The next morning,i woke up to a commotion outside my room. It faintly sounded like a whiplash. I struggled to get up from the bed and slowly took steps towards the bedroom door..It took me a while but i was finally able to get there. When i opened the door, everything i had been hearing became so much clearer.
"I'm sorry Alpha. I shouldn't have disobeyed your instructions-" I heard someone plead as more sounds of lashing got louder. I didn't know what it was about but i thought the voice was really familiar. I dragged my feet on the ground until i reached the grand staircase. The house was really huge had it not been for the voices i was following, i would've gotten lost. "Exactly. Why didn't you?" Ryder asked before i heard more lashing. I knew how it felt so i felt really bad for the one that was on the receiving end. What motivated me to keep going was the fear that it might be one of my people. My people. I took another step down the stairs, wincing in pain as i do. I made it down and by the time i got to the last step, i was sweating profusely. I used the wall to support myself until i got to an opening where Ryder sat with a cigar between his fingers. In Front of him was a display of something being flogged. I couldn't get his face at first. "What did i say?" Ryder demanded, calmly. He moved his hand to his ashtray and that's when he noticed me. His intense eyes locked on mine and i could immediately tell that he was angry from the way his nostrils flared up. "Fucking hell" Ryder cursed as he roughly pressed the cigar on his ash tray until it was out. He grabbed his drink and finished it in one sip before he stood up. "Take him away. He's not allowed to participate in anything until he's learnt his lesson," Ryder instructed but even then, he didn't pull his eyes away from mine even for a second. When the man that had been punished was helped up, i recognized him immediately. It was one of the Alphas that had been leading up to the Silver moon pack. The one that had been hitting me. I only looked at him for a second before Ryder blocked my view when he came in front of him. I tilted my head to the side and gasped when i saw his bloody back. He had been whipped so much that his shirt was torn. "What are you doing out of bed?" Ryder asked when he finally had my attention. I looked into his eyes and i remember his warning last night. "I was...just hungry," I said and i saw his strained facial expression soften. "Someone's already making breakfast for you. You shouldn't be moving" Ryder said before he leaned down and carried me in his arms. He carried me up the stairs and i looked down at the door. I wanted to go out but right now, there was nothing more i could do. With a defeated sigh, i looked away and my eyes fell on Ryder's side face. He was just as handsome as he was, probably even more handsome than i remembered. "Like what you're seeing?" Ryder asked and i snapped out of whatever trance i was in. "What?" I asked but my cheeks burned at the realization that i had been caught staring. Ryder could only smirk before he took the last step up and walked to his bedroom. He placed me back on the bed just as a middle aged woman came in with a tray of food. I watched as she placed the food and Ryder took it. "Thank you Mary," Ryder said quietly. The woman glanced over at me then at Ryder before she excused herself. My eyes were on Ryder as he grabbed the soup and blew on the scoop he had filled. "What?" Ryder asked and i rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "My hands are alright. I can eat myself-" I said and Ryder looked at me with a blank expression. "I know. Just shut up and eat-" he replied. I opened my mouth and let him feed me. This felt nice. It was almost the way they were before when Ryder was taking care of him. "I want some meat too," I said, with my eyes fixed on the bowl Ryder was holding. He fed me a piece and i smiled. "Ryder!!! Ryder!!" I looked up when i heard a feminine voice yelling Ryder's name. My eyes were on the door as the voice drew closer. Once the voice manifested a face, i frowned. "Ryder. Why have the rouges been housed and even--" The woman trailed off when she barged into the room and saw Ryder feeding me. She didn't look pleased. "Lexi. I told you to knock before you come into my room. How long do i need to remind you of this?" Ryder groaned out. "Eat. Your breakfast is getting cold," Ryder instructed and i opened my mouth. "Who's this? One of the rogues?" She asked and i sighed softly. "Ryder. She's??--" I asked and Ryder looked into my eyes. "Lexi, this is Zed. Zed..." Ryder trailed off and grabbed a napkin. He wiped at the corner of my mouth. "This is Lexi..." Lexi smiled and placed her hand on Ryder's shoulder. "I'm his fiancé" she said quite happily. "Fiancé?" I asked in shock while looking at Ryder. He didn't flinch. Not even for a moment. Instead, he smirked. What a jerk! "And you and Ryder, what are you--" Lexi asked and Ryder's eyes lit up. "He's going to be out new servant" Ryder declared and my jaw dropped. Indeed, a jerk!{Zed's Pov}"What? Do you have something to say?" Ryder asked, pleased while staring at me. I still hadn't said anything since Ryder introduced me to Lexi."Why would he? He's just a bloody rogue-" Lexi replied quickly and i glared at her. Ryder did too and she quickly swallowed whatever more opinionated remarks she had."No. What right do i have to say anything? I'm just a rogue,"I said and Ryder turned his frown towards him. Was that displeasure i saw on his face?"What did you want Lexi?" Ryder asked, changing the topic. I reached for the bowl in his hands, intending to finish the rest of the soup by myself. My fingers brushed against Ryder's and my breath hitched. I looked up at his face and his eyes bore intensely into mine. "I can eat by myself-" I said while looking at him then at Lexi, who didn't look very pleased."You didn't have a problem five minutes earlier-" he said and i sighed softly. Maybe i didn't but there was no way i was going to entertain Ryder anymore. Not when
My eyes fluttered closed when the towel hit my face. I didn't bother to grab it and instead, watched Ryder's back as he walked out to the bathroom. His bitch? What did that even mean? I didn't think there was so much hostility between me and Ryder. Not to this point where he'd insult me and degrade me just to feel better about himself. My fists were clenched when i thought about how Ryder had spoken to him. I followed Ryder from the bathroom to his bedroom. He was cleaning after me. Seeing him do the opposite of what Ryder had just told me only angered me even more. When he straightened the sheets, i grabbed them and ripped them from the bed and tossed them on the floor. Ryder ignored me at first but i didn't make it easier for him, instead, i grabbed one of the pillows and hit him with it. "Zed--" he called out, resigned and annoyed. I wasn't having any of it. "You are a vile person Ryder. A heartless monster and one with a very filthy mouth-" I said and Ryder closed the distanc
My heart was in my hands while i watched Austin fight not just for himself but the rest of us who couldn't. I've watched Austin grow since he was a little child when his family first joined the Red Blades pack. He was an exceptional fighter but Ryder's were better. I knew. Ryder knew. Everyone knew.It was like fate had decided to deal with me first hand. Ever since the battle, it had been blow after blow. First my father died by the man i have loved for years, being homeless and now this. My fate was Ryder. He was the weapon being used to deal with me. "No...no...stop!" I screamed when Austin started to take blow after blow. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the fight. Everyone but us. Ryder? I wasn't sure. He wasn't looking at the fight. He was looking right at me, watching my every expression. A predator, toying with his prey. I felt like that. Like a piece of unwanted meat was being kept because the predator wasn't ready to eat yet. My eyes fluttered while i looked at Ryder. The fi
Zed's Pov "Move it you piece of filth!" I looked over just in time to see a member of my pack being shoved forward. Shackled with chains on both hands and feets, i dragged my feet over to the young boy, about 14 years old and pretty roughed up from the war. "Austin-- Are you alright?" I asked softly. The dead look in Austin's eyes broke him. Being the Alpha's son, i was supposed to take care of his pack, not lead them into captivity. I felt like a failure and i knew most of them thought it too. "I'm fine Zed. Are you alright? You don't look too good yourself" Austin asked and he attempted to flash that reassuring smile he always gave me. Austin was one among the potentially capable young alphas the Red Blades pack, my pack, had been nurturing before the attack. "I'm alright. I can tough it up" I say before i look up ahead. My feets were already sore, so I believed i had to have blisters forming. "Tough it up? For a bunch of useless rouges, this one's got some mouth on him" on
Ryder's Pov I was in my room, tending to my wounds when word came in that the rogues had arrived. Lexi, my fiancé, who had been applying ointment on my skin, stopped for a moment and looked at my face. "Ryder? You brought them into our pack?" She asked and i just grunted in response. "Do you think they'll submit to you? To us?" Lexi asked again. This time, my eyes twinkled in excitement. "I don't kill women and children Lex, you know that" I grumbled, my lips tightening from the stabbing pain from my wounds. "That's not what i heard. There are alphas too. You know how much it took to get the last rouges in line. The omegas, i'm not very worried. We could hand them over to the mateless alphas and--" I stood up suddenly and turned around to look at her with a furrowed website. "We? This is my pack Lexi. I'm the one that decides what to do with anyone" I said through gritted teeth before i looked at her. Lexi looked at me, her eyes widened in shock at the sudden change in my t
"Whatever happens. I want you all to live your best lives. There's no Red Blades pack anymore... We don't have the luxury of choosing. Fighting or defying isn't an option for us anymore. Even if not for us, let's think about our children. The little ones that need to survive" I arrived just in time to hear those heroic words. I didn't need to strain to know who said them because i recognized the voice very clearly. It was as soft spoken and soothing as i last remembered. I didn't say anything at first, instead, i looked at the gathered group, squeezed up in the same cell Zed was in. His hair, bright red, making him stick out from the rest of the group. In all those years, he hadn't changed at all. Not one bit. He was still small, almost fragile. "How very touching!" I mused and a smirk appeared on my face.
