CHAPTER NINETY FIVE

SALLY

My fingers rolled around my keyboard at a very fast pace. I had a few documents to type before the day would run out. I heard a slight knock on the door and lifted my head from the computer.

"Come in," I said, even though it barely came out as a whisper.

The door opened slowly, and Alicia walked into my office.

"Ma'am," she called as she closed the distance between us.

"Alicia," I called her with my brows furrowed in confusion.

Alicia's tone was serious, and she only referred to me that way and in a very serious tone when the matter was a serious matter.

Alicia stepped forward. The look on her face wasn't encouraging at all. I was curious to know what was going on, but there was no way I could get the news out of her head without getting out of her mouth first.

So, I simply waited for her to speak.

"You are needed at the police station," Alicia informed me.

"Why?" I asked her, as my heartbeat slowly began to increase.
