“When do you think you and Lucas will make things right?” Aunt May asked, her voice stern and final as she spoke to Charlotte who was bending over her garden of daphne. She looked up for a brief moment as if tuning her ears to Aunt May’s words before she avoided her gaze again.

“Hmm, I don’t know. I don’t think about it.”

“Darling, you can’t keep hurting yourself just because of your pride.” Charlotte looked at Aunt May, her face furrowing in fake hurt as if the words falling on her ears were new and painful for her. “It will only leave you with regret once you let go of him again. And I do not wish to see you sad again for another ten years, my sweet girl.”

“Oh, Aunt May!” Charlotte cried out, closing the distance between her and Aunt May who was pruning her vegetables in the left corner of her garden.
