CHAPTER FOURTY THREE

SALLY

I was working in my office when I heard a soft knock on the door. I lifted my head to stare at the door, and before I could say a word, the door opened, and James walked into my office.

I smiled when I saw him. It had been long since I saw James last. He smiled as he came to my table. I stood up to give him a side hug.

"At least, I'm glad that you're excited to see me." James told me.

I smiled.

"Of course," I replied.

James took his seat, and I did, too.

"Here," he said, handing me an invitation card.

I took the card and stared at it.

"Twenty-second anniversary?" I asked with my eyes wide open.

James nodded.

"Make sure you're there," he told me.

I nodded.

"Of course," I responded. "Is there a reason I shouldn't be there?"

He leaned forward.

"You, tell me," he responded.

I smiled deeply.

"None."

"Are you aware of the fact that Alexander..." James began to speak but suddenly trailed off.

"Alexander, did what?" I asked curiously.

"It's nothing.
