showed up to our first day of school in kindergarten and noticed we were using the same backpack and sat next to each other at lunchtime. We’ve been close ever since that day, we’re practically sisters.I pulled my attention away from the computer screen that displayed the unfished homework that I was trying to complete, “No Ava.”“You’re going to pass up on going to one of the most popular shows ever!?” Ava asked as if the fact that I was denying her offer was ludicrous. She groaned and put her hands on my shoulders. She l
“Wow,” I whispered in awe.The place was magnificent. The building’s lobby alone was enormous. I glanced up to the ceiling, and there was a huge beautiful crystal chandelier, that looked more expensive than my outfit and tuition combined. The floor shined with white marble, and the beautiful furniture around us white, I feel I’d get it dirty if I touch it. I looked down at my feet checking to see if I had gotten the floor dirty.“I know right?” squealed Ava. She leaned closer to whisper in my ear as we walked further in. “I can’t believe how many men are here.” She winked at a man that passed her by.I laughed, “Oh my goodness Ava.”
A smug look formed on his face, “I don’t know if that’s true.” He shrugged nonchalantly, “I’ve been told my charm could melt the hearts of the coldest women.”“Well, I’m not like every woman you’ve ever met,” I sneered. This guy must be a real Casanova. I give myself a mental pat on the back for not tripping over my own feet, to sink my claws into this man. Then again, I’ve never done that before and I don’t instead start now.Especially not this guy.Surprising me, he nodded his head in agreement, “You certainly aren’t.”Was that supposed to be an insult or compliment?
Refusing to give him any more attention than I already have, I stuck my chin up and gave my attention back to the performance that started, rather than the handsome man beside me who turned out to be a cheater. My arm that was laying on the armrest between us wasn’t big enough for two people. So, when he put his left hand on mine to rest on the armrest, I scowled at him. Snatching my hand away and instead of using the armrest on the left.“Sorry,” he said in a sheepish tone. “I didn’t know it was there,” he said in a fake innocent tone.“Yeah right,” I scoffed. My hand has been sitting there for the past ten minutes buddy. I feel so bad for the woman sitting beside him. She doesn’t know that she’s
I gave him a once-over. It wasn’t hard for people to buy a fancy out and return it the next day. There are some really good actors out there that will play to get what they want. This guy could be a handsome poser for all I know. He could be some drug addict that sleeps with women then steals their money in the middle of the night while the girl is asleep. Then once they have it, they run.I narrowed my eyes, trying to hide the interest I was secretly feeling at finally being able to know his name, “What’s your name?”"Michael Collins, but my friends call me Mikey.” He answered proudly.“Mikey,” I say testing it out. I could finally put a name to the handsome face. His eyes darkened when his name passed through my lips.“Yes,” his voice hoarse. Clearing his throat, “When you see that I’m telling the truth. I deserve a reward.”“A reward?” I repeated the word,
“Cassie!” I peeked over Mikey’s shoulder and saw Ava out and waiting for me. She was scowling at Mikey, and not approving what I was doing. For all we know, he was a possible cheater. I had yet to see if he was telling the truth. Ava looked at me with a ‘what the hell are you doing talking to him look?’ clear on her face. I knew that I had some explaining to do on the way back to the dorm.My phone dinged and then started ringing drawing my attention from her. Picking it up, “Hello?” I greeted, taking a step back from Mikey after seeing how close we were.“Hi! This is Bob, your uber driver. I just pulled up to the hotel.” I looked at the car waiting for us, that matched the car on the app and spotted him stepping out.“Okay. I’ll be right there,” I replied right before hanging up. I looked at Mikey, “I have to go.”“Call me as soon as you see it,” refe

MIKEY COLLIN P.O.VI’m still standing in my spot, after watching her walk away with hurt on her face. She was trying to hide it, but I could see it. The thing is, I don’t understand why she is feeling that way.Was it something I said?If it wasn’t for her friend, I would have figured out what made her feel that way. My time with Cassie was interrupted so many times. By my mother, nanna, Matthew, and now her friend.I groaned and drag my hand down on my face. Silas looked at me with an unpleased look. An expression, I doubt he realized was showing on his face.“Did you see that?” I asked with a disbelieving look. I shook my head, “One moment we were okay, the next moment, she looks at me like I broke destroyed her world.”Silas, look hesitant to reply.“What Silas?” I asked, feeling impatient.Silas cleared his throat, “I believe it was what y
CASSIE STONE P.O.VThis guy just won’t give up. I don’t know if he’s lying and I’m afraid of believing him. Once I give in, I’m a goner. I can’t remember a time when he did. He didn’t lie when he told me who he was. Then again, if I was a rich CEO like him, I wouldn’t lie either.“As far as I know, you haven’t,” I said looking up from the ground. “Yet,” I added.I looked around us and noticed the many eyes watching us. Students stopped and were watching us with both the extreme amount of interest. Jealously was shot my way, but those were by the women. If looks could kill, I would be dead.He leaned down towards me and with his index finger turned my head to him; drawing my attention back to him. If he took one more step towards me, his lips would be touching mine. “I know winning you over won’t be easy, but tell me what I can do to
MIKEY COLLIN P.O.VMy hand gripped the phone in my hands. I took a peek at Cassie to see if she heard what Matthew asked. She wasn’t looking my way and was looking out her window instead. I wouldn’t be surprised if she heard, but I really hope she didn’t.Turning my head away from Cassie. “That is none of your business if I am or not,” I replied to the idiot on the phone. For someone that thinks of love as a bad word, I’m surprised he even said it.“Someone’s being defensive,” sang Matthew. My hands gripped the phone tighter. If I squeezed it any tighter, then it would break. I know I was, but obviously, I’m not going to admit that.“No, I’m not,” I lied.“That’s exactly what a person feeling defensive would say,” Matthew pointed out.I really wish I could jump through this phone and smash his fa
MIKEY COLLIN P.O.VShe doesn’t say anything.“I’m growing on you,” I said knowingly. I know it’s true. I drop the teasing look on my face.Like a predator approaching its prey, I step closer to her, and she automatically takes a step away.“I’m going to ruin all men for you, Cassie.” I look at her with promise and a look that shows I’m being serious, “and that’s a fact.”I watch as her eyes widen, but she doesn’t say anything. She can see that I’m not playing around anymore. It doesn’t escape my attention that her breathing gets quicker. I watch as her eyes stray to my lips. She licks her own, and I groan with frustration. This woman is so beautiful and I’m trying to hold myself back from devouring her.“Don’t do that,” I growled.I’m holding on by a thread. “Don&rsquo
MIKEY COLLIN P.O.VWalking down the hallway to the door. I’m eager to hear what this stubborn angel before me thinks of my grandmother and mother. “So, what do you think?” I ask. She looked at me lost before it took her a second to realize what I was talking about, “I think they’re great.”Getting to the front door, I open it for her. Finding what she said, I ask, “Really?”She walks out, looking at me from over her shoulder as I follow her. “You don’t think I’m telling the truth?”Usually, people would describe those two women as overwhelming, overbearing, and always oversharing. “I think you’re very good at finding the nicest way to phrase an answer about someone with bad habits,” I looked at her knowingly.“That’s nice, but I don’t think that’s true,” replied Cassie. She
CASSIE STONE P.O.VAll three pairs of eyes shot towards me. I really didn’t want to interrupt them, but I had to get home. Today was Wednesday and every Wednesday, my parents and I would have a video call. A phone call was never enough for them. They wanted to see for their own eyes, that I was okay.Me being away from home was hard enough for them. Especially my little brother Adam. I love that brat to bits and pieces. Now that I’m not home, my parents shower him with extra attention, and the last time I spoke to him, he said he loved it. I laughed when he told me that he loved how he was getting spoiled. This zoom call may not seem like a big deal to most, but I promised my parents that I would call them at 6:30 pm every Wednesday. My last class finished at 4:30 pm, Mikey and I got to his house around 5:30 pm after he kidnapped me while I was eating my meal, and it’s almost 6:30 pm.I didn’t realize how quick
MIKEY COLLIN P.O.VI stand across the two meddling women sitting at the kitchen island.I cross my arms across my chest. “You two need to stop,” I said sternly. If these two continue on with their meddling, I will lose Cassie before I even get her. The last thing she needs right now is being bombarded with questions.I’m lucky she’s even here. “We didn’t even do anything wrong!” my mother protested.“Yes, you both did. You are meddling.” I emphasized the word meddling. “You know, now is definitely not the time I want Cassie to meet you both.”I don’t know how my dad is able to handle my mother. I came to the conclusion a long time ago, that she is the one that wears the pants in the relationship. My father is very laid back and they’re high school sweethearts. He told me that it was my mother’s strong character that
