In the world of Hetonaia, humans, vampires, elves and other creatures exist, but they aren't on good terms with each other. Humans and vampires exist to conquer because of their mass number. Meanwhile, elves the immortal and with lesser numbers exist to protect other beings from extinction. Amethyst Elan is an elf from the White Elf tribe or Healer Elves who have been captured and turned into a slave after humans destroyed her village. But, fate plays a major role when the assumed crazy vampire king, Luveas Dayn, bought her because her scent reminded him of someone he treasured and he treated her with great care. When Amethyst thought her life had taken a better turn of fate, suddenly, the humans proposed a truce to coexist through a marriage between the vampire king and their human princess. In other words, the union will place the elven race and other beings in grave danger especially Amethyst Elan, who accidentally marks the vampire king as her spouse.

In a once peaceful village of the White Elf Tribe or the Healer Elves, a cruel onslaught took place; humans namely bandits, poachers and black merchants ambushed and pillaged their village. The screams and cries of the grieving elves poisoned the peaceful air. The weather turned dark and murky adding tension to the already tense scene."Run for the forest!"The elves shouted as they ran away from the river where the humans emerged fully armed. The river that flowed down from the mountain was the passage that humans used to sneak into the village as the mountains were the borders that separated Ancea from Numany the human territory and Luthien the vampire territory.Elves, young and old, who couldn't fight, fled into the forest where they find refuge from Mother Nature. Innocent animals scattered everywhere but some perished in the mad onslaught."Don't let them get to the forest!" the human shouted to his peers. Then, they started to shoot arrows at the fleeing elves.Amethyst ran with her sister's dead body in her arms. Her face was drenched in tears and her left thigh was pierced by an arrow. She cried not because of the pain from the wound, but because she found Topaz already dead at their farm near the riverbank. Topaz was the human's first victim before the ambush.Zup!An arrow hit the ground and Amethyst shuffled back to an immediate halt. But, she lost her balance, so she fell like a wounded bear, crushing down on Topaz's cold body and got her chin bruised badly. The wounded elf struggled to her feet after she grabbed a staff that was lying near her. She turned on her heels facing her back to the forest when the sound of arrows being shot altogether reached her ears. Then, she looked up to the sky.The sky was filled with tiny dots: arrows and down they come finding their prey like the blood-sucking bats out on the hunt. When the arrows came near, Amethyst hit with the staff to deflect them. Her movements were swift as if she was dancing. Her keen eyes could see the movements of the flying arrows. However, her heart still broke as she couldn't save all of her kin. She was forced to see the cruel onslaught of her innocent people when the arrows ran down on them like the explosion of the larva. Their cries send grief to her soul.Humans never stop killing her kind just like how her parents were taken nearly two decades ago. She was only five and Topaz was turning three when it happened. After that first painful incident, the remaining Healer Elves took the sisters and fled to another place but, now, their second sanctuary was breached again!Zup!An arrow flew towards Amethyst but she swerved, dodging it. However, the sharp tip of the arrow's spearhead grazed her cheekbone, the only share the arrow could get as it flew past her face. The elf turned to her side quickly, and with her quick hand, she snatched a poison dart from her side pocket and tossed it hard at the human that came at her.The dart flew and hit the human deep in his chest, where his heart belonged and he slumped down to his death.Suddenly, a couple of elves dragged her by the arms, forcing her to withdraw from the fight."Run! We're outnumbered!" one of the elves said."I can't leave Topaz alone!" Amethyst cried and she wiggled her way out of their arms. Topaz was still lying on the ground and she couldn't let her rest there forever."Topaz is gone!" cried one of the elves. "We must leave!""You must survive!" encouraged the other elf.Amethyst hesitated. Her heart broke again. They were right, she thought, she must survive. She eyed the elves and then nodded her head. "Alright!"Fuelled by courage, Amethyst dragged her idle left leg, struggling to run. Blood drenched her feet, leaving trails of blood on the ground.Meanwhile, humans that couldn't match the elves' agile speed, started to shoot arrows without stopping. Their loud and angry voices resounded when the elves dispersed to safety one after another.Amethyst hastened her pace to match the pair up front as she bit her pain away. Her will to survive grew when the forest appeared in her view. But, she stumbled and fell face down on the ground, again!"Amethyst!"One of the elves stopped and turned around, looking gravely worried."Just run!" Amethyst shouted. "Don't look back!""We cannot leave you-""Just go!!"The elf, tears in her eyes, turned around again and disappeared into the forest where they find refuge from Mother Nature. On the other hand, Amethyst clawed her way up to her feet again. However, her heart froze when showers of arrows lit with fire, rained down before her eyes and set the forest ablaze."No..." Amethyst was dismayed. "No!!!"Bonk! The elf grimaced when somebody hit hard in the back of her head. Her vision dimmed, her ears deafened and then she fell unconscious....Amethyst opened her eyes and was greeted by a painful headache upon her wakening. She touched the back of her head and felt a big bump there, and it throbbed painfully. Luckily, she found no trace of blood.Ignoring the maddening headache, the elf propelled her body into a sitting position. She searched her sides but her poison darts were gone. The humans must have disarmed her when they took her captive.Despicable! Then, she threw wary glances around the space. She was inside a huge cage with other female elves of different tribes and none of them possessed the traits of a Healer Elf: golden hair and golden eyes. The other elves' clothes were tattered, their faces were dirty, their bodies were skinny, and they looked tired and hungry. None of them speaks.Amethyst glanced out the iron cage that was moving uncomfortably. She managed to see some trees through the slit of the sheets that mantled the cage. Since she never ventured out of the village, she wasn't sure where they were headed. Then, she leaned back and rested her back against the cold cage but, discomfort lingered. Shortly after that, she noticed something too. The arrow that stuck to her thigh was gone, and the wound was treated and dressed with a flowery patterned cloth. Although the dressing was messy, she was still grateful as she felt kindness there.Amethyst glanced around again, hoping to find her saviour to express her heartfelt gratitude. But, none of the elves wore clothes with flowery patterns."That she-elf is dead," informed the elf who sat quietly beside her. She had a pair of brown eyes and her beautiful face was wounded with abrasions on her cheek and temple, and a slight tear at the tip of her pointy ear.It must hurt, Amethyst thought but she had no use to ask the cause for they all shared the same fate and misfortune."Thank you for letting me know," she answered, retaining her politeness as always. Then, she pursed her lips and joined the rest in their silence, solemnly lamenting the dead and hoping for a better fate.....Amethyst lifted her weary head and she noticed it was already sundown. The carriage that took them had travelled for hours and with no rest. The bumpy ride made Amethyst's body ache. She couldn't even feel her bums for she had been sitting for hours. The other elf also wore the same dreadful expression as hers. Their pointy ears drooped. The air within the cage was filled with endless heartbreak. No happiness but, only sadness remained.Amethyst rested her forehead on her kneecap, ignoring the stinging pain of her wound that started to bleed through the dressing.I'm hungry, she murmured within her mind. She hadn't eaten when she planned to bake pies for Topaz. But, humans ambushed her village and Topaz was gone forever. So, gone was the intention to eat them together as berry pies were now her new dislike!Amethyst squinted in disbelief. "You're unreasonable!"Luveas chuckled at her unhappy rants. "May I assume that you do miss me?""I am not!" she denied strongly.Luveas smiled as he leaned closer and whispered in a crispy voice, "Then, can I expect some words of longing from you?"Amethyst moved away but he grabbed her waist and pulled her close. Their chests met and so were their eyes. Luveas gazed upon her enchanting face; eyes, nose, lips then eyes again. His sexy voice broke the silence between them as he asked again."I miss you. Do you miss me?"Amethyst stayed quiet but her long stare says it. However, she was too awkward to admit what she truly felt. She pushed his chest but he tightened his hold around her waist. "Please say your mind..." he coaxed as he smiled alluringly. He tightened his hold around her waist.Amethyst evaded his gaze as she tried to squirm her way out of his embrace."I am mad at you," she announced which was the opposite of what she truly felt. "Do tel
When the king returned from the land of no return, everyone was on edge for they didn't expect he would survive the journey. Then, rumours swirled about him being undefeatable. Some found admiration but some saw terror. In a mere two days, Luveas was back in the office, managing the kingdom's affairs. His terror remained the same because on the very first day of working, he had dismissed a few of the ministers because of one thing, their scents.Since the king's return, everyone noticed his sense of smell had become very sensitive. However, they dare not comment on it because they care about their lives above all else.Luveas, sitting on his chair, glanced to the side. No one saw him scrunching his nose behind the mask that covered his entire face. Minister Dugree, the new face in the office, eyed the king and glimpsed a pair of greyish-blue eyes hidden under the mask."Do you need something, Your Majesty?" he asked politely. Luveas glanced at him and answered, "I'd like a new decre
For the next two days, Luveas spent his day ogling at his reflection in the mirror. He was excited that his appearance varied greatly than he anticipated."Do I look like my father or my mother?" He had been asking that question for two days in a row now. Amethyst smiled and responded, "I have no answer for that but I am certain you do look like them as one."Luveas beamed. He stepped away from the mirror and sat beside her. Then, he snuggled at her."I am glad to hear that..." Ever since he transformed, he became too attached. It wasn't unpleasant because Amethyst knew he had no one else to be with whom he could confide in his happiness but her. Also, she endured the urge to smack him. "Luveas, since your treatment is now done, have you been thinking of returning to Luthien?" she asked, dropping another question at him.Luveas flinched. He went into silence."I have never thought of that..." he answered. His gaze dropped. The time he spent with her made him forget that he was a r
It was yet another night where Luveas was already in bed, sleeping soundly. He was deep into the world of unconsciousness. Nothing could wake him. Amethyst stepped into the room with a bowl of water drawn from the sacred pool. She placed it beside the bed as she took a seat beside him. There, she sat for some time. One had no idea what was in her mind. Her silent gaze ran along the bandages that covered his entire body and face. Her gaze turned tender as time went by. But, sadness was visibly permeating her eyes. A smile, remnants of her courage, appeared on her otherworldly beautiful face. She reached out and caressed his head affectionately."Your wait shall end tonight..." she whispered.Truthfully, she had wanted to prolong his treatment. She wanted to buy more time to create moments for just the two of them that she would remember forever. But, she knew he might not have much time in his account. She knew she would be gambling on her life as soon as he got what he came here
Luthien...Tobeyaz was working on papers related to problems in the territories of Luthien when Ealyas entered."A letter has arrived from Numany," he announced and placed the letter on the table. Tobeyaz, with a haggard-looking face, eyed the letter. His mood wasn't there yet."How did this letter get through the border?" he asked. His tone was sinister. He had handled numerous cases of vampires going against vampires; one blamed the other for being in cahoots with the humans by the border. Well, it was understandable that many cases of missing young vampires led to distress."It was catapulted into our forest." Ealyas' response was simple though sounded funny.Tobeyaz scoffed. "Then, throw it away. This must be one of those pesky humans' stupid games to distract our soldiers.""Are you sure of that?" asked Ealyas and scrutinized the haggard-looking Tobeyaz.Tobeyaz knitted his brows. When the knight asked such a question, it only meant something serious."The emblem on the envelo
Amethyst stayed silent. "You tell me how far you can go. I leave that choice in your hands," she said, trying to lead him. But, her mien stayed the same; no changes in her emotions. She was calm and fixated. Luveas fidgeted. "But, what if I want to take it too far? Would you allow it?"Amethyst smiled. "Of course, I would allow it," she responded. "You are the only person who gets such permission from me."Because of the spousal markings.Luveas eyed her keenly. "I might treat you as someone dear to me.""Treat me as how you like. I am yours, remember?"Luveas stayed silent. He forgot about that. After all of the fiasco during the day, he forgot about the oath. Then, he asked, "But, what if I want us to get intimate tonight? Would that become a problem for you?" He thought he ought to ask that crucial question for he had no idea what she was thinking.Amethyst smiled even more widely. "That would not become a problem. You are my traveling companion and we can get physically close..."
Luveas began, "During my childhood, my parents were killed. Humans ambushed us when we were picnicking in the palace backyard..."Melancholy danced in Luveas' weary eye when he revisited the painful memory lane. Humans appeared out of nowhere and killed his parents. Strangely, on the day of the former king and queen's assassination, not a single guard appeared on the scene. That moment was still a mystery to him until today."I was too young to understand anything and the one thing I knew was humans took me in as something they studied," he added painfully. His voice bore pure hatred when he mentioned 'studied'. Amethyst knitted her brows. "Something they studied?" She had no idea Humans would do such a thing to other races.Luveas nodded. "Humans studied the endurance of young vampires to estimate the strength of adult vampires. They wanted to find the best weapon to kill us if they could find our weaknesses,” he paused again, seemingly inhaling a deep breath although it wasn’t cert
Amethyst nodded. "Yes, and please repeat after me...""Wait, wait..." Luveas stopped her. "What Oath are we talking about now?"Amethyst eyed him piercingly. "Are you doubting me?"Luveas shook. The elf nodded. "Then, since you have nothing else to say, then follow what I say. From today onward and until death do us part, say my name, is mine and I, say your name, am hers. I shall be granted freedom to roam Ancea just as her."Luveas hesitated. "Uh, that sounds so strange for an oath...""Just do it!" snapped the elf. She was getting impatient for she wanted to end the process soon. Luveas, despite his wariness, said, "From today onward and until death do us part...""Say my name, is mine and I, say your name, am hers.""...Amethyst Elan is mine and I, Luveas Dayn, am hers. I shall be granted freedom to roam Ancea just as her."Amethyst beamed in satisfaction. Then, she glanced at his chest which was h
On the other hand, Amethyst pursed her lips and followed Luveas to the burial site. There, she saw mounds everywhere. Each mound was showered with flower petals.Again, the elf found her composure slipping away slowly. Her chest tighten as she got emotional. All of her people were lying there, resting in eternal slumber. She couldn't believe she'd be one among the elves in Ancea who mourned the loss of her entire tribe; she hoped some survived and hid in the woods...She glanced at Luveas. He was busy placing the bones in the holes that he had dug out. Her heart ached, but it wasn't because of anger. It was more like she was touched deeply by his unexpectedly humble side.Tears filled her eyes. "Thank you, Luveas..." she said faintly. 'Now, I'm glad I marked you as my husband...' she added inwardly....After burying all the bones, Luveas went into the woods. "I want to find a flower that suits your sister," he said before he went fo
