Tom's POV
She looked like a kicked puppy. Standing out there in a rather drab dress. Her hair was tied in a ponytail and her eyes were red.
She had been crying.
For what? I thought in fury. Over her old man's death? That man hadn't cared not one bit about her and she had the audacity to defy me because of him! Such insolence.
I had been with her for ten years. I had bore through her shenanigans and tantrums and made sure to give her the discipline she needed so she could learn her face. Yet it was obvious she would still choose that man over me anytime, any day.
Anger burned through my veins, reminding me of the many reasons why I needed to teach her a lesson. I couldn't have her running off on me every time. What kind of a husband didn't train his wife to be a good little prim and proper bitch? A terrible one, that's who.

Adam's POV"Perfect, thank you Gentlemen," I told the board and rose to my feet. They rose as well bowing their heads as I walked out of the meeting with Lillian in tow. "That went well, yeah?""A hundred and ten percent," She chuckled. "You might want to check your phone though Boss, it rang like a gazillions of times. "We stepped onto the elevator and I allowed myself to relax when the doors closed before us.I had moved from one meeting to another. And considering it was a few minutes past five in the evening, I desperately hoped that was the last meeting for the day. Just another day in my life.Meetings, more meetings and a lot of phone calls from my mother badgering the shit out of me. It had been just a day since she had banned me from seeing Eve- not like I was going to see her anyway.Okay perhaps th
Madeline's POVThe plan was working.Oh I had never been so happy in my life. Adam's mother had called me the night before, asking when I was free. Her beloved son had finally agreed to a date with me.Oh I couldn't have been happier if I tried! I had known the one person who could force Adam Stone's hand was his mother. I just hadn't expected a date would come out of it.I had chosen tonight of course. I didn't want to give the jackass time to rethink his decision and cancel on me. That would defeat the whole purpose of every trap I had carefully laid out."Now, what did you order for us?" I asked him, trying to make small talk at least. I hated how silent and brooding he looked, reading through the menu as if it were way more interesting than I was.The people were watching! They would gossip and t
Eve's POVMy body creaked as I turned on my bed, stretching my limbs. Sleep slowly drifted away. And when I opened my eyes, I stared at the ceiling for a long time, trying to figure out where I was.Flashes of the things that had happened the day before ran through my head.I wasn't at the hotel.I was back in Tom's home. Back to the place that drained my spirit and made me feel as terrified as hell. It wasn't a happy feeling.I had tried. I had tried to think of another solution. Another place to go. Something else to do. But I couldn't.I was lost without anyone. The only person I could think of that I could stay with until I could figure out what the hell I had to do, was Tom. And that was sad as hell.Tears slipped down the corner of my eyes and I wiped them off quickly and r
Adam's POV"Thank you so much Mr Stone," A man's voice sifted into my ears through the landline."We appreciate all you have done and all you are doing for our orphanage. We are immensely grateful.""Don't mention, Mr Pearson," I mumbled. "If there is a lack, just reach out to Lillian and I'm certain she'll sort it out.""Thank you so much!"Well that was quite enthusiastic. A very different mood from how I felt. The call ended and I heaved a sigh.I was tired as hell. I knew I should have made Lillian handle the calls, but I wanted to hear about the children in the orphanage from Pearson directly. I needed to confirm that he cared about them.It was sad that some orphanages took advantage of the children and used them to solicit money for themselves. It was simply inhumane. To deprive children on
Madeline’s POV“Yep right there,” I sighed deeply as the masseuse fingers sank deep into my spine reaching a spot I hadn’t known existed but made me feel good anyways.Damn those hands had to belong to that of an angel. My mother was right. It felt perfect.I felt perfect.I sighed again when another masseuse massaged my foot, His hands gently pressing on my calves, drawing slow and lazy circles around them. I took in a deep breath and allowed my body to relax in their hands. The air in the room was warm and streamy with a scent heavy in the air. It slipped through my nose , went straight up to my brain and made me feel so damn sleepy. Yeah.“Take deep breath in Miss,” The soft voice of the female masseuse reached my ears and I gave in, took a deep breath big enough to blow a freaking gasket.
Tom's POV"Sir?" My secretary poked a head through the office door, looking like she was playing peek-a-boo with a child. I raised my head to look at her, frowning at the look on her face."What?"She gnawed on her bottom lip and it irritated me. I was too damned busy for someone who wasn't sure of what she wanted to disturb me. I had a gazillion things to do. And one of them included figuring out what to do with my jumpy wife.Eve. I gritted my teeth at the thought of her. I was damned irritated. Two weeks and the woman was still a nervous wreck around me. It wasn't like I didn't particularly relish the thought of her being afraid of me.The thought had a lot of merit and I quite liked it. However, it was getting me nowhere. I still didn't know who had told her about her father's death and where on earth she had spent those few days that she had gon
Eve's POV"Finn Barlow!" Tom's voice rang, piercing through my senses and forced me to look up at the man who approached us. Dread filled me rapidly as I watched the old cruel bastard march towards us, a wide grin on his face. His eyes fell on me and his grin widened and for one disgusting moment, his tongue slipped out to wet his lips. My skin crawled at the sight. Somewhere in my head, I could hear myself screaming.No.No!NO!This wasn't happening! Was that why Tom had insisted we had dinner together tonight? Was this all part of his plan?! How could he do this to me?!To think that a part of me had begun to hope that perhaps things with him wouldn't be so bad if he was going out of his way to be caring.I hadn't expected the dinner date tonight. In fact
Tom's POV"Your wife looks happy to see me," Barlow chuckled and I frowned, looking at the doors that my wife in question had just fled through. She literally bolted out of her chair like I had set fire to her ass."She does?" I chuckled, turning to face Barlow. The man literally had the face of a pig. Beady eyes, round nose and neck that was too thick and ridden with fat.Once he had been one of the top dogs of the business world and perhaps he still was, but Barlow was only a ghost of his former self. That much was clear.People rarely thought or talked about him anymore. Hell, I had totally forgotten about him until he showed up, dressed in some shiny wine suit that looked like it belonged in Vegas instead. He always did have odd tastes. And a terribly odd sense of fashion. However his taste of bu
