Chapter 95

AYRA'S POV

The sliver of kingdom's sky peeked through the sheer curtains, painting the room with a cool, pre-dawn light. I stirred, the silk sheets clinging to my bare skin. Lucius’ request to join him for breakfast on the balcony echoed in my mind. Ignoring the prickle of unease, I threw off the covers and padded silently to the bathroom.

The water from the shower cascaded down, washing away the remnants of sleep and the film of Lucius’ presence from my skin. I dressed quickly, opting for a simple white dress that flowed loosely over my form. Maybe a little peace offering wouldn't hurt.

Reaching the balcony, I found Lucius already seated at the small wrought-iron table, a steaming cup of tea cradled in his large hands. His dark hair was slightly ruffled, a rare sight that hinted at sleeplessness. He didn't look up as I approached, and the silence stretched, heavy and unwelcome.
