Two months later...

It was finally the D-day for Elena and Calhoun's wedding. It has been two months since the warriors and soldiers of the Blood kingdom and the Kingdom of Neba all returned to their kingdoms, respectively. When Elena and her husband arrived back in the Kingdom, the people shouted in joy, chanting cheers of victory. Elena felt overwhelmed by the praise. She wasn't used to that many people liking her.

The past king and queen of Neba welcomed her with open arms. They had heard about what had taken place on the field, and they were extremely proud. A vigil was held for the warriors who had lost their lives in battle, and a monument with their names on it was erected in their favor. Families of the late warriors were taken under the care of the Royal family.

Once they finally had some private time to themselves, Calhoun didn't waste any more time and immediately started to ravish her. He missed her; immensely. As he held her tightly in his arms, he poured

Hey guys! We have finally reached the end of the book! To be honest, when I started writing this, I didn't think I would go as far as I did. But thanks to the encouragement I received from you guys, I was able to push on. I want to thank those who always made sure to comment under every Chapter. You have no idea how much it meant to me. I was always looking forward to reading them. And also those who voted for my story, Thank you so much. To those who liked my Chapters, thank you so much again. It really means a lot for a writer to see her readers active in her book. This is my first book on this platform, and thanks to you guys, it wouldn't be my last. (I already have an outline for my next book.)I plan on writing a few extra chapters on Elion and Aaron. Their story would be very short, but it would expand on some aspects in the story. The catch is, it can only be viewed by those who support me on my Buy Me A Coffee page. *Check out the comments section

Elena truly loved James; she did. But as she stood there, watching how he smothered her stepsister with kisses, she was surprised at the fact that she did not feel even an ounce of pain. It was so much so that she stood there, studying the complexities of the way he kissed her; it almost seemed as if he was swallowing her whole face. James had never kissed her like that. The highest he had ever done was to give her a featherlight kiss on her lips, one she doubts she even felt. She supposed she should have seen it coming, the betrayal, that is. Nothing had been going right for her ever since the death of her beloved Queen Mother. And her father, the King, did not waste his time replacing her. She doubts that her father ever loved her mother. As soon as she had reached the age where she could understand her surroundings, She realized that the marriage between her parents was just a farce. Oh, her mother loved her father, but the King never even glanced at her. She had

Elena made her way back to her room. Once she reached her bedroom, she began pacing in the comfort of her closed space. Tired and scared, thinking of a way to escape this disaster. She didn't want to get married to the Blood King. No! That will never happen! She thought. He was popular in all the lands for his tyranny and love for pain. Rumors have it that if he doesn't cause himself some sort of bodily harm at a particular time every day, he would not be satisfied or happy, thereby making his tyranny towards those around him even worse. If she gets married to this kind of person, there is no probability of her ever surviving. She wondered what she did to her father to make him hate her so because if he didn't, no matter if he accepted her or not, he would not want to send her to the Blood King. The only way left was for her to flee the palace. She continued pacing while drafting out plans in her mind. As she finally thought of a way to get herself free fro

Elena finally arrived at the entrance of the castle gate. To avoid the guards from seeing her, she sneaked out in the form of a maid. It would have been hard to discern her as she was never treated, especially in the castle, so her clothes were worse than a maid's. Her heart was beating hard when she reached the guards. Fortunately, they didn't suspect anything, so she left the castle without a problem. It was a good thing that not everyone knew her face. They have heard stories about the bastard child, but most haven't seen her or even care to. She spent most of her time in the castle library or her secret passage hideout, listening to the King and his advisors. Thanks to the extensive knowledge she accumulated, she knew following the Forest would lead her to the border between her Kingdom and the Kingdom of Neba. Neba was her mother's homeland. Her mother had always talked about that Kingdom, its scenery, the food, and the culture. To be honest, Elena had always been a

The man looked up at Elena with hope. Finally, there is someone who might just bring back his shop to its former glory, even beyond that! "Tell me what you need, Anything! And I will make sure to do it!" He said excitedly. "Well sir, you would have to close down your shop for a month. We have to start renovations." "Done. I'll see to that immediately." Without even waiting for Elena to continue, the man immediately left to close the restaurant, sending whoever was in it away. He closed the restaurant doors, hung the closed sign, and wrote "won't be open for a month" before he finally went back inside. The man then ushered Elena from the kitchen into the serving area and nudged her beside a table. He also dragged himself a seat towards her table. "So what's the plan?" "Firstly, we need to collect a loan. I doubt you have enough expenses for the renovating of this building." She started immediately. "No. No loans. I won't take any loans." "But you need

The next day came very quickly. Elena had already prepared the ingredients she would cook for the crowd that day. She was currently bringing out her utensils to set up outside. "Are you ready for today?" Mac asked. "Of course. You?" "Yes. Yes, I am. You know you do not have to be nervous right? I'm right next to you."Mac said calmly. Elena stopped what she was doing to take a good look at him. Despite the calm look on his face, the twitching of his fingers and the way his legs were shaking gave him away. "It looks like that advice was meant for you, don't you think?" She said teasingly. Mac sighed. "I can't help it. So many people already want to come to our restaurant. I took a walk yesterday evening after our showcase, and we were the talk of the whole town." He said, smiling. "Well then, that's good isn't it?" Elena asked. "You have no idea. Enough with the chit-chat. Let go prepare for more customers." He helped her carry her working table to the

He was put in charge of the search party sent out to find Elena. "Why can't you do your job well? Do you know what's going to happen if we do not find her?!" The king screamed angrily. "We have promised to give her to the Blood king, do you know what will happen if we go there empty-handed? We will all be killed! Our kingdom will be razed to the ground! Do you know what it means to fail your promise to the Blood king!?" He threw up his hands, an expression of outrage. "You know what, forget it. I'll hire someone better." The king said. The guard knelt immediately and bowed his head. "Forgive me, my Lord. I promise I will do better next time -" "No, you have done enough." He faced the servant next to him and called out. Elena slowly opened her eyes, trying to get her surroundings. She tried to move, but the pains that racked her body caused her to wince, advising her to remain in the position she was in.“Elena? Elena, it’s me.” A voice said to her. She tried to move her head, but it was impossible. She could only stare straight at the tent ceiling. Noticing her dilemma, the voice owner bent to look properly at her. Elena started crying once she saw the face; the tears came out slowly before they poured down like a flood.“Calhoun!” Elena said, her voice hoarse.“Yes, Darling. It’s me.” He answered. He had also teared up; the joy surrounding his heart was encompassing. “I thought... I thought you were gone.”“You stupid girl.” Calhoun said, gently removing a tendril of hair from her face. “That isn’t enough to kill me. I am the blood king remember? I might not have been as strong as Firoza, but that doesn’t mean I can’t protect myself from attacks. I have powers too.”Ele

The war field was engulfed in silence. Then the screaming began. All the people who had their sense of control ripped from them fell to the ground, holding their heads in their hands and screaming their lungs out. It was like a repeat of what had happened in the kingdom of Pres, Wazir thought. Whoever had been controlling them had been killed, and from the look of things, the person had to be Slovic, the huge monster. Wazir wished to be closer to the main battle, but he knew that he was safer inside the barrier. The people there needed someone they could look up to as their main leaders fought. He looked towards the main fighting ground again and hoped that his niece was fine.Elena was panting heavily after killing the monster. The naked body of the man who she had just killed lay on the bloodied ground, his face still in shock even after death. Slowly, Elena rose from the ground as her husband rushed to support her."Are you alright?" he asked, his face drenched

She slammed into Slovic hard, sending him flying several feet away, but she didn't cease in her assault. She was adamant about putting an end to him. His blood, his death, was the only thing that drew her attention. Firoza, she assumed, would attack her if she began to beat up her ally. On the other hand, the woman merely stayed standing, her head cocked. Her face had a thoughtful expression on it.Calhoun stood behind her, ready to intervene if she had any thoughts of retaliating against them. He was anxious about his wife, but he noticed that she had a resolute expression on her face. She wouldn't stop until Slovic was dealt with. She had no choice except to kill him herself. She needed to demonstrate her worth.Calhoun was aware of the situation. He knew that ending Slovic would be a minor inconvenience for him. In reality, he was tempted to do so because of the man's previous treatment of his wife. But he kept his cool and let his wife handle things.Slovic was perpl

"No!" Elena exclaimed, collapsing on her knees next to her father. With shaking hands, she tried to stop his bleeding. It proved futile as his blood gushed out the more. Her father groaned, every part of his body in severe pain. He looked at his daughter—the daughter he had wronged for years. She had become a woman now, and she was beautiful, just like her mom. However, she carried the majority of her attributes from her maternal grandmother. She was crying over him, and he wanted nothing but to wipe her tears away. She shouldn't worry about him. She was never at fault; he was. He could finally meet his love and tell her about their daughter. He wished he could have spent more time with her. Fate had other plans, it seemed. It was better for him that he died at her hand. He didn't think he would be able to survive if he killed his daughter. He had lost so much already, all for his greed for power. "Don't die," he heard her whisper repeatedly. He wished he could honour her wi

Silence and dread permeated the air. A reddish black smoke rose from the air to the darkened sky, and everyone's view was on it. Elena paused her strike on Slovic to look up at the sky. Calhoun was already facing the encounter with a deep scowl on his face. "What is going on here?" the shrill voice questioned. "Why am I seeing more people than expected?" The smoky cloud surrounding the voice's owner dissipated to reveal Firoza in a black armour gown, her flowing black hair kept loose. She looked around the battlefield with an evil smile, beaming at the soldiers."Not what I had been expecting." Slowly, she made her descent to the ground, several feet from where Elena, Calhoun, and Slovic were. The latter, who was almost unconscious, but was still smiling, called out in a frail voice."Niece, you are finally around. What took you so long?" Firoza turned around to face him and smiled once she saw Calhoun. "Calhoun!" she called out, her expression changing imm

That's good. Well it's too bad though, I'll not be able to hear your take on it. You have to die."Elena lay there, not aware of her surroundings anymore. Even after Slovic struck her, causing her to fly several meters away, she still didn't care. Her whole world had just been turned upside down. She landed with a heavy thud against the corpses of soldiers who had been killed. Something in her must-have ruptured because she started choking out blood. Her head was bleeding, the blood flowing to her face and blocking her eyesight. She tried getting up, but she couldn't move her limbs. She planted her elbows steady on the ground, trying to balance herself, yet they gave out, causing her to lie back down. Slovic appeared before her, tsking. "You are not as strong as I thought you were." He said
