Third person POV
Zack placed his long legs on the coffee table, one on top of the other, as he pressed his phone. As Zack surfed through the internet reading the news about the market and stocks, mindlessly looking at what he deemed important to his person and scrolling over what he didn't need to concern himself about, especially gossip, one would easily mistake him for the owner of the fancy restaurant he was in and the staff room to be his personal office if not for the waiter's uniform that betrayed him. The uniform consisted of a white dress shirt, a black bow and black slacks. With his tall legs, slim waist, broad chest and styled but messy dark hair, one could mistake him for a model. Zack checked the time, and it was 6:50pm at the moment, meaning his break would end in about ten minutes. In two hours, he would be heading home after an eight-hour shift that started at 1pm. Zack checked the date on his phone and he let out a deep breath. Tomorrow would be his third anniversary with his girlfriend, Emilia. They had been together for three years now, and despite their different schedules, he always looked forward to spending more time with her. Emilia is a student studying law and will graduate in a month's time, hence she had been very busy. So busy that even though they live together in the same house, Zack barely saw her, and when he did, she barely had time for him. From last minute projects, late night studying and meeting up with colleagues to talk about job hunting, Zack rarely saw his girlfriend and even when he did, it was only for a few minutes, meaning they hadn't been intimate for long. But Zack, being the understanding boyfriend he is, gave his girlfriend the space she needed, knowing how important her carrier was to her. Just as he was scrolling, a list of articles popped up and one caught his eye. 'Best gifts for your woman to celebrate your anniversary' Without a moment of hesitation, Zack clicked on the article and was directed to the page. "Lover boy!" Someone laughed while patting Zack on his shoulder. Even before he looked up, Zack already knew it was none other than his cousin, Chris. "Hey, when did you come here, and since when are non-staff allowed to be in here?" Zack looked at his cousin. "You know me, charms and all," Chris grinned and winked at the same time. "But what are you doing here when you should be working?" "I am just having a few minutes' break. What brought you here anyway? Hard to believe you came here just to say hi." "What do you mean? Of course, I came to say hi to my favorite cousin." "I am your only cousin," Zack deadpanned. "All the more reason to come see how you are doing! You never visit home anyway. It's so rare to see one would think you are the CEO," Chris chuckled. "I actually came to have a work dinner with someone," Chris said, less energetically this time. "Good luck with that," Zack whistled. "But I can't seem to convince him about a certain deal," Chris kneeled beside Zack's chair and looked at him with pleading eyes as Zack looked away, rolling his eyes playfully. "Whatever it is, I really don't see it working," Zack shook his head, waving his hand over his uniform. "It doesn't matter," Chris shrugged. "And it's just this once, help a cousin will ya?" Chris rubbed his palms together. "Nope!" "I just need you to say a few things for me. Put in a few good words, you know," Chris pouted. "Please!" Chris blinked while blowing his cheeks. "Ughh! Will you stop already! You look like an ogre doing that," Zack stood up, acting disgusted, making Zack laugh. "I knew you would do this for me," Chris linked arms with Zack, continuing to act cute. "Stop that before I change my mind." "Sorry," Chris laughed, as they walked out of the staff room. "What is it about anyway?" Zack asked as they walked through the hallway that would lead them back to the main restaurant. "There's this guy, and he is very hard to please, and I've been trying to set a meeting with him, for weeks, but he's not quite, how do I put it..." "Ready to sign it yet?" Zack inquired. "Bingo!" Chris clicked his fingers just as they entered the service area of the restaurant. "Now you don't have to do much, I just need you to..." Chris' talk came to an end when they realized the chaos that was going on at the table as everyone other person watched the whole deal. Some annoyed, some entertained and the others minding their business and trying to ignore the chaos. At a particular table for two, where a couple were seated, and standing beside the man was a hysterical woman who had just found her husband on a date with a younger, more beautiful woman. The husband looked guilty having been caught red-handed, while his partner in crime hung her head in shame, obviously aware that her man made vows to another. The hysterical women, unkempt in appearance, having had to rush to the scene to catch them in the act, was laying curses on the woman. One waiter and two waitresses were by the table carefully trying to calm the situation while knowing the consequences of crossing a rich and powerful person. "You lewd b*tch of a prostitute!" the wife shrieked. The other woman, having enough of the embarrassment, decided to speak up for herself. "Why don't you tell your wayward husband to keep it in his pants instead," The woman decided to take it a step further and said arrogantly. "And maybe, if you were half the b*tch I am, your husband wouldn't have..." "How dare you talk back to me, you shameless wh*re," the wife raised her hand, ready to strike the other woman in the face, but was extremely shocked when someone caught her hand, and when she looked up, it was none other than a waiter, which made nose flare in fury. The other woman, having seen what was coming for her, stood and staggered back, one of the waitresses helping her stand up straight. "Who the h*ll do you think you are to hold me back?" the woman angrily spoke through clenched teeth. "You are making a scene here madam and disturbing the tranquility of our restaurant," Zack spoke calmly. "I suggest you stop or take it outside, else we will have security escort you outside." "Do you know who I am. How dare a mere waiter treat me this way?" the woman seethed, yanking her arm out of Zack's grip. "You are embarrassing yourself right now, so plea..." Zack started to say but didn't get to finish his sentence. "Learn how to f*king mind your business next time," the woman said and everyone including Chris let out a gasp as a dish of creamy garlic velouté was poured on Zack's head followed by a splash of red wine on his face.Back in the lounge room, Chris handed Zack another towel which Zack used to rub his wet but now clean hair.Zack had taken a shower and changed out of his work clothes into simpler clothes, which consisted of a white tee and blue jeans."You will have to take a proper shower after getting home. I think it would take a few days for the smell to get off," Chris complained. "Who orders food like that anyway? Can you believe they made a soup out of garlic?""How am I supposed to continue working smelling like this? And I was hoping Emilia and I would get to eat dinner together ," Zack grunted in annoyance. He smelled the dampened towel which now smelled of garlic before throwing it on a nearby couch and, using his fingers, tussled his hair."I could never understand why people cheat on their spouses. Especially the ones they made vows to," Zack shook his head. "Because it's fun?" Chris grinned."It's my fault, the whole scene that was caused, and what my wife did to you." A voice came, ma
"Babe," she patted her boyfriend on the chest to bring him back to reality. Her boyfriend turned his head towards the door and saw Zack standing there in shock while Emilia hurried to cover herself up.His lips lifted into a slight smirk as he got off the bed and Zack caught it. "Looks like the boyfriend is here," he whistled, slowly getting off the bed and going for his clothes. Not only was he on top of his girlfriend in his own house. This man was definitely mocking him. At that moment, Zack's rage overwhelmed his feeling of betrayal, taking over all his senses. He didn't hear when Emilia called out to him as he headed towards the man who was buckling in his pants. The man did not notice and was only made aware of lackluster fury when a punch landed on his face. "Oh my god no! Zack, stop!" Emilia called out to him, but he didn't hear as he went in for another punch. "No, stop!" Emilia stopped him by holding onto his arm. She had already slipped on a dress."Stop doing this please.
"Zack, you came back?" the woman rushed to hug him. "You are back home, for good, right? And you are finally going to take back your rightful place," the woman whispered the last part."Nice to see you too after so long, mother," Zack hugged her back."Come on everyone, let's get back inside." Grandmother ushered everyone back in while Zack's mother let go of the hug."Grandma, did you really make us prepare a special dinner to welcome your fugitive grandson back?" Mackenzie, the 21-year-old slender girl with blonde hair said as they all turned to go back inside."That is no way to talk about your cousin, young woman," Grandma scolded, walking towards her family and towards the house, using her walking stick as a support. "And this fugitive son would work in the company to prove himself.""Ohhh! Brother is not going to be happy about this," Levi, the 14-year-old teenage boy with chestnut brown hair, shook his head. "What do you mean? And Zack is the oldest here. So I expect you all to
Third-person POVAs Rose sat at the head of the boardroom, listening to the heads of the different departments in her company tell her the final details of the event that was about to start in two hours' time, she felt an unsettling feeling deep within her."That's good, Mr. Sunshine, well done to you and your team for a great job," Rose complimented the Chief Marketing officer as he finalized his presentation."Thank you, Miss Gabrielle," Mr. Sunshine said with a cheeky grin, a contrast to Rose's Stoic expression as he took in Rose's compliment while the rest of the people in the meeting nodded their heads in recognition of his work.Next, was the Chief technology officer, Mr. Sanders, who continued with his presentation. "... Taking all the efforts brought forward to make this day a success, I would also like to put forward an idea to make our work with our partners more efficient..." Mr. Sanders stated.Rose's curiosity piqued. "And what is that idea of yours?" Rose asked him."I s
A VIP room, adorned with a brown leather sofa between two lamp lights. In front of it is a coffee table which supports some newspapers, magazines and a mug of coffee. To the side is an open closet alongside wall-to-wall mirrors adorned with LED lights which lit the room ever so brightly, shining upon tonight's star, who was none other than Rose, who was getting her hair and makeup done by a professional stylist who had the help of two assistants."Done!" The thirty-something-year-old woman, Miss Lucy, clapped her hands while holding a powder brush as she gazed upon her masterpiece.Rose was snapped out of her thoughts as she looked at her makeup in the mirror. A layer of foundation that blended with her skin tone complimented the red tint on her lips. The skillfully drawn eyeliner asserted the gray color of her eyes and the sleek bun hairstyle made prominent her sharp but striking facial features."Done nicely, as always," Rose complimented Miss Lucy, who gleamed. "Now, I always have
Third person POVWas Rose really excited about this?Alice shook her head and chuckled as she realized what was going on, yet sighed in relief upon realizing Rose wasn't planning anything dangerous.Who knew one could get the high about eavesdropping on their employees, but then, Rose had always been peculiar about her approach to things.Alice locked her cubicle, closed the lid on the toilet and sat comfortably, listening to those that came and went. Most of the women went in to touch their makeup and do a little bit of gossip."I love your dress!""You look absolutely stunning girl!""You look in the mirror and tell that to yourself.""Did you see Vanessa's dress?" one voice said and two others laughed."Seriously. Did she wear her Halloween dress or something?" Another said, and the others laughed."Someone needs to tell her orange is not her color."Not long after, the girls went out."Does any one of you have a pad or tamp?" Someone anxiously asked her group. "I think i might be
Alice's POVOh sh*t! It's all my fault. I should have talked her out of it. But what does she mean by putting the girl in the same position as herself? Rose is currently the CEO, so doesn't that mean she would be rewarding the girl for bad behavior? But that doesn't even make sense.Snapping myself out of those thoughts that were never going to answer themselves, I decided to follow after Rose, but when I got out of the bathroom, she was already long gone.I headed towards the elevators and pressed the button. Five out of six were heading up towards the eleventh floor where the ceremony was taking place while I was waiting on the eight floor. The other elevator was on the fifth floor and seemed to be taking forever. Either many people were getting in or someone was messing with it.At this rate, I might just miss the first part of the ceremony. Did Rose get there already? Maybe I should take the stairs. I shouldn't be caught lacking on an important day like this. She can't do somethin
Third Person POVKnowing she would be there all by herself, and feeling not the need to knock, he opened the door and let himself in, closing the door softly behind him.Rose stood in front of the ceiling to floor windows, gazing down at the busy city which was shrouded in the midst of the night of the sky, yet illuminated by the the lights from the buildings and from the street lamps. On her large mahogany desk which was at least three decades old, he could see an envelope beside a letter and he knew right who the sender of that letter would be and how it always affected Rose. Her arms folded against her torso, and her hair now let down, she seemed to be loss in thoughts as she gazed through the window, barely making one thing from the other amidst the tall skyscrapers and the cars brimming at the traffic. He walked up to her, and with her back to his, he wound his arms around her waist, rested his head on her shoulder and sniffed in her scent."You did well Rose, tonight was amazing
Rose was discussing with Mr. Durant when she raised her head and spotted Zack coming towards her. A smile spread across her lips effortlessly. Zack joined her, standing by her side and Rose immediately linked her arms with his as they continued to talk to Mr. Durant. The night went on, and after a lot of music, food and socializing, it was finally time to go back home and call it a night. "You should come to my place with me. "We should have a few things to discuss between us," Rose suggested to Zack as they got out of the ballroom. "Sure," Zack agreed. "Where should we head to now? Should I drop him off first?" Cade said as Zack and Rose entered the back of the limo. "No. Drop us off at my place," Rose answered. "Yes ma'am," Cade replied, throwing a glance at Zack just as the screen rolled up, making a screen for them. "I could have sworn he glared at me," Zack joked in amusement. "Cade doesn't like the idea of me going home with other guys," Rose laughed. Thinking about how
Rose closed her lipstick and put it back in her purse before turning to face Madeline who had walked up to her. "Long time no see Rose. Who knew we would meet again after so long? You are happy to see me, right?" Madeline smiled brightly. "Depends on your intentions entirely," Rose titled her head to the side. "It's certainly been a long time Madeline. Eleven years if I am correct?" "Eleven years sound like such a long time, but it feels just like yesterday when we clung to each other's arms as we dominated the hallways of our high school," Madeline laughed. "You still think of those times, right? I hear your grandparents passed away not long after we graduated. Are you okay? Must have been devastating. Not having any one of us be there for you. And especially not long after Damian broke your heart," Madeline chuckled. "It was a rough time to go by. But I am more than glad I didn't have any of your fake asses with me. But as you can see, I am doing just fine now. Thank you for
2 weeks laterThird person POVThe ballroom was a majestic space with a high, ornate ceiling and crystal chandeliers that seemed to be made out of jewels. The walls, adorned by tall windows that were draped by opulent curtains, and the floor, a sea of polished marble, reflected the extravagance of the evening. The air was alive with the sweet scent of perfumes, wine and flowers, the soft strains of music coming from the piano, and the hum of conversation, as influential businessmen and business women, wealthy entrepreneurs, and high-society individuals mingled and laughed, their designer gowns, jewels, suits and tuxes spoke volumes of the importance of that night. The atmosphere was electric, filled with the excitement of deals being made, connections being forged, and the thrill of being among the elite.Outside, the evening atmosphere was alive with the flash of cameras from the paparazzi and influencers, all trying their best to take the perfect shot of the rich and famous as they
Emilia's POVI flipped through the never ending pages, my chest feeling heavy and my frustration increasing with each passing second.I looked up and around the almost empty library. It was almost midnight, so it made sense that that there will be less people right now. Or that was the lie I kept telling myself, when in reality, the reason why the library is more empty than it should be, is because most of my mates have graduated.Only six months ago, I had so much hope I felt like I could shit rainbows. But now I am stuck in this stupid dingy place.Knowing that flipping the page won't get the words into my head, I stood from the chair as I decided to call it quits for the night. The next bar exams in in two weeks luckily, and I plan to pass this time.Trudging my way out, I came out of the library and stood still by the road, looking at the night sky, I realized how late it was.I brought out my phone and scrolled through the contacts before stopping at his name.I pressed dial and
Alice looked around the entrance of the amusement park and immediately spotted Chris' back and blonde hair. She snuck up on him and right when she was about to poke him, Chris turned around and she poked his chest instead.Chris looked at her hand poking his chest and then looked at her with his eyebrows raised. Realizing what had just happened, Alice pulled her finger away and closed her mouth with her hands, her eyes widened."Just how much cuter can you get," Chris wrapped his arms around her as he chuckled."I wanted to surprise you," Alice let out disappointedly."I promise you did," Chris told her. "Good thing you dressed warmly," Chris adjusted the scarf around her neck. "The night air might get chilly on those rides. That is if you don't get spooked out first.""Oh please!" Alice rolled her eyes."I've gotten our tickets. Let's go in now.""The first to scream on the wheel buy all the snacks!" Alice said and the two walked in hand in hand through the gates of the amusement par
Third person POV6 months laterIn their vast mansion, the dinner room, might as well be the only time this rich family have a good reason to have to have to meet and face each other. It was silent, save for the clinking of cutlery against ceramic plates, the occasional order to the maids to bring or take a way a thing or the other or the sound of food being eaten. The usual sitting was in order, but the silent animosity between them was unparalleled."Grandma," Marissa spoke up. "Although it's only been six months since Zack started working with you at the company, don't you think he is doing really well?""Uhmmm," Grandma nodded as she continued to eat.Marissa looked at Irene with a taunting face, a smirk on her face but was surprised to find that the latter also had a similar expression on."Grandma, you must have heard about the famous Craig Wallstreet, right?" Irene continued without waiting for Grandma to respond. "Chris, through his persistence and flexibility was able to secu
Alice's POVWho knew that after what felt like a long time I would be meeting him again? And here of all places?Chris was dressed in his white tennis attire, his right wrist had a red band and his left hand held his racket. On the side, the umpire introduced us the players and went ahead to announce the rules of the final match where the winner will take the trophy.I on the other hand, stared at Chris. Did he even recognize me at all? Would he be glad to see me again? As if he knew what was going on inside my head, Chris raised his racket and pointed it towards the trophy which was seated on a table near the umpire, patiently waiting to be taken by the winner. When my eyes followed his direction and saw the trophy, Chris used his racket once again and pointed to himself.I snorted at the action. This is going to be challenging. The umpire announced Chris as the person who won the coin toss, but instead of serving first as usual, Chris picked me to serve first instead."So you want t
Alice's POVFinally, it was the weekend and get to enjoy myself, but first I will have to do some chores.Looking at my messy room, I started by picking up the clothes on the floor. After loading them into washing machine, I put my shoes and bags back into their places, after which I changed my sheets and rearranged my stuff on the vanity and my room was back to looking good.I went to kitchen and had breakfast before starting to plan my day.First of all, I will visit the cemetery, go to the tennis court after which I will eat out and probably do some shopping then come back home.I showered and put on a pink shirt with blue denim skirt then a pair of white converse and black sling purse before carrying my duffle bag and going out in my car.I stopped at the nearest flower shop first and bouquet of white lillies before traveling to the cemetery which was an hour's trip.As I walked through the entrance of the cemetery, the scent of tall green grass and blooming flowers filled the air
Third person POVKimberly walked out of her room tying her hair up with a ribbon. She was dressed in a simple flow dressed topped with a jeans jacket with a brown purse slung across her shoulder that matched her brown sandals."Kim, where are you going at this time of night?" Emilia who was watching TV asked as she picked up her phone and checked the time. "It's 7:30pm. Last I checked work closed way before.""Shut up," Kimberly hissed before walking over to the fridge. She opened it took out a bottle of water. She gulped down some before turning to Emilia who was looking at her with mischief."Don't tell me you are going on a date?""And so what if I am?""So it's true then? Must be a good guy if you suddenly stopped being a nerd.""Whatever. Just don't forget to clean up," Kimberly said as she to the door and opened it. "And don't forget to turn off the TV before falling asleep like last time.""Yeah yeah. Enjoy your date," Emilia turned her attention back to the TV as Kimberly went
